Shoprite is a good store with good prices.not this one in Ronkonkamo, never more then 3 checkouts open ,try to push all to self checkout.the store is also poorly stocked especially sale items, then when sale is over those items are fully stocked,sometimes never have the item. Shoprite in haupague is a great store always stocked ,plenty of ch r ckouts,seems to me the Ronkonkamo store is poorly managed. read more

I'm compelled to write another review after meeting a wonderful young lady in the bakery dept. Her name is ToniMarie and she is probably the nicest employee I have met to date. ToniMarie patiently helped me pick out a cake and decorate it. Her hand writing was impeccable! Then she went through a few boxes to find baby boy trinkets! I thanked her for all her help and patience and she replied of course, your welcome, anytime. Such a delight to deal with. A true asset to Shoprite! Started shopping at ShopRite years ago because I loved the ShopRite in selden. Because this one was owned by the same family, I thought I would love this store too. I was so wrong. Workers never know where anything is if you ask, lines are always so long because there's 3 cashiers and shelves are always half stocked or empty. 3.5 Stars for the Lake Ronkonkoma ShopRite.     When the Lake Ronkonkoma ShopRite opened on Friday, August 8, 2018; it brought life to a former Waldbaum's and dying shopping center. The Waldbaum's that used to be here used to be one of the busiest locations in the chain from the time it opened around 1988 until Shop & Stop opened up in the early 1990s. It was a Waldbaum's that I had so many  memories at. Being walking distance to the house I was a regular shopper and worked there for a few years when I went to college. Is it any wonder that I would shop in the relatively new ShopRite a couple of times when I visited my dad a couple of weeks ago.     ShopRite is a cooperative and not a chain. This location is owned by the Gallagher family whom also owns the Selden and Port Jefferson Station ShopRites. Unlike the Stop & Shop a few hundred feet west off Portion Road, it is in a shopping center instead of by itself. This is advantageous because you can stop in ShopRite then walk to businesses such as Strathmore Bagels, Jersey Mike's, Chipotle, a Chinese Takeout, Dollar Tree, Auto Zone, Albert's Pizza, and Boston Market. If you go to Stop & Shop most likely you will have to return to your vehicle to patronize another business. One of the nicest things about this Shoprite was that it brought back to life a shopping center that was dying between Waldbaum's closing in 2012 and Shoprite's opening in 2018. The drawback is that the parking lot can be challenging. Back when Waldbaum's was in its prime, it was chaotic finding a parking space during weekends and Holidays. Just recently the shopping center took out a chunk of parking spaces to build a Jersey Mike's, Chipotle, and space for rent. In addition to the parking space challenges, the parking lot is on an incline which gives the potential for a shopping cart and automobile collision. I recommend parking further away by Auto Zone and Dollar Tree. The good thing about the parking lot is that the two entrances onto Portion Road have a traffic light.    At 45,000 square feet this is a nicely decorated supermarket. There is a cozy neighborhood vibe to the supermarket. Unlike some supermarkets it doesn't have the overwhelming warehouse vibe where you feel like you are going to get bumped by a shopping cart. This has a more cozy feel than the Stop & Shop up the street. Perhaps because it is family owned. I like the color panel, lighting, flooring and the picturesque signing over the made from scratch bakery, the full service meat department, produce, and throughout the store. From the outside this 45,000 square foot ShopRite appears a lot larger than it really is. The reason is that the backroom is really to the left side of the building instead of at the back. That is why there are trailers sticking out of the left side of the building. The downside to this more cozy feel is that they have less of a selection than Stop & Shop. Another thing is that this building was built in the late 1980s when the majority of Long Island supermarkets did not provide public restrooms. That includes the Waldbaum's that used to be here. Unless the new owners paid major dollars to retrofit new restrooms, there are only private restrooms upstairs from the stockroom.    Both times that I went here, I enjoyed walking around plus seeing brands that are hard to find in Las Vegas like Wise Potato Chips and Polly O. They also sell rainbow cookies in their made from scratch bakery. In this shopping environment that is conducive to walking around, I saw that you needed a ShopRite Plus Card to take advantage of the great deals.    At the checkout there was both self checkout and full service. Unfortunately they leave the last impressions of a supermarket. From my experience the lady who was the cashier the first time and the man who ran self checkout can use a course in customer service. The woman was borderline rude when I answered that I do not have a ShopRite Plus Card because I live out of state. And both times they did not thank me for shopping at ShopRite. Unfortunately Waldbaum's learned the hard way that you need to provide great customer service.  I give this ShopRite 3.5 stars. In what was once a dying shopping center, it brought a modern supermarket to the community. It also put the brakes on a Stop & Shop monopoly. read more

Been shopping here for years. It's the best super market in the area. The cashiers are usually friendly and the store is clean. Some other stores in the neighborhood look like a bomb went off. Be careful tho, the parking lot is a nightmare. read more

Pros: New, clean, convenient location and cheap prices Cons: Weird layout, parking lot is a cluster mess, and some rude staff. The store layout is a bit confusing, but everything is clean and organized. Unfortunately I refuse to go back. I waited for 10 minutes for the deli, and mind you there was NOONE ahead of me or waiting. I finally asked if someone can help me after being patient and the woman behind the counter said "Be with you in a sec" walks around the counter and starts stickering deli meat that is already out.... When I said never mind after waiting another 2 minutes, a tall African-american gentleman yells "Nervermind she don't want your help" When I said "Excuse me, what is your name" He refused to inform me. Very unprofessional and embarrassing. Will travel further and go to Jansen Shoprite of Hauppauge. NICE AND RESPECTFUL staff who prioritize shoppers. Just a heads up. read more

Lack of customer service! The produce always looks old and rotten they bakery lacks items all the time. The meats are way too expensive !

Waited for a very long time for this location to open and now that it finally is I must say I'm quite disappointed. For what looks from the outside like a huge store inside the space just doesn't seem to be properly utilized, making it feel and appear much smaller than it actually is. Maybe I'm just used to the Selden location (which I love) but to me the layout in the Lake Ronkonkoma store is just confusing and the lighting of it is just off putting. read more

It's great they're finally open but the meat department is very deceiving. Items that are on sale do not have the pricing on the packages, you have to do the math in order to know what you're paying, and the signs of sale pricing are obscure and hard to find. After a long day at work it would be nice to be able to easily figure out what your paying. Then, when I went to pay, it calculated it wrong and customer service had to refund me $. Not sure what there game plan is but the current setup is a one star experience. read more

This store is not very good. The dairy department is always out of several different items. Also the brown paper they wrap there cold cuts in is gross. The paper gets soggy and falls apart. The cashiers and wagon boys are always pleasant. read more

This place is great. Very clean, new and the employees seem genuinely nice. I am only taking off 2 stars because the layout of this place is SO confusing. And the aisles are VERY tiny. I had to search once for literally 20 minutes or so because an employee and myself could not find any Goya items. If the aisles were wider (seriously, on a weekend when there's a million people you'll see what I mean) I would consider frequently coming back. But on a crowded weekend you would not want to come here if you're a person who hates crowds. read more

The store was clean and well stocked. All of the sale items I looked for were available. The prices are reasonable, the employees were friendly and courteous. I could see myself shopping here in a regular basis. Hopefully there store remains clean and fully stocked. read more

I just had the most incredible experience at the shoprite in Ronkonkoma!! During the week I had purchased a package of English Muffins (which I soon saw green mold on them when I got them home). So, I waited until today to return them, I didn't think it would be a problem because the last time I had to return something was at Stop N Shop and they took it back without a question. When I purchased them the expiration date was not expired. I was grilled by a snotty manager as if I just committed perjury at a senate hearing. Then I asked to see the store manager, OMG !!! this guy was worse!! Apparently customer satisfaction is not shoprite's top priority. I couln't believe this jackass was arguing with me over a $2 package of English Muffins!!!!!! with mold on them no less!!! right in the middle of the front register area!!!!! I don't understand the good reviews. Being Stop and Shop customers for years we thought we would try the new Shop Rite in Ronkonkoma. BAD idea. Parking is like going to the mall at Christmas, the people walking in the parking lot was like Dawn of the Dead zombies. The store layout makes little sense as common items generally used together are 4 aisles apart from one another. Sale items are hard to find and actually get the sale price at the register for some odd reason. After drilling down in their website to get the right store and circular for that store you'd think your in. Nope, no such luck. Getting coupons on the app for my phone was not worth the time as you don't know if it was applied after paying and looking at your register tape. By then it's screw it, let me out of here. Also ended up spending about $35 more than usual for pretty much the same weekly shopping at Stop and Shop. read more
