Decent range with reasonable prices...you ARE allowed to rapid fire here which is why I give 5 stars. They offer a military discount which is also a plus. I took my safety class here a few years ago in order to get my pistol permit and the instructor was very nice and informative. read more

I just have to leave this review to try to save others from wasting their time at Reeds Pistol Range (formally Shooters). I had been going to Shooters for years and found them to be top notch, respectful, friendly, helpful, fair and very pleasant. Basically, they had personality and integrity. The new Reeds Range possesses none of these qualities. I have recently been going there more often since they opened more after some of the pandemic protocols were lifted. I have brought numerous people in to this range to either shoot or look to purchase a firearm or both. As we all know, firearms and ammo are hard to come by lately which makes it even more difficult to decide what to buy for some people. I brought a friend of mine into Reed's to buy a firearm which they actually had in stock. My friend is a first time buyer and would have appreciated a little kindness and hand holding while going through the process with paper work etc. The couple of employees working there at the time could not have been more dis-interested. The lack of personality, warmth and customer service skills were in my opinion quite disgusting. I even said hello to the owner, Bill Reed, who I earlier had a conversation with to let him know I was bringing a friend of mine to buy a firearm. He didn't even have the common decency to stop and say hello to me or my friend who was spending a good deal of money in his store. Not even an acknowledgment that we were even there. If not for the current state of affairs regarding firearm availability I would have dragged my friend out of that store and went somewhere else even if meant that he would have to spend more money. I would have paid my friend the difference on principle alone. Goes without saying, I would rather drive 30 more minutes out of my way to spend my money elsewhere than to walk into that range again. I am a Veteran and a Retired Police Officer, and this range, its owner and employees have no clue on how to treat people with the exception of Brent who has always been respectful, courteous, friendly and sincere. I surely miss the previous owners at Shooters and can only hope that another range opens up in the immediate area one day soon and does it right. I expect that Reeds will no longer exist soon after that opening. To the owner, Bill Reed, you have a lot to learn about people and the first thing you should do is get a personality, fire your staff, except Brent and start over. Maybe, just maybe you will survive. I've shot here a couple of times. In addition, I took my CT mandated NRA course here to get my CCP. I think that is a separate company that shares the same space. I think there is something about all gun stores/ranges where they seem to think that customer service just does not matter. As someone else mentioned, they are pretty abrupt when they give you instructions about the range. I think they need to realize who pays the bills. All that said, its a nice place, clean, well lit, comfortable, etc. All indoor ranges seem to be a bit pricey, but they are maintaining a lot of stuff for our fun. I have been to far worse places! Do not go here, I repeat, DO NOT GO HERE. I have used Shooters for a couple of transfers, both times they have given me the absolute worst customer service I have ever received anywhere. The first incident was receiving a surplus Nagant rifle (still liven in CT at the time). They called me to tell me that the rifle was in and ready to be picked up. I drove down to the store and they then informed me that my rifle was not actually in, they had made a mistake. Ok fine, everyone makes a mistake once in a while. Next when they called me to tell me the rifle had arrived, I go down to the store to find that I was "lucky" the manager hadn't "locked it in the back", because "he does that" when he is not around. Apparently he cannot trust his employees enough to do buisness when he is not around, it would have been another wasted trip to the store. Next I took part in transfering a handgun out of state (from my father to myself, after moving to CA). Shooters told me they had to overnight the package to the tune of $60 shipping. They took my money and promptly forgot about shipping it for an entire week. They did not ship it untill I called them multiple times and finally got them on the ball. Once they sent the gun, I found out from the other FFL in CA that they neglected to include the specific paperwork I had given to them with the gun, without which the transfer could not go through (CA state specific). I then had to call them again, to get them to send the paperwork, which took multiple calls, because the people working the phone didn't know who handled it. When the gun finally arrived, it did so in a square cardboard box that the gun barely fit into, touching barrel, hammer and grip in the corners, making the minimal padding that they placed around the gun even more useless. So, as one might expect the gun was beat up. The slide was so jacked up from the lack of padding and proper packaging that the takedown pin had to be hit back into place with a rubber mallet before the slide would rack. How difficult is it to place a gun in a rectangular box and wrap it in bubble wrap? It isn't rocket science. The people at Shooters should not be trused with your firearm, period. I can't speak for the gun range aspect of their buisness, but as far as customer service goes, they are the worst. I have been in the store before and seen multiple customers waiting to be helped while two or three employees just sit in chairs behind the counter, too lazy to do anything, while one employee helps the growing line. Simply put, these people do not deserve your business, they have no ambition to earn your business, and when they have the chance, they screw it up at every availible opportunity. Please, do not waste your time here. Go somewhere else that will do the work on time and properly. I made the mistake of giving them a second chance, let my mistake help you to not make it. They simply run a bad buisness, and should be avoided at all costs. read more

Good range to practice your pistol shooting. No requirements to buy their ammo or their targets. They don't bust your chops on rental time to the minute. They have a fun Monday night pistol club that has an NRA instructor. Wish they had longer than 50 feet, but for pistol that is fine. If you are going to go often, buying a yearly membership is most cost effective. Staff is also helpful with gun questions or letting you borrow an allen wrench or tool. Clean restroom. Easy parking. Good environment to bring kids for first time out. Able to shoot .22 rifles also; They have a good selection of .22 rifles, and all other caliber pistols. Also have guns on consignment. read more

Just wanted to let all my retired friends know that they no longer give a law enforcement discount to retired law-enforcement officers. So make sure you pick up your ammo and targets at Walmart before you go, or go to another range that still gives the discount. read more

This place is the most overpriced gun store and range I've ever had the displeasure of paying for. 25 dollars for a box of federal 9mm ammo. Also, their firearms are severely overpriced too. I bought a 9mm S&W Shield from Sportsmans Outpost for 380. The price tag here said 475. The range is pretty clean and it's decent. However, when the owner was giving me the run down of what to do, he was rude and talked to me like I was some sort of degenerate. Telling me that if I shot too fast he'd throw me outta here faster. I understand safety is paramount, but there are ways to go about telling your paying customers who have pistol permits and demonstrate proper shooting about what is expected of them. Go to Wolf's instead. They're much more friendly, prices are lower, and the range is bigger. If you want to shoot rifles, go to Tactical Arms in Torrington. Much cheaper for ammo too. I've also never had to wait for a lane at wolfs or tactical. Employees there are happy to have you, whereas shooters just seems like they want you in and out ASAP. I will never return. read more

Shooters is a good range to practice especially during the week when it's not as busy. Friendly staff and a good selection of new and used firearms. They do NOT allow rapid fire and rules state 3 seconds between shots. It could use better ventilation and booths could be better constructed so that the shell casings from the next lane aren't bouncing off your head. If you're a weekly shooter the yearly membership is the best way to go. read more

This place is a joke. There prices are through the roof. There staff knows little to nothing about the guns they sell. I have tried to buy multiple guns from them and they some how always are not able to get it (I usually find the gun I'm looking for at another shop that very day for a lot cheaper). My biggest gripe with them is there ammo, they price gouge so terribly bad it's unreal. The only people I would recommend this place to is MAYBE a beginner. My family started going to Shooters the past few weeks. It is well maintained, and the staff are courteous and knowledgeable. They know what they are doing and talking about, but don't make anyone feel stupid or unwelcome. That is something other ranges struggle with. If someone doesn't know, is misinformed or asks a question they do not embarrass that person, they give them the proper instruction and information, very professional and accommodating. Their prices are reasonable and they have a good selection of all the items one would need for shooting. We wont be going to any other range now that we have been to Shooters. The ventilation is good, no smoke and is fairly cool inside. As much as a range can be clean I feel they do a good job in this area also. They monitor the range and don't tolerate any fooling around, the way it should be. They take safety very serious, which I appreciate as my family is there with me read more
