Yelp Review 2025 #230:…read more I came here for a friend's outdoor wedding in October. It was sunny but cool. They have 3 venues. I'll start with the not-so-positives first. I took an Uber from Downtown Philly to Pen Ryn Estate which took about 30 minutes. Somebody is there to direct cars where to go. I specifically heard the lady say "take the first left and keep going straight to River's Edge Garden Pavillion." What my Uber driver did was go all the way to the end and turn left. So, I second-guessed myself. I got dropped off at the wrong venue and I had to walk a loooooong way to the correct venue and I was late for the wedding (I was actually on time but late for my standards). I ran into other wedding guests attending somebody else's wedding trying to find their venue as well. This place is massive! We're talking acres of land. I made it to a shed and I asked somebody if I was at the right place - I had to be because I already passed 2 incorrect venues out of 3. And the gentleman told me to hop on the golf cart that would take me to River's Edge where the wedding is at. The golf cart driver asked if I was taking an Uber after the wedding and he told me what address to put in so I can get picked up directly from the wedding venue - which I found very helpful when I was ready to go back to my hotel late at night! The venue was nice. Since it was outdoors, you had to deal with some elements: strong winds, bugs and it got chilly close to sunset. You get a view of the river. Right behind us is a covered area like a tent where the reception is at. But it looked elegant inside. I'm very impressed by the food. The variety and quality of the food were fantastic. Probably the some of the best food I've had at a wedding. I was getting full during cocktail hour. The couple has Latin and Italian roots and their heritage were celebrated through food and I loved that. When I RSVP'ed for the wedding, I sent in my meal selection and I had forgotten I chose chicken. And I was filled with fear because catered chicken tends to be dry - not the one at this wedding. I enjoyed it so much. The wedding cake was made by a contestant on Food Network. But the spread for dessert was also fabulous. Overall, an impressive place for a wedding.

I would email them so sporadically and they would always reply quickly and professionally. On the day of our wedding, our coordinator and bridal attendant were extraordinary!!! We worked with Alyssa and Ares and they were so professional, detail oriented, attentive and kind. My parents and I were in awe at how helpful they were!! Everything was absolutely flawless from start to finish. The venue was the perfect backdrop for our special day. They really executed every detail. Even their house decor was fabulous! Additionally, I must mention the food. Our guests have not stopped raving about how delicious everything was. The cocktail hour Mac and cheese and dinner braised short rib were the big hits. Shoutout to the culinary team! Thank you once again for everything. We are so grateful for choosing PenRyn to host our special day.

Let me start with that the food was good; very good in fact, but nothing special or to write home about. What really makes the place shine is the views, the feeling of exclusivity, and the staff. The staff is the real highlight and plays into every aspect of a great time here. You are treated as an honored guest from the minute you arrive until the minute you leave, and it is amplified if you are someone's guest they really put the effort in to treat everyone with the utmost respect and make the dining and relaxation experience at the price point that I am sure the members are paying for the opportunity. The views of the city are wonderful. Having worked a job that allowed me access to the roofs of nearly every high rise in the city, I have seen every angle and panorama of Philadelphia from up high, but the windowed seat views of the entire city while dining here are unparalleled. It is nothing if not the biggest selling point of the experience. I would love to return to see the view at night, but I don't think I will likely ever have that opportunity. If you have the luck of being invited here or given a chance at membership, check it out. It's one of the most unique places to eat in Market st financial area, and you won't regret it.

He stayed in contact with me throughout the entire process and even gave me a courtesy call on the morning of my wedding to confirm everything. I had to increase the chair order about a week before my wedding -- No Problem! It was worked out with a five minute phone call. Additionally, David arrived before the time I had asked him to and was already midway through setting up before I even arrived! Considering the location and the fact that the traffic into the city that day was awful, I was beyond impressed. Hiring him was one of the easiest parts of my wedding and the best decision I made as he literally made it stress-free. I will happily recommend Happy Time Rentals and will be contracting him for all my future events.

Living with a family was amazing, I was able to live 'like a local', riding my bike or taking the buses and U-Bahn subway everywhere. Two of the things I enjoyed the most were the great German beers and the delicious German food. These were the days when the beer selection ranged from Genesee to Michelob and Corona was exotic. Good times. Fast forward to this year when good German beer is much easier to buy here but the food is still not so easy to find. Sure you can find 'Americanized" German food like bratwurst, but nothing like what I had all those years ago. Then fellow Yelper Jessica Wa excitedly told me about the Canstatter Volkfest. A real Volksfest, like the ones I went to in Berlin? Yesss! So off we go on a comfortable summer day. The beer was very good Warsteiner, a solid German brand. There were the Americanized German food stands with their "brats" and fries, and then way in the back was the authentic German food. Aaah. This is what I was hoping for and yes, it delivered. Granted, it's still festival food but it was very delicious for that. We enjoyed the music, the crafts, the giant sculpture made entirely of fruits and veggies, but for me the authentic food was the absolute best. Parking was tight - they have a large grassy area that was full, we ended up finding a spot about a block away. Pro tip: There's a full bar inside the main clubhouse open for business AND much better, clean bathrooms too! I'm looking forward to next year, getting my German food fix in again along with some good beer and music too.
