Shogun is clean, driven to help guests, and has good food! It can be on the higher side but they're close to the top of my list here in NWA

You get to see your own food cooked in the grill it was amazing I loved this place would recommend.

I was shocked at how terrible our experience was. The restrooms were disgusting, the entrance was full of trash on the floors, and they used the entire front area as a "worker's lounge" as if there was a locker room to welcome guests. The seating area was covered in dirty floors and full of tables not bussed. Even the walls were dirty and had things all over them and lots of chipped paint. We waited 45 minutes for our chef to begin cooking at the grill. He left the grill three different times leaving food on the grill causing it to become overcooked. He was very inattentive and distracted. I would not recommend eating at this restaurant or choosing this hibachi experience. read more

This place is everything you want in a fun dinner party out with Friends and family. Very entertaining, clean many different spaces and types of dining to be enjoyed. The service was all kind, fun, fast, and professional. They seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Food, is why I gave them the 5 star. Everything was let me try that again good! Man, went to shogun on a date night and was so utterly disappointed. Tried ordering some shumai and the waiter couldn't even pronounce it.That wasn't even the worst part about it, shrimp tasted like it had been seasoned with hopes and dreams. And let me tell ya, the entree wasn't anything to write home about either. The steak that the ball&chain and I ordered was built like chris farley, all fat. White sauce had a hellacious amount of mold in it, this ain't cheese! all of that added up to $100 bucks, that's a 12th of a stimmy check. Chicken and veggies gas though ngl. Why? Why would you change your fried rice recipe? Nobody and I mean nobody wants green beans and corn in their rice. Why would you change a recipe that brought you many customers. Been a fan of Shogun since the 1990s but I find that there is more variety in the area now at attractive prices... Still, Shogun is always the go-to place for certain events like birthdays or celebrations because it remains an 'experience.' They have casual tables and bar dining available but honestly... What's the point of that? You go here for the show and spectacle of being entertained by a Benihana-style performer (and many of them are quite good, very talented and indeed very funny!) However, be sure to know that this place can be loud and is quite chaotic. Expect to feel the heat as they blaze vodka not just in front of you but from the tables behind you. This sort of experience isn't going to be for everyone as it can get very loud and make it hard to talk to anyone not directly next to you. Also expect to sit shoulder to shoulder with a member of another dinner party. Also, you might have to wait sometimes until the table fills, or until the chef comes out to begin. Still, I absolutely recommend the experience at least once if you haven't tried it. and if you are an out-of-towner looking for a place to try this is a solid bet, (especially if you're with a crew from work.) The consistency of the food and service and the price are my only qualms with this place. How your food turns out will vary depending on the chef, his style, and his attentiveness to the food. Sometimes the rice is better than others. Sometimes the chicken can have more or less flavor. Sometimes things just taste a bit different than I remember them tasting (Things like this.) It helps to remember to ask for extra sauce near the end (in case of chicken teriyaki, or beef, for example) and don't be afraid or too shy to ask for more ginger or mustard sauce (They used to make it more potent!) Geez they do have good sauces here. Despite the price, it's still good food, and quite a bit of it. I don't think I've ever been hungry enough to eat everything in the hibachi dinner (probably what you'll want to get.) IF you're staying in a hotel or looking for a container of leftovers the next day. Shogun is a solid. I had the basic chirashi platter and overall enjoyed it. It was actually a good value and was a generous portion of sashimi. It contained the core basics such as tuna (maguro) salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, and i believe some kind of whitefish (my least favorite and i wonder if i can make a subsitition and request something else next time.) Maybe it was a coincidence but was also the strongest wasabi I've ever had too! A+ for presentation... it was arranged in a circular pattern in a wooden bowl that had actual bamboo leaves to separate the fish from each other (A first for me, and I actually really appreciated seeing this over the baran grass divider which emulates it!) and was served with a generous amount of sushi rice which was great. I'm torn because I really like the hibachi dinners here (Their scallops are very high end, super buttery delicacy) but this was both an excellent value and a generous amount. For the time being, I think I'll continue to explore the sushi subtypes here more in the future. It could be that the sushi chefs here are the secret stars of shogun if they can continue to deliver both quality, value, and aesthetic with consistency. read more

Terrible. Slow. We were seated and waited for almost 25 minutes. The restaurant was not busy. Servers were standing around talking to one another. No one brought water. No one took our order. We got up and asked to speak to the manager. After some period of time, a man came out and said he was the manager. We told him what happened. He said sorry about that and walked away. With so many choices in restaurants in Northwest Arkansas give this one a miss. read more

Awful! Don't waste your time or money. It took an hour and a half to get our food. I was charged $16 for a "side" of fried rice.

Is common courtesy or help not something people do anymore? We first arrived to the restaurant at 12:45 for lunch. Being Black Friday we expected a wait, and waited about 10 minutes. We asked about the bar, which we were told it was closed in the morning and they didn't have a bartender. We sat down, and had a couple questions about the sushi rolls and sake and our waitress was dull and unhelpful. We asked about the teriyaki bowl and she said it was "basically how we cook our chicken", and when asking about sushi she told us to refer to the menu - which we had and couldn't find it. It was just unbecoming. As we sat down, we realized several people going to the bar and the woman working the front desk was behind the bar serving them. This was frustrating as we were told the bar was closed and there was no bartender yet they were being served by the same person who told us it was not available. It was very odd and no one seemed excited about their job or helping the people who were trying to have lunch. Just a weird experience and overall bummer. read more

I agree with the other reviews here, this place used to be very nice. A great date spot. We went last night. Everything was very dirty and not kept up. Carpet stained. The tables were sticky and we killed about 10 flies swarming our food the entire time and we were inside! The whole place feels unsanitary. The service was terrible and took forever. Food was not worth the money. It was 60 dollars just for the two of us. Don't waste your money here. read more

Although I have become a "fussy" sushi person, I can attest you'll have a good meal at Shogun. Finding myself solo on a Saturday night with a late movie ticket I decided to get something at Shogun prior. Seated at the bar or at one of the high tops in the bar area I think is the way to go with a nice view. Isaac was my server at the bar and he immediately won me over. Side rant to servers/hosts: "Just one?" when approached by a single diner sounds like they have failed by showing up alone. I immediately feel like I should apologize for being "just one", while knowing that I'm going to tip for better for average and ridiculously better for superior service than your 4-top. Isaac says "Are you treating yourself tonight, or is someone else joining you?" Classy. Score big points. Servers: be like Isaac. Isaac made sure I got a little taste of a new beer before ordering a glass and I had everything I needed. I ordered the "sashimi salad" and it was enjoyable, but I don't expect my "sashimi" to be cut into tiny pieces. It was closer to poke in that respect, but tasty. I had to envy the guy who ordered sashimi and got slices as you would expect. Isaac checked in occasionally to make sure I would make my movie on time. Food is good, on this evening service was exceptional. Worth checking out. read more

This place used to be nice. Considered more of a finer dining date spot. Pretty views and ambience, but it has really run down. my daughter and I had sushi, 2 rolls. The sushi was decent. The service was slow despite it being early lunch time and not very busy. We were sat in front of the fish tank, which is beautiful, but the rest of the surrounding area was filthy. I even mentioned it to the server and his response was "I wish they took better care of the place." It was a big disgusting turn off, sitting there with our food. Also, there is a "processing charge" added to your bill. The server didn't know what that was about either. This was in addition to the taxes. read more

First, must say service was good and food was pretty good - they use mushrooms instead of tofu in their miso soup (what?) and did not include a dessert with their hibachi however... they charged us their state liquor tax of 3% on our ENTIRE bill, instead of just the alcoholic drinks ordered... instead of $3 they charged us $19!! My husband did not want to make a scene so we just paid and left, but I am livid about that garbage. How dare they?!?! read more

My son has food allergies and Landon made sure everything was fine for him. They prepared his food on a separate grill in the back but he was included in the experience. So the best part of the meal was the entertainment of the chef cooking at the grill. The disappointing part was the comments from the chef grilling that they expected his tips to be-in cash. We tipped the chef and the server so plan on between 30-40% for a tip. On top of the price of $20-30 a plate for dinner. The service was just so so the drinks from the bar were extremely slow and refills on drinks almost none existent. It took over 2 hours to eat and get out of the restaurant. Tonight was the worst experience to date at any Shogun. Our sever was horrible. She couldn't seem to remember anything, brought us food we clearly told her we were allergic to (dairy). We had to ask multiple times for everything we received. The salad was soggy and drown in dressing. The chicken was overcooked. The sauce you usually receive with meals never came out. The reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one, is because the scallops were decent. I even had to send back my drink because "they were out of their regular mix so they tried to make it up" and it was horrible. read more

We left, on our way out told the hostess she smiled and said have a good night. This used to be a great date night restaurant where you payed a little more but had better service. Shogun is a special, fun place to go for any fun celebration. For us we came to celebrate my daughters 14th bday. We made reservations for the hibatchi grill at 7:00 pm. We were seated by 7:08. While we were sitting waiting for our chef to arrive there was a group opposite of the table who's dinner had just started. The chefs name was King and he truly knew how to engage a crowd while making dinner. We laughed so hard just watching and waiting to start ours. I was able to order shrimp fried rice gluten free. They made it in the back so I was not concerned about cross contamination. When our chef Logan arrived we were excited to get started. He confirmed our order in a normal way and made any needed corrections. While he was cooking he mentioned how King was the chef who trained him. The food prepared was tasty and plentiful. Overall we enjoyed our experience however I will say King needs to be training all the chefs in engaging the customer. His stories, personality, and engagement with the cooking were so fun to watch. I am sure Logan is thankful to have a trainer like King and I hope he follows his lead into the future. If we ever go back I will for sure try to request King as our chef or excited to see how Logan grows as a chef ;-). read more

I lived in Fayetteville for 13 years and this was my "go-to" for a fine dinner...always consistent and delicious, but returning to visit Fayetteville and getting excited about a wonderful meal was cut short by the time our appetizer arrived...I've had better food and service at a Panda. So utterly disappointed!! It was filthy in the restaurant and restroom...they told us "last call" before we finished our salad and the half eaten nasty volcano roll sat on our hibachi station throughout the meal. Pricey and busy. If you're wondering if they need your business they will definitely treat you like they don't. But the show the chef puts on is entertaining and the food is decent. The place is nice. Had a situation happen with a family member arriving late that really upset them because they wanted the entire group to seat at the same time. But it was my father's birthday and he went to bed early so we couldn't wait for my brother in law to get off work. The brother in law wasn't even eating just wanted to say hi and wish dad a happy birthday. But since they pack you in like sardines, they were annoyed with the addition.
