I like this Shop Rite. The other options is the immediate area are Weiss and the Acme in Sussex. Weiss is just... weird. Acme somehow manages to stay in business... so Shop Rite REALLY doesn't have too much to worry about. All that being said, they have an awesome produce department. Fresh and constantly being rotated and gone over. The butcher and seafood departments are also really nice. Bakery is pretty good though nothing stellar. As a few other reviewers have mentioned, the store IS setup oddly as a result if expanding every few years. Want onions or potatoes? You won't find them in the produce aisle. The staff is almost always friendly even when the store is jam-packed. The cart kids are ask on-spot. -- Updated review: they've added 4 or 5 self-checkout lanes and the other full-serve lanes are usually half closed. Truly annoying. Advertising a price and when at the register it ring out different, clerk came, went to verify the claim and took more than 10 minutes to adjust the price, manager, cocky staff, very rude, no even an apologies for their mistake or for the time customers wait for them to correct the issue, It's very sad they don't realize that they have their jobs because the customers. read more

The pharmacy at this store sucks; I've had more than one bad experience. Yesterday I called in a prescription refill mid-morning, automated system tells me it'll be ready for pickup by 2:30 PM, still not ready at 3:30 PM. Was told I had to wait 15 min. I complained to store manager, he said he couldn't rush the pharmacy (i.e., not his problem). Last time my refill cost three times the price of my previous refill. I asked why, pharmacist had no answer. I only realized when I looked at the bottle to order a new refill that I had been cheated: My doc increased my script to 90 tablets, THAT was the reason for the higher price. But I received only 30! Not worth going back to confront them, but I'll never use this pharmacy again! read more

"BEWARE" Make sure you are not cheated at the cash register. I had a coupon for Hagen Daz novelty ice cream. The little sign was right there, Marge said SHE HAD TO CHECK. She never went back to look just did whatever by the register. After 10 minutes my other ice cream was melting. I tool my ice cream bars out of my cart and said take them back. The customers do not respect the lines, its like most people that go there are animals, seriously. Shop Rite, right or wrong? It's usually a gamble. The remodel was a BIG improvement, and more recently the customer service has gotten better as well. The lines are not as long as I know they can be and the clerks are much nicer. Just check your food thoroughly before buying, especially the produce and meats. I bought a bag of apples and oranges and all but 1 orange was molded. Who has time to downs gas and minutes to return, especially since they never should have been put out for sale. Smh. I have been to many ShopRites and this store does not have the feel of a ShopRite. When you walk in, there is an area to the right that seems like it was a different store that was tacked onto the supermarket, it is just a weird assortment of offerings...could not make heads or tails of it. I came looking for a specific brand and type of tea bags. The supply of twenty varieties was nice but they did not have the Vanilla Hazelnut that I was seeking. They did have good pricing on Celestial Seasonings brand and I got two boxes. This is the first location I have ever been to with self check out lines. Did my weekly shopping. Picked up 2 chicken breast and 2 chicken thighs and corned beef. After $230.00 was told there was a limit of only 2 meat products. This was my weekly shopping trip....I was not hoarding , just feeding family and seniors I cook food for and send food out to. We are suffering because of others that hoarding meats. The surrounding area and majority of its clientele always make shopping here a horrible experience which is a shame because the people who work here are really nice. One of the worst grocery stores I ever been to. The food is not fresh, especially the cakes and desserts, bakery items, a lot of the items on the shelves are expired. The supermarket is near a lot of stores and buses. On the other hand, most of their employees are unprofessional. A lot of the employees have a bad attitude. I had visited Shoprite in Franklin,NJ many times.I was passing by the Bakery Dept and had peeked in.I had thought that the Bakery Dept was very dirty,cluttered,disorganized.The floors looked filthy,like they have not been swept,mopped,and waxed in a long time.The bakery racks looked full of burnt residue.I had asked a bakery clerk about a certain kind of bread and she seemed to be NOT friendly,helpful at all.I think a bit of an attitude as well.She referred me to the bakery manager,who I thought was very unfriendly,not helpful.I felt as I was an inconvenience to them.I also had noticed that their white jackets were filthy and dirty like they never get changed or washed.I am NOT too sure if I will purchase anything in the bakery.Maybe this issue should be addressed to the store manager or maybe even the Board of Health. read more

I love this shoprite . They have everything I always need for my family . There pharmacy department is the best . Friendly , professional, respectful and always upfront on all cost that your prescriptions may bring you . Customer service is always top notch . Prices are fair . Love that they have digital coupons . The deli department is awesome clean area always . Good selection of salads and cold cuts . Bakery department is ok . Love all there products , but the bakery employees need to be trained a little better . They can be a bit nasty at times when placing an order especially if it's short notice . I still recommend this store . Might not be the biggest store in nj but I wouldn't trade this place no matter what . Close by , plenty of parking friendly staff , always helpful . I can't understand all the bad reviews about this particular store because I've only had very good experiecnces each time I've been there. The staff have always been very professional and helpful with me, taking the time to assist me whenever Im looking for a certain item. And what time do I go? Late at night around 11:00pm right after I leave the gym! The parking lot is nice and empty and well lit, no problems at all. I found the employees there more helpful than any other supermarket I've been too, and i've been to a lot!! If you don't like the crowds then go at night and stop complaining because any supermarket you go to in the middle of the afternoon is going to be pure chaos with crowds. read more
