I came from California and this vintage shop was at the top of my list. The owner was in the store as I approached, the shop Instagram said open as well as google. As I approached (with a mask of course) I asked if they were open and the owner said really rudely and uninterested "ugh kind of, I have a lot of stuff to do right now, I'm busy if you really want to you come back in 2 min. you can I guess." I felt really unwelcome and awkward about it, I came back a few min later and didn't know what to do because of our prior interaction and the door being closed- I wasn't going to knock on the door to get turned away rudely again. Change your store hours on the internet if you are truly not open or put a post out on your Instagram saying you aren't going to be open that day because of store housekeeping reasons. Also BE NICE. Kindness goes a long way right now and could make/break a persons day because of everything going on. I know it is hard for every small business owner right now during Covid. Things are stressful for everyone surrounding the pandemic, protests and election. I have been trying to hit every small business during this time to try to support, but this is not the way you should be treating your customers especially right now! You probably don't care, but you did loose a sale today, I was ready to drop money at your store. I will never recommend your store to others in or visiting Portland.

I have never seen anything like it and genuinely, if your are like me and like to keep a pear, a few apples and an orange on hand but want them to last - this is not only amazing looking but perfect!! I did purchase a few smaller items. The first was a felt coaster which is so perfect! They have an array of different colors - my choice was a gorgeous burgundy and I loved being able to buy just one. I have coasters for guests which is a whole set but for my daily iced drink covered in condensation, this is so perfect. The card says they are made in Germany by a company called Parkhaus and how to care for and clean the coaster. The other item was a greeting card which I intend to frame. Vancouver Washington artist Claudia Moore makes the cards with foraged leaves and seeds. This is a great spot if you are looking for something unique as a gift or for your home. They also have some very nice cleaning solutions and bath products. There is a well thought, small selection of purses and bags.

So happy I happened upon this shop today as I was heading down NE Killingsworth after an…read moreappointment (and a pit stop at Tehuana Oaxaca food truck who have the Best. Tacos. Ever.) As I was driving by, a blue and white robe in the shop caught my eye. Seriously. I could tell it was made out of Turkish cotton and I have been trying to find Turkish Cotton bath towels. I pulled a U-y, parked, and ventured it. There is a bit of everything in the shop, vintage and modern, just as their card states. Beautiful, affordable jewelry by Amaree & Reece (love their designs) and other local jewelry artists. There is a vast selection of sun glasses in fun mod and vintage shapes. They had Mia Clogs, which I used to wear in the 70s! I didn't even know Mia was still in existence. In the back of the shop, there are vintage dresses, hats, purses, shirts and more. The robe that caught my eye was indeed Turkish Cotton. In fact, the shop is known for their collection of Turkish Cotton and has striped towels in every color with white: navy, aqua, pink, fuschia, purple, yellow, mint green, peach, gray, tan, multi-bright, multi-blue and more. I love Turkish Cotton because it's super absorbent, washes well, dries quickly and takes up no space. Since I am in the pool 1-2 times daily (lap swimming and water aerobics) a towel that adds no weight to my gym bad, gets me dry, and dries quickly is a win-win-win! Marcy, the owner, always offers one or two colors at a special price to encourage people to try them. Today the basket had the multi-bright and the multi-blue. Since blue is my favorite color, there was no hesitation! I bought a bath sheet and a matching hand towel that I will use for my hair. Can't wait to tell my swimming buddies because they will all want them! Marcy, the owner, was very friendly and helpful while allowing me to browse uninterrupted and just enjoy trying on hats and sunglasses along the way. I'm definitely adding Shipwreck to the list of shops that I visit just to see what's new. Until the next time, I will enjoy the heck out of my new towels.

We bought a couple stickers here to commerorate our time visiting Portland. My girlfriend also bought a children's forest book for her nephew who enjoyed it.
