The view from the second floor balcony

I am really impressed with this place. We keep our boat in Saugatuck, but rarely stay over night. We stayed Sunday through Tuesday, but had an original leave date planned for Monday. I ended up deciding Sunday to add an extra night, and already knew ahead that we'd have to switch rooms the next day. Id just planned on putting our things into my friend's room for a few hours. Nope, I received a text at 10:00 the next morning saying the new dock room was ready for us. Not once in my many hotel stays was the room ready before checking out of the first room. Huge thank you for that! The place is very tidy, very comfortable feeling. Beds are nice, amenities are nice. The staff is nice, and seemed to want to take care of their guests. I didn't park in their parking lot, but found a spot right in front. They give those in their lots a parking pass. When I extended, they remembered to text me to offer a new pass. I was very surprised by how quiet the place was with having "the barge" restaurant on property (also excellent). The common lobby, tables were a fun place for people to congregate when not swimming or outside doing the many activities. They had many games, both adult and children appropriate. Also, a bookshelf for reading books. Now, I did prefer the first room overlooking the pool, and with being on the second floor a great view of the river. The dock room was also excellent in different ways, especially for watching the late night storm. Would and definitely will try to make this an annual trip.

Beautiful morning on the waterfront. View from room 25.

It's a bit of a quirky setup. The staff is amazing. It's definitely a motel so leave your hotel expectations behind. The staff keeps the rooms very clean. The morning continental breakfast is ample to get you going. No in room coffee but the breakfast area is just steps away. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. All were super kind humans. Huge bonus that our friends were able to pick us up at the dock right by the pool. Could not be happier with our stay. A complete five stars for such a comprehensive experience.

Charming with a lot of potential. The location and the views are wonderful. Also, the bar/restaurant is fantastic. Great pizza. Such a friendly staff working there. And the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and welcoming. It is certainly a motel on the water, though. They have made updates to the room decor which was nice. A/C worked well and there was a wine fridge in the room. However, the floor was not flat; it had warped over time due to all the water and a recent flood a few years ago. Also, the mattress was pretty terrible. I think it was the original prototype for a mattress. It felt like a box full of springs. It wasn't lumpy, or stabbing me with an errant spring but there was no padding on the mattress. The bathroom has not been renovated since the 50s. Again, I'm rooting for this place. There are so many pluses! I just can't go back until there are new mattresses. I couldn't sleep.

I've read other reviews. Our experience was great. The folks working there were very nice. For an older building, I was impressed with how clean everything was. The rooms are nice size and clean as well. They have free WiFi but it can be spotty depending on where you are. The back outside patio it's huge and beautiful. Nice view of the river. The hotel is located perfectly in the town. We'll be back.

I was a little apprehensive at first after hearing that it is both a salon and hotel, and reading some of the negative reviews about the condition of the rooms. I can only speak to our stay and our room which were both very nice. The room is contemporary, huge, and with well appointed furniture and fixtures. The place looks to have been updated sometime in the recent past, and was impeccably cleaned. I cannot think of a more central location to stay either. Walk out the suite's door and you are a minute away from shopping and dining options. The only downside, and it may be a big deal for late risers, is that suite 7 has a skylight located directly over the bed and does not have a means for closing it. I threw a T-shirt over my eyes and was fine, and my wife was up before it could even bother her. If this is a big issue than you may want to shop their other suites, which also look nice from the online pictures. We will stay at this hotel again in our next visit to Saugatuck.

The two guys who seem to run this place appear to really care about their operation and customers. All of our interactions with the front desk people were great. The two guys up front were super nice and always pleasant to deal with. They even hooked it up with a free toothbrush because I forgot mine. Couldn't ask for better customer service here. The place looked like it has been renovated and really upgraded. You may not think it from looking at this place on a map, but this place has some nice amenities: several BBQs available for use, pool open late (with a great ambiance), and free continental breakfast. Also, the rooms are cozy and very well kept. They even doubled down on some stylish furniture and interior design. Bravo fellas. Finally, last but not least, the shower. The shower was a perfectly executed work of craftsmanship. It was honestly the first stone/tile shower design I had used that felt like whoever built it knew what they were doing. The pressure and level of water flow was almost therapeutic. I didn't want to exit the shower. Overall these folks are running a tight ship. Keep up the good work! We hope to come back soon!

He yelled at us told us we need to leave and never come back. We were clearly confused just quietly lounging by the pool when he came up and publicly screamed at us. It was awful service and he said he would refuse our service in the future. Absolutely ridiculous. Rachel clearly said we could be there, and he made our grandma Sue who rented the rooms so upset she left the pool. Extremely ridiculous and horrible customer service. Will never come back and will be sure to let all my friends and family know to never book here. There is no rule saying we cannot be at the pool. Especially if we are PAYING FOR ROOMS!!!! Horrible man. They also tried to say it's publicly listed no guests allowed at the pool which it's clearly not. I have included every sign posted at the pool. Incredibly unprofessional and rude. We actually have multiple rooms booked despite the owner trying to lie in their responses on here :) The backtracking is insane and unprofessional. Just own up to the fact that you guys were extremely rude and if you don't want guests in the pool area, it should be publicly noted. WHICH ITS NOT!!!! Pics included of every sign at pool!! :)

From the moment we entered, we received the kindest of hospitality. Scott, the innkeeper, provided us with so much wonderful information on things to do, where to eat and was kind in addressing any of our needs. We had a "romance" package which included wine, $50 credit to a restaurant and chocolate. The room was cozy with a faux fire place and a room overlooking some trees and down to the water. As for the breakfast (ALSO INCLUDED), it was amazing. Scott outdid himself with the quality of breakfast and service. I cannot recommend this place enough. We will be going back. T

The best. THE BEST!…read more Love Beechwood Manor! Stayed here a few weeks ago for my birthday weekend when I found a special online for 2 nights plus one one hour free in-room massage, gift certificate to a restaurant in downtown Saugatuck, and of course the two complimentary brekkies (being that it's a B&B, of course) for $388. Such a steal! The house itself is lovely. Built in the 1870s and renovated a bit but still keeping that Victorian charm. A comfy downstairs sitting area, and cozy dining room and another kitchenette area with a fridge (stocked with complimentary sodas and water), water pot for tea, hot chocolate, etc, and coffee. Oh yay! We stayed in Enid, the largest of the rooms. Very spacious with a sitting area of two chairs and a table, a couple of nightstands, a chest of drawers, a queen sized bed (very comfy and cozy), a fireplace, a small cable tv and dvd player, and cd/radio. It was actually really nice to unplug a bit so we didn't really watch any tv but it was there if you need it. Instead we mostly just lounged around listening to classical music on the radio and Prairie Home Companion. Fit the feel of the room nicely! The adjoining bathroom is a good size too with a lovely and deep clawfoot bathtub (that I definitely took a soak in. AHHH so nice!) and a separate shower. Complimentary bathrobes added to the cozy feeling and the windows had a lovely view for just perching and looking outside. Add that to the most amazing massage ever (seriously, one of the best I've ever had and I'm hard to please) and I walked out of there feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. The hosts/owners, Sal and Gregg are just lovely. Really friendly and chatty, I felt like an honored guest. And they are no slouches in the kitchen, either! Our breakfasts were DELICIOUS. The first day I had the eggs benedict (although the smell of the waffles sure were intoxicating!) and the next morning I had the sweet potato pancakes which I had to force myself to stop eating because they were so tasty but oh so filling! The grounds are lovely and I can't wait to come back in warmer weather for a sit on the porch looking at the trees and Kalamazoo river peaking through (while their super friendly kitty Oscar rubs against your ankles--but don't worry cat allergy folks, kitty does not come into the guest quarters. We only saw him chillin' outside). If you've never been to a B&B I highly recommend starting with Beechwood Manor. Although it's likely any others you visit may not live up!
