Far from a relaxing stay! The environment feels more like a frat house than a hotel. Load music, drunken people the entire day and evening. Staff did nothing to stop it. We had a dockside room but large boats completely block view. They have boats parked three deep out into the river. There was a constant flow of people past the room. I had asked when making the reservation if the room was in a quiet area and was informed it was. Banging pipes from water hammer over the bed all day long. The room was very small and had no seating. There were two outdoor chairs but the blaring music made them all but useless. Beds are hard and not comfortable. There are not even windows but only screens and storm windows. Web site said daily room service but nobody ever came during our three night stay. Trash just stayed and never any fresh towels. Two hangers is all you get. Location is great, but it is hard to say these two things made up for the negatives. For the prices charged you get very little satisfaction. Their web site says "relaxed hotel rhythm that keeps your trip easy" but this couldn't be farther from the truth! read more

As our third year coming as a family despite having stayed here for many years prior, the subtle improvements don't go unnoticed. Breakfast has been upgraded to include eggs, bacon, sausages and more. The staff is so helpful and have grown to recognize us after all this time. Clean rooms, love the pool and hot tub....the close proximity to the BARge restaurant is a plus. We love being able to park and walk anywhere downtown...already booked for next year for a long holiday weekend!! read more

The main complaint is that the room was extremely uncomfortable and the sheets were awful! We upgraded to the very pricey room they call the "Penthouse Suite" with full kitchen and 2 rooms. The bed was very uncomfortable and way too soft and even though the room and bed looked beautiful, the sheets on the bed were made of an awful texture that almost felt like very low quality flannel sheets and just what you want in the peak of summer. Also to make things even worse was that the bed linens had the strongest smell from the use of the most awfully strong scented laundry detergent. All the sheets, pillows and even the towels had the most god awful extremely overpowering strong fragrance smell forcing me to strip the bed in the middle of the night and use some old beach blankets I had in my car. Though even doing that I could barely sleep for the 2 nights because of the overly soft low quality bed. Not exactly what you'd expect from the price I paid for this room. In order to have a good night's sleep, I don't care how quaint a riverside hotel is, how beautiful the room is, or if it has a wine storage cooler, or a fire place, if it doesn't have the most important thing which is a comfortable bed with nice quality sheets and without a strong overpowering smell of cheap scented laundry detergent. The bed and sheets made this beautiful suite one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. For what I paid per night, I could have stayed at a Peninsula Hotel! read more

I am really impressed with this place. We keep our boat in Saugatuck, but rarely stay over night. We stayed Sunday through Tuesday, but had an original leave date planned for Monday. I ended up deciding Sunday to add an extra night, and already knew ahead that we'd have to switch rooms the next day. Id just planned on putting our things into my friend's room for a few hours. Nope, I received a text at 10:00 the next morning saying the new dock room was ready for us. Not once in my many hotel stays was the room ready before checking out of the first room. Huge thank you for that! The place is very tidy, very comfortable feeling. Beds are nice, amenities are nice. The staff is nice, and seemed to want to take care of their guests. I didn't park in their parking lot, but found a spot right in front. They give those in their lots a parking pass. When I extended, they remembered to text me to offer a new pass. I was very surprised by how quiet the place was with having "the barge" restaurant on property (also excellent). The common lobby, tables were a fun place for people to congregate when not swimming or outside doing the many activities. They had many games, both adult and children appropriate. Also, a bookshelf for reading books. Now, I did prefer the first room overlooking the pool, and with being on the second floor a great view of the river. The dock room was also excellent in different ways, especially for watching the late night storm. Would and definitely will try to make this an annual trip. read more

It's a bit of a quirky setup. The staff is amazing. It's definitely a motel so leave your hotel expectations behind. The staff keeps the rooms very clean. The morning continental breakfast is ample to get you going. No in room coffee but the breakfast area is just steps away. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. All were super kind humans. Huge bonus that our friends were able to pick us up at the dock right by the pool. Could not be happier with our stay. A complete five stars for such a comprehensive experience. read more

Charming with a lot of potential. The location and the views are wonderful. Also, the bar/restaurant is fantastic. Great pizza. Such a friendly staff working there. And the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and welcoming. It is certainly a motel on the water, though. They have made updates to the room decor which was nice. A/C worked well and there was a wine fridge in the room. However, the floor was not flat; it had warped over time due to all the water and a recent flood a few years ago. Also, the mattress was pretty terrible. I think it was the original prototype for a mattress. It felt like a box full of springs. It wasn't lumpy, or stabbing me with an errant spring but there was no padding on the mattress. The bathroom has not been renovated since the 50s. Again, I'm rooting for this place. There are so many pluses! I just can't go back until there are new mattresses. I couldn't sleep. read more

First time in all the years we have stayed there that we encountered kids! Noisy kids, teenagers. We did complain on Friday night because it was getting way late and the kids were still at the pool and noisy! Disappointed! We love kids but when on a couples get away you prefer not to have that hassle. Location is good! Walked the whole town all weekend and you don't need your car! Also great view! Dirty, musty, overpriced and the staff is rude. No other way to slice it. I wanted to check out Saugutuck... which could've been an afternoon pass through. Shopping, some food and drinks but nothing special. First, do yourself a favor and stay in Holland or somewhere better. If not, don't stay at the Ship n Shore. The toilet overflowed, the bed is hard, the place is not clean when you get in. You can tell they do the bare minimum when they flip them. At the price we paid, I'm dumbfounded! Over $200 a night for worse than cheap motel. To the owners: Do better, reinvest in some up keep and take pride in your property. Cleanliness is not top of mind and it should be! read more

I've read other reviews. Our experience was great. The folks working there were very nice. For an older building, I was impressed with how clean everything was. The rooms are nice size and clean as well. They have free WiFi but it can be spotty depending on where you are. The back outside patio it's huge and beautiful. Nice view of the river. We stayed in a room overlooking the pool with 2 queen beds. The room was small & needed to be updated. Very sparse. The breakfast they offered was equally lacking; cereal & a couple muffins. And although they advertised WiFi, it was pretty much nonexistent. For $300 a night, I would certainly expect more. It's in a great location. On 09-18-15. I took my daughter to a concert at the Allegan Co Fair and booked a room at Ship N Shore over a month ahead of time. We got to the motel early about 1:45 p it was not ready to be expected. We looked around wow what a great location. The motel was dated a little dirty but wife did not come it will be ok, We ate and walked around saugatak nice little resort town. Not my type of town but nice. ( I don't drink wine and the latest fashion drinks while shopping). We got back around 1:30 and the room was ready awesome!!! They gave us two keys nice but they were old keys faded and dirty no big deal. I walked in the room I was shocked. It smelled so moldy. So I went directly to the hotel furnace, the thermostat was broke I turned it on and more mold smell came out I turned it off immediately i am allergic to high concentrations of mold. I opened all the windows. Old windows. I started looking around what did I get myself into. My bed had Dorritos between mattress and box spring when I checked for bed bugs. The room looked like a ten year old painted it. The furniture looked like my apartment in college. Hand me downs nothing matching. Old crap the dirt, black looking mold in corners of room as well as spider webs not been cleaned in years, the bathroom door was so warped it would not close. The bathtub was moldy and gross and really old. The guy in the morning at front desk was wearing basketball shorts a t-shirt and sandals (this tells me they don't care). The breakfast was ok nothing special I had to throw away a bagel because yep here's that word again moldy. Oh I forgot, the bathroom toilet flooded the whole room. I turned off the water and called front desk they came I tried talking with gentleman but he said something in Spanish and left. We left and took all are belongings back to car and went to fair and toilet was fixed when we returned that night. I was unable to park in parking lot because it was full and there is about a seven foot awning you're car goes under at the front door, my truck is taller than seven foot so I parked in the road which was ok. I give it two stars it could be a great place but the structure needs major updates to be safe and comfortable. Nice location but the owners should be ashamed of theirselves on the rooms. This is why we have so many chain motels you know what to expect. Part of the problem was me, I never complained about it. Here I am in my own bed taking Benadryl with my throat burning because of the mold in the room, I took pictures and posted them to show that I'm not lying or bitter about the place I should have never stayed here and got My money back when I saw the room. Where does one start? The ship-n-shore was recommended to us so we were super excited to book and stay here. I figured the price would be worth it between the recommendation and the website boasting updated rooms, etc. We are on our ten year wedding anniversary trip. the weather has been beautiful for September and we were so excited to make the drive up. The pool - absolutely not heated. Sorry bout it. Also, don't even think you're going to have a relaxing cocktail next to the pool unless you paid for it at the bar. Period. ‍ This was a bummer. The updates rooms are mediocre. There is new paint and new flooring but the bathrooms are from the 70s with very little wiggle room and the king size bed is probably from the 70s as well. Woof. Signs everywhere to tell you why you will be evicted immediately. . . We checked in at 2pm today and I'm reviewing at 9:22pm. The good news is that part of the renovation included a beautiful restaurant and bar that has GREAT FOOD. I'm talking, real good. The location is awesome with the waterfront views and walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. Recommendations : stay elsewhere and come for the food. Rooms are dated and the bathroom is very small. There was only 1 mirror in the entire room, which was in the bathroom. Definitely not worth the nightly cost of a room ($249 in the Fall). We tried to stay here for a weekend and it was a terrible experience. The place was nice enough, in looks, but the walls were PAPER THIN. We ended up being next to a group that was partying in their room. We asked the person at the desk to change our room, thinking we were being reasonable: those people wanted to party, that's their right, were just trying to sleep-- no harm done. First he treated us like we were lying-- going to our room and saying that he couldn't hear anything, so our room was fine. I took a video of what we could hear and shared it with him after that. Next he said he couldn't change our room because he didn't have the clearance to change anyone's room; this was the only person who was going to be on staff all night. A refund was out of the question. At 1 AM we were forced to make a decision-- pack up and prey that there was an open room somewhere else (paying for TWO hotels) or suffer through the night. We decided to leave. We told the desk guy we were going and he started HARASSING us to leave the room key behind. We told him there was no way we were doing that because they wouldn't give us a refund-- so why would we give back the key for a room we were paying for? The conversation got really heated. We asked him if he demanded everyone give keys back whenever they left and he didn't get the point. Eventually we told him to just call the cops on us because we were leaving-- with the key-- and we'd be back in the morning to return the key and talk to someone else. He didn't call the cops, but did follow us outside. When we returned the next morning, the staff was defensive and angry before we even got a word out-- believing every word that their night person had said about us: that we lied about a party being next door and told him we were taking the key with no intention of giving it back. The attitude was very, "Oh yeah, we heard about you." The staff told us the owner was already involved and there would be no refund. The whole experience was awful. All we initially wanted was a different room. We returned The key, left upset, and told them we would be disputing the charge. The good news is that our credit card company let us remove the charge (it was clear we paid for another room that night at 1 AM) and so this business never got a cent from us. Do not go to this place. You will be lucky if you don't have any problems-- and if you DO have a problem, good luck getting any help. read more

We stayed here for a wedding weekend, and it was in a very nice location. Great view, close to downtown, but the pool and hot tub were closed which was a bummer. A bit more expensive than I would have liked for a small room with a mirror on the wall behind the bed, the bathroom door was hard to fully shut and a firm bed. My Mother and Father used to meet some old friends for a weekend every year at this Motel. After my Mother passed away I would join my Father and his friends for the weekend. My Father passed away suddenly on June 3rd, 2018. When I called to cancel the reservation made the previous year I was met with a stern warning that my deposit would be lost. I want to write a good review because this motel sits on the edge of Lake Kalamazoo, but I have very mixed opinions at this point. The front desk lady was very nice and knocked off $5 from the overpriced room because the window view was blocked by a construction tractor. The area leading up to the lake is currently undergoing some construction and my room's bathroom has some mold growing. The top of the shower has some serious mold growing and the paint is chipping on the bathroom doorways. Oh, and something funny? The wall for which the the headboard-less bed is against, is all mirror. They have a continental breakfast from 7a-10a, but i got up too late to catch it. Checkout is at 11a. Is it worth the price? For a last minute stay for a room under $150, it was ok. However, a stroll along this very long, beautiful boardwalk makes you forget the so-so room facing a tractor. read more

This hotel is great. Very clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and so were the locals. The hotel is also on a great location; within minutes to downtown and right on the water. The room we got had the best view; overlooking the the pool and the river. I would highly recommend booking the rooms on the 2nd floor, especially rooms 23-25. Another great quality of this hotel is their customer service. Our friends left a pair of shoes while we were checking out and instead of driving all the way back, they offered to ship the shoes to them. What customer service! Now the only reason I didn't give this hotel a 5-star is because of noise of other guests around us during the late and early morning hours. My siblings and I planned our trip 3 months in advance. I am confined to an electric wheelchair chair. So I called and emailed back and forth with the hotel to confirm the accommodations. The hotel "upgraded " me to a room that was "wheelchair accessible " with "a roll-in shower". Of course this was their most expensive room at $635.00 for a Wednesday and Thursday night stay. When we arrived there were no handicapped parking on the property. The "accessible room " allowed my wheelchair to get into the room but not around the bed nor into the bathroom. The shower had a step, through a 2 ft glass door, no shower bench, no hand held shower and no grab bars. The GM/owner avoided us and relied on the front desk to offer a refund if we wanted to stay at another place. There wasn't another property within 30 minutes with wheelchair accommodations. We were stuck. No accommodations after we were assured there were and the hotel ownership said, "I'm sorry. You're free to stay somewhere else." Pathetic!! read more

PLEASE NOTE: ALL of the other reviews, are from 2015!!!! MY review is from September 2016. Apparently all of the nasty things that people are writing about and photographing have been changed because MY experience with them was SO AMAZING that before my stay was over, I booked a room for several days for a YEAR FROM NOW. Yeah, it was THAT GOOD!!! Now, on to the review. I'll be honest, this was not my first choice to spend my birthday weekend. I had wanted to stay at the Bayside Inn next door but they were 100% booked up for a month. Well, since my birthday steadfastly refused to move, I had to, so I called up the Ship n' Shore and got an immediate booking. They took a $40 deposit and when I arrived 3 weeks later, I paid the remaining balance. I have NEVER traveled lightly in my life and I had several bags of samples that I was dropping off with various vendors of mine in the area. The owner, Ryan, was more than happy to help me lug all.SIX.bags up to my 2nd floor room. What a sweetheart! I am slightly handicapped and it would have been painful and a laborious process had I had to drag them upstairs by myself. Once I opened the door to my suite, the room was in flawless condition! I mean, FLAWLESS! Not a dust mote or stray hair to be found and there was NO MOLD SMELL ANYWHERE NOR ANY MOLD!!!! For the price they charge, I received complimentary items like crazy at this place, worthy of a far more pricey hotel! From the lovely basket of shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion and hard-milled soaps, I also found lighting galore (so sick of dark motel rooms), an iron and ironing board, working fridge and freezer (I need to keep medication cold and with me at all times), artfully arranged towels, an additional blanket! (try finding THAT at most hotels!) and the nicest surprise...four pillows on my queen-sized bed with every type of fullness. One was soft and squishy, like I enjoy, one was board flat, which I also love, and then two dense and firm ones. I've NEVER been given that choice at ANY motel and I've stayed at some $500/night 5-star places! The decor was light and breezy with a cathedral ceiling, white walls and bedding, a charming bistro table to use extensively, and a lovely silk arrangement of cymbidium orchids next to the flat screen TV. Also, on the bed was a lovely sign stating that the two rolled up towels were for the pool area, and there was a plethora of towels and wash cloths plus a rubber bath mat for the tub. When's the last time you saw that!??? There are two distinct sides to the place: rooms overlooking the lovely pool and giant in-ground hot tub overlooking the Kalamazoo River and the Garden Side, which also overlooks the river. Now that I know better, I'm booking my room for next year on the garden side, as I'm a landscape architect so that suits my personality much better. There is a wonderful Club House that joins the two halves but a large and very boisterous group of senior women had commandeered the place so I avoided that room like the plague! LOL There is a small kitchen area right off of the check in desk where you have your simple complimentary breakfast served from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. Speaking of breakfast, it's simple but good: you can choose to eat healthy or not. From bagels to sweet rolls, cold cereal, fresh fruit, juice and coffee...it's a perfect way to kill your hunger before you spend BIG BUCKS in the delightful restaurants in the area. :D Being that I work outside for my job, I LOVED how you are immersed in nature while staying here! From the gaggle of geese and ducks swimming in the river, to the hummingbirds and birds flitting about the garden (complete with feeders!) to the random squirrel that decides to take a stroll through the lobby...I adored the integration of nature and civilization. For me, it was the BEST of all worlds! Ryan, was SO nice and helpful and when I peppered him with questions about "Where to eat?" and such, he provided quick and thorough answers and pulled the necessary brochures from the wall to aid me in my enjoyment of Saugatuck. Honestly, I can not fathom WHY this place has such negative reviews, unless there's been a MAJOR overhaul since the 2015 and earlier reviews were written. I met a man in the hot tub that had been coming HERE for 13 years so it can't suck as badly as some Negative Nelly's are posting. When I stated earlier that I'm already booking a room on the garden side for 2017, I'm being truthful! The staff was friendly and very helpful, from Ryan to the housekeeper who aided me when I couldn't figure out HOW to close the ironing board! (she said it was a tricky one!) My room was fresh smelling, bright and cheery despite a day of torrential rain on one of my days. Free internet and great TV reception kept me quite happy during the deluge. :D The garden, the large parking lot, the pool and giant hot tub and friendly atmosphere gave me the BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT ever! read more

We checked in as a walk in on a Saturday. Luckily, we were able to get a room during high season without a reservation. The clerk told us that we are getting a walk in rate, which is less than what the weekend rate was going for. We took a fast look at the room, which was very simple, but seemed nice, and left because We would be checking in a few hours later. We really should have looked a lot closer. The bathroom looked as if it was painted over a lot of corrosion as a quick fix bandaid. The room was extremely damp. There was gorilla tape used to fix the crack on the total walled mirror. The tub drain was rusty and the water took a while to go down the drain. Since the air was on because it was warm outside, I needed an extra blanket that I took from the ledge it was stored at right above the air conditioning unit. Needless to say, it was super cold, but, it was also damp!. I got into bed and the sheets were damp!. I also hung my bathing suit up to dry, and, in the morning, that was also still wet! I tried telling the clerk, but, she was not there and was said on a sign to call if I needed service. I did and it sounded as if I was talking to her while she was driving. She said that they couldn't do anything until the morning. I told the clerk in the morning that the room was very uncomfortable. She said that she would tell the manager about the complaints I told her about, and, that I would be getting a call from the manager. I never did and don't expect to. I'm pretty upset that I paid still a fair amount of money for a room that I was super uncomfortable in. read more

I never thought I'd give Ship 'n Shore a 1 star review, but, this place isn't what it used to be. The last time we stayed there it was just..awful. We've been going to Saugatuck for over 15 years, and know that certain times of year are super crowded, and some visitors are super obnoxious. I'm pretty sure the last time we were there all of the super obnoxious people were staying at Ship 'n Shore. 50 yr old trailer trash trying to relive their youth by drinking way too much, smoking way too much, and being generally gross and classless. That combined with the 5000 kids staying here and our inability to use the patio attached to the room we were paying to stay in, because random people kept sitting there? Never again. read more

It's been a few years since I've been here, but plan to avoid it forever if possible. The two times I've stayed here I've gotten no sleep whatsoever. It's like there's a constant all-night, VERY loud party going on with people sitting immediately outside your door yelling, laughing and smoking all night. Maybe a very deep sleeper could manage to sleep through it, but not me. The location is nice, but the rooms are not particularly nice and what's the point if I get no sleep? Just left the motel and had to write this review as we have stayed here multiple times in past and each time it gets worse then last. This time we were given a room with no security latch in door not even a dead bolt. We actually pushed all furniture against door while we slept in morning the put out green bananas for guests and they used to serve Uncommon grounds coffee (local ) but not anymore. Coffee was horrible. The bed was in the top three most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on. No pictures on the walls of room and ceiling tiles where coming down. One of the only things decent about this place minus location was the garden side where we used to sip decent coffee and now it's no longer being replaced by a concrete restaurant which will make this place even louder then it already is with all the out of control adults drinking till 3am. Last 4 times we have stayed here it has been like a college frat party gone wrong with a ton of 50 year old chain smoking crazies. We will not be returning to Ship-n-shore. This is not the Botel it once used to be at all :-( read more

I have to say, with the prices going up every year, we are pretty sure we won't be back next year. Just can't justify the cost. The new bar restaurant is a plus, but the bathrooms are pretty bad. $190 Room from hell. Had to call the front desk 5 times to turn my electricity back on which kept going off through out the night. Front desk finally just let my calls go to voice mail. Shower drain plugged, a.c. unit leaked water on the floor and the Wi-Fi was nonexistent. This 1950's Mom&Pop style place is way over priced at $150/night - what a dump! It was hardly worth $35. Even though they have WIFI there was no place work on a laptop except to make space on the night stand. The heating and cooling was an air-conditioning unit in the closet area (not at all efficient). The bathroom was extremely small. There were venation blinds on the large window - no light blocking drapes. The closet area had a microwave and small frig but no in-room-coffee (the closest was equipped with only 3 hangers). There was a small window in the bathroom for ventilation. To open this apparatus there was a hole cut in the screen to access a lever. Some of the limited furniture was quite worn. For instance, the stuffing was coming out of the sofa (by the way there were no chairs or desk only 2 beds, a Chester Drawers, a sofa and a night stand).There was a nice shower head, and the staff was courteous. THEY LOST OUR RESERVATION!!! I called and emailed the manager in March since the place is closed in the winter and he said we had a room....its a mom and pop's place so I wasnt concerned with getting a confirmation but I had it in writing via email saying that we were all set. We were staying there for a wedding and they lost our reservation so we had to scramble to find a place. I showed the manager my emails but he said without a confirmation there was nothing they could do....he did call around to check availability but thats the least he could do. Overall, the place is definately a dump but in a good location, on the water, they have a BYOB pool and you are downtown so you can walk everywhere. Its forsure overpriced for the quality....they should look at updating the place. You can stay at nicer places and take the trolley downtown or just park downtown for the day. read more

Too many kids! I did not expect that at $250/night. We booked a certain room, which we did not receive and the staff refused to take responsibility. The property has been renovated and the common area is nice to sit and chat. I like having the chairs outside your room for informal coffee. The tub needs to be updated, but the room was decent. Breakfast was basic, but nice to have for a quick bagel and coffee. We didn't have trouble finding chairs at the pool and the view of the canal with nice. I would return if I could ensure there wouldn't be 30+ little kids running around doing cannon balls and using squirt guns. read more

ship n shore is becoming dated, and in an attempt to spruce up the place, they tore out the garden to replace it with a bar. this is not what ship n shore, or at least the fond memory of, is about. in a town with plenty of bar options, a nice quiet night in the garden was always something to look forward to, and that's gone. sure, the rooms are way overpriced and come with no modern amenities.. and i was always fine with that. you don't book at a place like that for much more than a bed and a quiet place to recoup after a day on the water and night out on the town. but that's gone now. and instead of fixing up the joint, they replaced its crown jewel with a bar. after 20 consecutive years of booking here, i'll be looking elsewhere. read more

Location great, lovely garden and Wifi worked, but that's it. Very run down, shabby and had an awful stale smell. Sink falling off wall; screen torn on sliding door to balcony; room incredibly small; carpet on steps torn and frayed; advertised cinnamon rolls absent at breakfast; outside smokers affected non-smokers; rust on metal base board heaters; etc. Needs major remodel. Booked two nights but only stayed one because of the conditions. No refund policy. Did offer a credit for a future stay. Not an option for us! So we ended up spending big bucks for one night at a dump. read more

I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO SHIP-N-SHORE. I stayed there with friends August 5, 6, 7. Upon arrival I was told I had a reservation for only two nights but that a room actually was available for the third night but I would have to move to the new room after the second night and it would cost extra. I might add that a motel desk clerk later admitted that records showed I did, in fact, have a three-night reservation all along. I was assigned room 4 for the first night. Originally I was informed I would be moved after the first night but this was later changed and I was assigned to room 4 for the first two nights. The rug in room 4 was filthy and covered with multiple huge stains. I decided my feet would never touch the disgusting carpet. The bedding consisted of a dingy old spread with an uncovered duvet underneath. (To the contrary, website depicts duvets encased in clean white sheets.) I removed and folded the bedspread and noticed red spots on the duvet covering my bed; I believe the spots were blood. The condition of the room was such that the picture on the website amounted to what I consider bait and switch. On August 6 I took the opportunity to observe my traveling companions' rooms and discovered that my companions' bedding was as advertised on the website and the carpeting was clean. On August 7, I was moved to Room 34. Room 34 was as advertised on the website, clean floors and beds covered with duvets, encased in clean white sheets. I was charged $20 extra for this room even though I was never told of this situation when reserving a room. Upon departure I complained about my dirty room to the person who represented herself to be the owner. The owner informed me that room 4 was reserved for families with children (which is interesting as she at first feigned ignorance as to the condition of room 4). Ignoring the fact that children would be equally entitled to cleanliness, I responded that there were children staying at the motel but not in the deplorable room 4. I also questioned why I would have been assigned there in the first place, not told of the situation, and not offered a lessened room rate. Of course, I would not have accepted the offer, if given. In conclusion, I do not recommend Ship-n-Shore. read more
