Name is Kandis, often eat here with mom and dad so much that they know which table we enjoy sitting at. Im a vegetarian and enjoy ordering tofu while they eat from buffet. They do not have curry tofu on their menu. So when I saw they offered curry beef, I asked if I could have that but replace beef with tofu. They said sure and it became a common order for me. Today, I was going to order online, like I commonly do, but decided to call to actually try and cut down on confusion to help. I asked if I could get the indian curry with tofu. The woman on the phone who I've seen frequently up front, immediately changed tone. Aggressively said "Uh, I think you have the wrong restaurant we don't sell indian curry. I went back to how I usually ordered it. She said "Are you the person who orders online sometimes?" I said yes and she told me she cant hear me, I tried again louder and she legit hung up on me. I didn't think the order was taken so I went in to order in person. I was immediately attacked by the lady who usually greets us when she points to the seat. She said "don't say Indian curry. There are many different curries thai, singapore etc. Woman behind counter as well. As harsh as the suddenly turned on me I can only assume they have an issue with Indian people or something. You wanna know the best part? I added a photo that shows on their own menu, the curry beef is stated to be in classic Indian curry sauce... I showed on the menu and they both just kept on. I sat down to wait, a girl comes in for pickup and I hear them talking about "its one of those days..." She is always front desk help, only cashier and calls. I RUINED her day apparently for trying to be more specific. They had one elderly customer for the buffet and rest were pickups. I apologized for ruining her day as I looked over the empty building. Aside the two other pickups (one for door dash). The fact that the lady said there are so many types of curry, however wants me to order by saying "curry tofu" (not on the menu). This supported me, because how would I know if they're using the sauce I wanted or yellow curry, green curry, red curry, all these different kinds she told me about? Anyways..., pretty agitated, pretty hurt, thought they enjoyed having us only for them to turn heel for daring to call something on their menu "Indian". Dimly lit with low ceilings and traditional Asian elevator music setting the mood, I felt like I was walking into the basement to pick up my own mogwai. Unfortunately, Gizmo and Stripe were nowhere to be found. Greeted instead by a pleasant young woman with a welcoming smile, I was told I could sit wherever I like so I chose a table close to the small buffet. Offering a third of what a typical Chinese buffet presented, the 3/4 square layout had me optimistic that the quality would make up for the quantity. It did not. Pretty much just a lunch special divided into separate heat trays, the food tasted the same as it looked; instant and cooked last minute for a small family gathering. I've given up carbs lately (I know the hypocrisy), but as a last minute effort to find something worth going back for seconds I had a scoop of the fried rice. The taste was...off. More charred than fried, and it had a dryness to it I didn't expect. A refill on the unsweet tea helped get the first and last bite down. However unsavory the first plate I opted to try the sushi. There were three choices and none of them looked spectacular. Kind of like a "buy a car get a free iPad" only the iPad turns out to be an old 2nd gen iPod. The sushi was the iPod. The texture and temperature confirmed it had been sitting under the lights for quite some time and the cream cheese overpowered what little bit of protein was stuffed in the layers of five minute rice. Not impressed. I will admit, the service was excellent from the time I walked in until the time I walked out. Friendly staff, warm personalities, my glass stayed full and my table clear. The buffet was Awful that was more like cat on a stick not chicken, it smelt gross the rice was cold, the shrimp and vegetables were about all I could say was "ok" but it was cold too. The water was the only thing that tasted good to me. I still have a bad taste in my mouth and it's been almost 6 hours since we ate there. Never again at this place. And if you pay with cash they don't ring it up on the cash register so that means they aren't claiming it on taxes, it's Shady place if you ask me. read more

My wife and I went here for dinner in fort smith. The hostess was very friendly and the place wasn't very full (which I like). The art and decorations were definitely very pretty and gave the place a good vibe. We only came for sushi but they had a large buffet and also hibachi grills where you could sit and watch the crazy cooks prepare great food in front of you. Our sushi was not only fresh and tasted great but it was very affordable. The only complaint I have is our waitress making really strange and weird remarks about herself throughout our dinner without ever being prompted to lol. It has been some time since my last visit, but I didn't hesitate to recommend it to my sister who is visiting from out of town for us to order carry out. For all but the chicken lo mein I ordered, it was not the same caliber of food I remembered. The egg drop soup was runny with little taste, and the noodles for topping were limp, not crispy. My sister's crab Rangoon was all cream cheese inside with no other flavor. She was reluctant to try the hot and sour soup because the coloring was very dark compared to other restaurants. The Chinese Food is very good and prepared well. However, I suggest you take it as they prepare it because they will up charge for everything while not taking anything off for what you don't want. A single dinner can get very expensive very quickly. I would have given more stars except that the service is very rude, especially the girl working the front. The owner is very nice and did make the girl apologize for her blatant rudeness, but they really should have someone else who is more GENUINELY friendly working the front. Absolutely delicious food at a great price! Truly a wonderful surprise for this out-of-town visitor. I wanted something quick and easy that wasn't "fast food" for my one night in Fort Smith. I was able to get my food quickly, and it was so much better than a chain restaurant! I was shocked by how large the portions were for such low prices. Although my food wasn't ready in the 15 minutes quoted by the app I ordered from, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, so the extra 5 minutes did not feel like an inconvenience. I feel like it's often a trade-off with local restaurants between fast service, low prices and portion size, but I would say this place has found a great balance. I wasn't sure why this place was called "Shougun Steakhouse". I thought a steakhouse consisted with the main course to be...well...steak. This place had japanese and chinese food available for you. You can either order from the menu or a buffet; but with all honesty, I've had take-out food tasting better than this place. If you want sushi, it's an alright place to go, since it seems to be the only sushi place in Ft. Smith. But my husband and I believe we've just been spoiled with other sushi restaurants from other states (we're visitors). The fish in the sushi was too dry and didn't taste fresh at all, the wasabi was even starting to color to brown (which I've never seen before). Yes, this is a buffet restaurant with two islands. Unfortunately, only one island with normal dishes and the second had a tray of melon bowls, a tray of 7 to 8 cake slices, bowl of peach slices, remnants of pineapples, 5 to 6 orange slices, few jello cubes, a midsize bowl of peel and eat shrimps and most importantly, their sushi spread. Oh yes, I can't forget the sugared donuts, without the sugar (just greasy) and few fried wontons. Did I mention that there was a sushi spread? Let me revise that and say a small sushi tray. This consisted of fried egg and cream cheese roll, julienne cucumber and imitation crab meat roll. If, you wanted any of the real sushi rolls, yes you got it, this can be ordered for extra charge. Hey, I don't mind paying for the sushi, had I known there was no sushi spread as part of the buffet. Perhaps, I was reading too much into the advertisement? This had to be the worst sushi availability at a Chinese buffet restaurant. I would have to say, it was worse than the one star rated buffet restaurant in Federal Way in WA. I dream of their volcano roll and hibachi noodles in my sleep. I've even brought noodles back from a visit for my hubby. For some reason I compare lots of sushi places to this one. I guess its because its where I fell in love with sushi. Another reason is that it seems clean and the rolls always fresh, or at least as fresh as it can be in the middle of the U.S. The service is very attentive yet distant, which is huge in my book .And I love a place that remembers your favorites(or maybe i've been too many times?). I paid $14 for one roll, the volcano roll. It use to be my favorite roll at shoguns but it seems to taste worse each time i order it. For the price, the quality of the sushi is definitely not worth it. The buffet there also does not look appetizing. Shogun DOES have the best sushi in Fort Smith. Forget what you heard about Fuji being the best because it's not. The sushi rice at Shogun IS sushi rice, at Fuji it's just plain rice. The fish tastes much fresher and it's never mushy or without flavor, the salmon is delicious with the light smoke flavor (at Fuji it's not smoked and it's ALWAYS mushy), and the price, well it's sushi but it's not outrageous. My husband is not a sushi person so he always gets the buffet which he says it's ok not great but I myself only get the sushi. I'm giving it 5 stars for the sushi. read more

My wife and I eat here regularly. Today we received our check with an 18% gratuity charge on it. I inquired about it and it was removed. I was very upset about the side hustle, and did not leave a tip as a result. Shogun put this same charge on last time; and I just paid the 18%. Of course, I was angered and didn't leave a tip last time. Usually I tip every time, unless the service was bad. When I was leaving today my server said in a very rude manner, "Oh Sir, I forgot! We put that on the check for people who never tip." I've never been so disrespected. I had never had this waiter first of all, just like I hadn't had the waitress. I tip well when I receive good service; It is a privilege to receive a tip as a good server, not mandatory. I will NOT be returning. The staff is usually wonderful, from the management to the chefs, but these servers are the reason I will not be returning. If this is how Shogun treats it's loyal customers, then I see why they don't have many. Save your money and have a better experience at Fuji. I went here for the first time while visiting my brother and sister-in-law and niece near Van Buren. The place has a standard Chinese buffet, but they also have a good-sized sushi and sashimi menu. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi and sashimi. I also had a squid salad that was yummy! Gotta try that if you're a fan! My brother had the buffet, and I tasted one of the gyoza dumplings - it was a little different than what I'm used to, and had quite a bit of cabbage in it. I would say the buffet, as far as "looks" go, was about average, nothing to write home about. I would go back here to try more of the sushi and sashimi menu, but I'd probably steer clear of the buffet personally - not a fan of too many fried foods... not because I don't like them, but they don't like me. read more

The food I have had here is pretty good. I'm giving them 2 stars because of a service issue I had there last night. Three is us had dinner there, we got two separate checks. After they took our credit cards, our waitress disappeared. When she finally came back nearly 10 minutes later, she told us that our original bills had not reflected the correct prices for the beers we had drank. Which is fine, mistakes happen. My issue is that they ran our cards before bringing the mistake to our attention. The difference was only a few dollars, but it's the principal of the matter that bothers me. You don't charge someone's card for a different amount than what the bill reflected. If a mistake was made, discuss it with me first! read more
