It has been years since I was last at Shooters and two of the reasons was a lack of air flow and an uncovered dirt berm. The facility and layout was just fine but those 2 things just distracted away from the positive. Today I visited again and I was pleasantly surprised to see the difference in air quality and the added berm coverage that I previously mentioned. Service was courteous and professional, lane fees were reasonable and on certain days discounts for service members, older folks, and I would imagine law enforcement. Overall a great day for shooting and now I have no problem giving this shooting experience 5 stars. Glad I decided to use this facility for today's shoot. Thomas B. read more

I feel like I should be grateful since it's the only shooting range in the area, but it comes with a lot of drawbacks. The rules are pretty excessive, especially things like not being able to shoot AR pistols without a suppressor and limiting you to one shot per second. That restriction in particular feels unrealistic since it doesn't reflect how you'd actually respond in a self-defense situation; it turns everything into slow target shooting rather than practical training. On top of that, it's not cheap, and the equipment feels outdated and worn for what you're paying. That said, the staff are genuinely nice, which is a definite plus. read more

Great place - can't say enough positive things. Frank DeMato helped me refresh and clean my existing pistols, etc. Owner and employees have always been friendly and helpful to me. If you're female and concerned about trying this place because of how you might be treated - don't be. It's a lot of fun and stress relief for a very small price. Ahh Shooters a sister company to Shooters outdoor and together two of the most tedious, sissiest, ranges Ive ever been to first off they charge you $20 for 50 rounds when you can go to academy or any other sports goods store and get 100 rounds for the same amount. The mags are overpriced, the building is very run down and not worth the trip at all in my opinion. They watch you on the camera and window thats right over your shoulder when you're shooting. They also have a one shot per second rule so you can't even test your weapon under rapid firing circumstances even at the outdoor range. Im trying to find something about this range that I actually enjoy and cannot think of anything. Overall I think they should really sit down and think long and hard on how they can improve the condition and rules here at this range. read more

Had an ffl transfer here from guns.com out of like 5 different store options I choose this store. Let's start with ease of pickup $30 for the transfer showed up when I received a call that it was ready showed up and filled some paper work out background check and paid then out the door I was. Super cool dudes inside not the typical gun shop guys you would expect talkative, professional and a sense or humor. While inside I seen a lady come out of the shooting range and was smiling from cheek to cheek happy and said bye and I swear everyone was like family. Will be back! read more

love this place, only complaint I have was this one customer there. I'lolnever forget Scott N. This guy had to be the biggest walking talking Tampon I've ever seen in my life. "Ahh Geez, I'm Scott N. I'm a yelper, geez the air smells like gun smoke. The fumes are getting to me, Wow geez look at these walls in the shooting range it's like my Grandmothers basement, Ahhh geez it's so cramped in here for a giant tampon like myself, I'm leaving a yelp review because I'm a giant tampon" I'm just trying to shoot my brand new .357 colt Python in peace and Scott N. is complaining so loud and often It was drowning out the sound of Thunder canon. I eventually took my ear pro off and purposely defended myself. It was in vain. I hear Scott N. in my dreams. I see a shrink now, he says Scott N isn't with me in the room and he can't hurt me but i hear him. I know he's still out there, crying. Being a giant tampon. Complaining about normal things. Great place though, staff is cool and knowledgable. Got this sweet hand canon. Even wrote me a fake receipt that said I got the Python for $100 so my wife wasn't mad. read more

"Cheapest Therapy in Town" Shooters Indoor Range & Gun Shop was established in Augusta in 1993. They are open to the public 7 days a week. They have a climate-controlled indoor shooting range featuring 11 lanes, 25 yards long which is pretty standard for an indoor range. I shoot here regularly and think it's a great looking range. The staff is always courteous and helpful. They have even loaned me a hammer release tool for my revolver when I forgot mine. I have done firearm transfers here and the process was completed efficiently. The staff has always been helpful and pleasant. As a person who has been around firearms his entire life I highly recommend this establishment. They are extremely accommodating and professional and take safety seriously. So stop on in and try some therapy the shooters way! read more

The place is OK. The front area looks pretty nice but when you actually get to the shooting range part, it looks like your grandmothers basement. It's cramped inside, and the air handling equipment doesn't seem to work very well so the fumes can get to you after a while. The only reason I patronize this place is because it's the only indoor shooting range in town. read more

Four years later I decided to give them another shot (no pun intended). They've cleaned up their act and everything I whined about four years ago is now dismissed: 1.) The employees are no longer dicks nor will they blow you off. 2.) No longer will they nickel and dime you for dumb shit, minus shooting their binder clips. That will run you $5, well actually a trigger happy girlfriend ran me $5, a reasonable person will never hit it. 3.) They now give you detailed receipts - even listed the binder clip... 4.) Only rented one pistol from them in a while, it was clean. Don't know if that is the exception or the rule. Caveat - for those that are coming here for the first time or if it has been awhile, expect to attend their 8 minute video orientation. It's boring, bring popcorn. read more

Never know who's next to you shooting, glad that have well trained employees that can handle any situation if the need arises. "Cheapest Therapy in Town"...the sign greets you before walking in. If it's your first time to the range you have to fill out some e-forms and watch a gun safety video. You can rent eye and ear wear for the range and purchase several types of targets. They have several guns in the case to check out as well. The employees are very knowledgeable about guns and such and can give you pointers on how best to handle your weapon. It's nice to have an indoor range to let off some steam. read more

My husband and I went to Shooters today for our weekly date night. I called ahead because I have medical alert service dogs and needed an accommodation while we were there. The man I spoke to told me they had the perfect room and was very friendly. Unfortunately after arriving we were told the office/class room could only be used if one of us supervised the dog at all times. Being told 2 different stories after our 30m drive (1 way) to them was off putting, disappointing and noncompliant to the ADA rules for accommodations. With todays gas prices a wasted 40miles is not ok. I am relearning to shoot after a spinal cord injury and I need my husband to help load my weapon and guidance to correct my stance. Being told we could not shoot together ruined our trip and our experience at this range. I could have made a scene and forced the issue by law. However, we have had excellent experience at Pinetuckey the out door range and we opted to deal with the heat. We left Shooters and went to Pinetuckey shooting range and had a great time in the heat while they accommodated us easily. The staff we met at Shooters were very nice, knowledgeable, and professional. It was the owner who over ruled the manager who told me we could use the small classroom. If I was single with my spinal cord injury I would not be able to shoot at shooters at all even if I was a marksman. SD can not go into the live fire range for their safety. Bottom line is this business is not accessible for all individuals and that's a shame and illegal. We were looking at joining their membership, gun club, and shooting twice a week. They lost our business and I can not recommend this business to any of my clients, (I train service dogs) friends, or family I'm very disappointed. read more

I would rather drive to Atlanta and shoot at a range there then come back here. 1) Customer Service: 1/10 - Got the "Your an outsider feeling" and pretty much got shrugged off or got very simple answers with no attempt or care to even make any money. 2) Range Quality: Boy Scouts could have probably constructed a better quality range. 3) Selection and Price: Poor selection on hand-guns, like any place if you rent you have to use their ammo but they upsell the price of ammo, especially when you rent. 4) Poor selection for purchases. You can probably get a better deal online or if you have base access you can get a lot more on base or from other shops in Augusta. I definitely recommend you look elsewhere unless you have to absolutely pop a few rounds off. read more

Frank DeMato came highly recommended by several local gun stores since I'd never been a gun user before. It would be foolish to buy a gun I don't know how to use and I take buying a firearm seriously - as should we all. I took the Personal NRA Firearm Safety class. Upon leaving I can confidently say it was worth every penny and then some. I learned a TON in such a short time and shot so many different guns I quickly learned the gun I was originally interested in was NOT a good fit for my hand or style. I had a really decent time shooting here and coming from a state that practically wants a blood test and DNA sampling to shoot at a range, it was nice not getting the third degree for wanting to shoot a gun. At first glance, it looks like a tiny little shop by the roller rink but once you're inside you see that it's a brightly lit inviting store. I was sort of turned off shooting 'cause I hated my old gun so I was practically dragged to the range. I had to sit through a 2 hour class, attend a weekend class and take a test the last time so who could blame me really? The guys here were really friendly and helpful with the operations of their place. We put an ID down, watched their safety video and got a lane in very little time. We didn't stand around and twiddle our thumbs waiting for the next step and someone was always communicating with us which was terrific. The prices were reasonable, $12 for the first person and $7 for the next I want to say and no limit on time which is phenomenal. I hate feeling rushed and not allowing myself enough time to work on the fundamentals. I will say that their merchandise selection is a little on the weak side, especially compared to another local gun seller sharing a name with a tree. Pros: Decent prices, knowledgeable staff. 12$ for first person on lane, 6$ every person thereafter up to 5. They enforce the range rules very well - no dangerous rounds and they enforce a one-shot per second rule which I personally like. Cons: This place is packed all of the time, good for business owners, bad if you have to waste an hour of your Saturday waiting for a lane. If you're looking to start another business in Augusta proper I recommend some shooting lanes :) Staff is rude, all three of them working today were curt, short, and rough around the edges. The shooting range has zero circulation, you will be blowing lead and gunpowder into tissues for 24 hours after you visit. Took my newly acquired pistol and rifle to Shooters this afternoon. My wife and I had a good time. Watched a safety video, glad of that requirement because I have read some reviews of guests' lack of knowledge and experience... Gentlemen at the desk were helpful. It was very busy on a Saturday afternoon as to be expected. The firing range was ok. I could tell they haven't been worked on it in a while. The ventilation is really the only serious complaint I had about our experience. Even with the 20 or so fans, none of them are circulating air outside or vice versa.. read more

I like going here to shot my pistols. The place is warm in the winter and air conditioned in the summer. The staff has always been courteous and helpful. Oh, and the bathroom is always clean. If you are planning a handgun purchase they have rental handguns so you can try them out. The staff here have never been rude to me or my family members. One was very helpful when I purchased a rifle at a very good price, after checking other local places. The store has a good selection of shooting supplies and equipment. I go there about every 1-2 weeks. Unlike others who have reviewed here, I have never once had to wait for a shooting lane, though when I've left, there have sometimes been others waiting. They offer a Thursday PM discount for current and former military. They also host a low-key IDPA-type competition every 3rd Thursday. The place is far from perfect. They allow shotguns and rifles on the range. The resulting sound waves can shake the body and be deafening, even with good ear protection. The air conditioning system is underpowered, so it can get hot in there. And, ventilation is not good. Powder fumes do get in your nose and eyes; if this bothers you, you need to bring a professional respirator, not a surgeon's mask, and limit your time on the range. Lighting is poor. The ammo they sell is remanufactured - and the price for this is higher than new ammo from local and regional stores. But, you can bring your own, if you're shooting your own weapon. Shooting is only from a table, in a standing position. No way to practice other positions, or drawing from a holster. No way to practice rapid fire (limited to 1 shot per second). Folks, this is the only shooting range in Augusta GA. There's an outdoor range sometimes available to civilians out at Ft. Gordon, and there's a private outdoor range sometimes available to non-members in Blythe GA. Very well-appointed alternative indoor ranges are in Columbia SC and Atlanta. read more

May 2012 I had never fired any type of gun before and thought it might be a "fun thing to try." I went with 2 friends and we rented a gun (Glock 9mm) and safety gear (glasses, ear), bought a box of ammo and 3 targets for $60 total (gun $10, ammo $15, targets $3 per, glasses/ear $2 per, lane rental for 3 ($12+6 extra person+6) =$24). The reviews I had read before going to Shooters said the personnel were rude and the facilities were kinda low rent. With nothing to compare to, here is my take: The employee who helped us was less rude and more indifferent. We were hoping for a few more tips and safety guidelines (since we were completely unfamiliar with guns), but instead we got an uninspired basic lesson with a few eye rolls when we asked questions. In the end it WAS all we needed. The lanes looked like we expected...cracked, stained, smoky...but useable. They did little to inspire confidence in the safety of this place (we were a little apprehensive about this whole endeavor after all). We attached our targets with oh-so-sophisticated binder clips that were precariously dangling, but once again, perfunctory. We went on a Saturday around 11 am and they were busy busy. By the time we left (maybe 45 minutes later) there were several groups waiting for a lane. Overall we survived and it was interesting, but we are not likely to go back for more. read more

Obviously someone has an axe to grind. I've been a member at Shooters for years and never had these problems. Jason and Steve are nice guys. In terms of receipts, if you want a detailed receipt, they will print you one if asked. They do a good job of explaining the range fees and costs for targets and equipment. It's $12 for a range, $8 for extra shooters, $1 for ear or eye protection, and $1 for a target. Good luck finding better prices anywhere. Great Place to shoot. Went there with my son to break in three new guns, two handguns and a shotgun. Noted mixed reviews on the net but went anyway. The guys were great and very helpful. Loud, but what do you expect at a shooting range. I don't know what the guy with the negative review's problem was but the guys were great to us. First time at range earlier today, Thursday afternoon about 4pm. Was slow and received a lane in about 15 minutes. Signed in, and since it was my first time at Shooters watched safety video which was no problem at all, and understandable per safety. Video was about 8 minutes long and went over gun safety and general range safety and etiquette. They give you a card so when you return, you won't be required to watch the safety video again. Range cost was $12, paper targets $1.50 (2) for a total of about $16 with tax. It was slow, which was nice, only 3 in range, and 2 including myself when I left. Staff was friendly and answered any questions. Purchased first handgun the week prior, so wanted to get out to get some experience with it, but was hesitant being a "noob". Gun safety I understand and have practiced and was at ease with with first experience at Shooters and staff. read more

I bought my Ruger SR9c there and it is now my favorite pistol. It was priced decently compared to other places that I checked out and overall they have a really good selection for most budgets. They don't go too high-end (i.e. Kimber) and they don't go to low-end (Hi Point). Customer service and knowledge of the staff could be better. The display cases need to be upgraded and better lighting is definately needed at the counter and on the range. Bottom line is, if you want a place to go and put some ammo down range, purchase a really nice home defense weapon, or get some accessories or tactical gear, this is your place. If you are an elitest gun-snob who wants to know where the Range Master is... take yourself and the stick up your butt somewhere else. read more
