The beach was undergoing some renovation with heavy equipment/machinery bringing in fresh sand. No we were there during the off-season.. the beach itself has beautiful, white sand and was fairly clean. It stretches for quite a ways and there are several beach bars/restaurant establishments on Biloxi Beach that you can dine out at. There's also a large souvenir shop called shark heads on Biloxi Beach that was fun to visit. Because we were there in April, it was a little too cold to spend extended time on the beach, but we enjoyed evening walks to watch the sunset. Note, Biloxi Beach is on the Mississippi sound so the water is brown. You may spot Atlantic bottle nose dolphins!

We stopped here to spend a little time on the beach and experience the Gulf of Mexico. Unfortunately for us, there are multiple signs that say they do not allow dogs. We travel with our small dog and we don't like to leave her in our vehicle. My husband stayed with her while I checked the beach out for a bit. I really didn't think it was anything special. The sand here is super fine and you will notice that most people are taking their shoes off and leaving them in the parking lot. It's very difficult to get this sand off of you. There was also a smell, I want to say it was like sewage, but it wasn't that strong, just strong enough to make me not want to stay. Because of that I did not venture into the water. As I said, there is a parking area adjacent to this beach and a paved boardwalk that goes around where people were jogging and walking their dogs. This is definitely a functional beach and there were lots of family and children on the beach when I visited.

Not a great sunset this evening from Ocean Springs' Front Beach, compared to last night's from…read moreBiloxi's beach but it was still a lovely view of Biloxi Bay and the Biloxi Bay Bridge. Front Beach extends for about a mile from the Ocean Springs Pier to the Ocean Springs Yacht Club. The beach is smooth and quite flat with a firm sand and a slow slope that allows you to wade out quite a bit before it even gets up to waist level. Fort Maurepas Park is nearby with a playground and volleyball nets. There is parking there as well as parallel along the beach side of Front Beach Blvd. The beach is clean and free from litter. First of all this was kind of a surprise so it's really hard to go wrong with any motorized vehicle…read morethat's going to be operated on water that's as warm as a bathtub in May. We arrived and found where we were supposed to go on the beach real easy. Staff knew we were coming and what we were ready with paperwork and instructions for the jet skis. Once we signed all the necessary paperwork (as the staff members cracked jokes - and in general just had a good time being there) we waded out to the staff member that was going to give us our final instructions and set us off on our way. Large area to play in with the jet skis, probably about 4 football fields wide and 1/2 mile out you were able to explore and have fun. The only rule, don't get near each other (jet skis) because things can get out of hand real quick resulting in an accident. Jet skis were clean and fast, and a ton of fun. If you have kids, one thing to keep in mind, you have to be 18 in order to be a driver. Anyone under 18 rides double behind an adult. Friendly staff and great experience. I would highly recommend these guys if you're looking for a fun gulf adventure.

This adorable cottage community is the perfect base from which to explore Ocean Springs. It's an…read moreeasy walk to Front Beach and to many restaurants, stores, and bars. We stayed in Key West, a studio that's great for a couple, and used the free bikes to ride across the bridge to Biloxi (kayaks are provided, too). Everything was neat as a pin and well-maintained. The owners are friendly, hospitable, and very responsive. I hope to visit again soon!

There are still many bare spots in this city where businesses and residences once stood 14 years years ago. My visit to the area was to help put dollars back into this region as well as see friends.
