Poor Customer Service - Will Not even Answer The Phone…read more I wanted to make a purchase from the Gadsden Alabama Academy Store yesterday. I wanted to see the item I was purchasing prior to the purchase and not just the pictures and description online. Before driving the 1/2 hour to the store, I called the Gadsden Store (256-439-6260) six times to see if the item I wanted was in stock. Despite all my efforts, I could only reach the automated answer line and was stuck holding on it. I was never able to contact a live associate at the Gadsden Store. Thinking the store may be closed, I called the Academy Customer Service Number (888-922-2336) two times. I was again stuck with an automated answer line and left holding. I then called the Trussville Alabama Store (205-661-5500). Wow, a real human answered the phone. I was informed that the Gadsden Store was open. I asked to leave my contact information and for the District Manager to return my call. I was put on hold and another associate came on the line. They stated they had attempted to call both the Gadsden Store and the District Manager and were unable to contact them. This entire episode is a terrible reflection on Academy Sports + Outdoors and their customer service. If I am not valued as a customer, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

The young girl that helped us informed us that she was new and kept pushing some shoes that she was wearing that were lined with fur, she kept mentioning how she just posted them on social media, etc. etc. I said I'm sorry we are here specifically for Birkenstocks and maybe to look at some of the ON brand shoes When my daughter picked up a para Bourke in stocks, I said to her how much do these cost? She said oh probably about 160 I said well let's not guess let's find out what they cost while I was waiting. I started to look at other shoes and was very interested in two or three other pairs for myself Along the walls. I noticed that not one pair of shoes in this entire store with the exception of clearance, Shoes had any price tags whatsoever and given the aforementioned work when I asked how much another pair was, I did not have the energy nor the desire to chase down prices on every pair I wanted to look at, I did mention this to one of the other girls and she said the owner for us for putting prices on the shoes because we just have such a high turnover in our shoes. We couldn't possibly keep track of the prices which is bullshit. My daughter ended up finding a pair of Birkenstocks. She liked. I asked the girl if she was going to fit them as far as tightening the buckles so that she could break them properly and she looked at me like I was speaking. Greek never bought a pair of Birkenstocks, where they didn't gladly help you adjust them so they would be broken in properly. Amy waited on me and was so patient while I tried on so many shoes. They had a fantastic assortment of styles and it was hard to make a decision. She was so helpful and patient! I would definitely recommend this store. Great assortment of stylish shoes and I love, love love my boots!!! Mostly women's shoes but I watched my husband looking over the mens shoe selection as well.
