We were very disappointed with Suffern's quality of work. We had a 50' asphalt driveway put in…read morewhich was supposed to be 3" thick. The only part that was 3" was the center of the driveway. I watched the crew, and they only used the probe stick in the center. At the base of the driveway, they ran out of material in the hopper, and instead of backing up the tri-axle, they just spread the remaining material around causing the beginning of the driveway to be very thin. They also did not excavate deep enough prior to laying down new base material, so the driveway sits up about 4" which also contributes to the following problem. Within a few months the edges of the driveway crumbled away and I called to ask for someone to come out and meet me. They would never show up when we had planned meetings, but would show up and place a report in my mailbox stating they were not going to fix the driveway because we drove over the edges. This is not my first house or first asphalt driveway. If it was the correct thickness and excavated properly, it would not crumble away. The one area is where it had been driven over while turning in from the street, but the straight away is also crumbling and no one has driven over that area. It's been a year now, and the driveway looks terrible from the street.

I also needed some help getting a new wind stop/chain installed on a swinging screen door in the basement. They were the only service I reached out to who asked for specific details about the jobs before providing a quote, which is a great way to do business. They also provided a real time of expected arrival instead of something like a four-hour window taking up your entire day. They arrived a little before the time quoted with two people - one the main handyman and one being trained. They did a prompt and excellent job and the cost was very fair. I almost don't want to tell everyone how good they are because then they'll become too busy, ha! They truly deserve your business.

Longer story: We learned about Prime 1 from neighbors of ours who had a renovation/addition done. The quality of the work was excellent, so we knew that Prime 1 was the right choice for our addition/renovation. We are thrilled that we made this decision because we could not be happier with our renovations! The team was professional and personable, and was on top of every detail. Someone was at our house every weekday during the renovation period. Every single day! Our neighbors were so astounded by how diligent the team was at getting work done all the time, and how organized they were in terms of keeping to the timeline. They also kept our home very clean--as clean as possible during a big renovation. It made it much easier for us. They were very collaborative about what needed to be done and shared ideas with us when we needed them, but also were on board with what we wanted when we wanted something that perhaps was outside the norm. This was so appreciated because we have specific tastes and really wanted exactly what we wanted. A couple of small issues came up, and they were handled very well--Dan and his team made sure that any problems (all minor) were remedied immediately. By the end I felt like we had a new set of friends and was a bit sad to say goodbye to them, but we are thrilled to have our newly renovated home to enjoy!
