I must admit I'm a foodie and love all kinds of specialty markets. I was pleasantly surprised by Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace in Morris Plains. This place has everything Italian your heart desires and more. They have an amazing long display of homemade prepared foods. It's the biggest one I've ever seen for an Italian market in NJ. You can find chicken cutlets, broccoli rabe, arancini, carbonara cappellini, potato and cheese croquettes, cakes, fruiti de mare salad, several types of seafood salads, crab cakes, eggplant parm, sicilian eggplant, jumbo fried shrimp, specialty burgers and sliders, several types of prepared salmon, grilled and roasted vegetables, an antipasto bar, an entire cheese department with imported and homemade cheeses, such as homemade mozzarella, bocconcini,basket cheese aka"formaggio da pasta filata" ( yes and not just at the holidays) and homemade ricotta. They have tons and tons of all different types of olives. Uncle Giuseppe's sells Italian and imported specialty products. They have a fresh meat department, a fresh fish department, a full deli, fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh pastas, a variety of homemade ravioli's, a coffee bar with assorted expresso beans, and other flavored beans you can grind. A variety of Imported canned tomatoes and products from Italy. Homemade peanut butter you grind on the spot fresh with no additives. They have a nice selection of imported olive oils and vinegars. There's a hot takeout bar with meatballs, different kinds of pasta, chicken and vegetables. They even have a section where they make a variety of homemade pizzas. For dessert they have a bakery department that sells all types of Italian cookies, cakes, breads, pastries you name it they have it. As I walked around there were employees giving out samples of a variety of foods. Everything I tried was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. This store has everything neatly displayed and very clean. I spent 2 hours here. I bought their brand of homemade imported extra virgin olive oil, antipasto, cheese & spinach ravioli's,bread, dried farro, vegetables, and cheeses. This store is a bit pricey but the quality and variety are simply amazing! There is a large free parking lot. You can grab a shopping cart, and near the entrance there are a few handicapped spots. Uncle G's is going downhill really fast. I recently got a package of ground beef and it was gray on the inside. Fresh parm cheese and bread always gets moldy within 1-2 days. The premade dinner entrees are also low quality. The chicken franchise was literally just their chicken cutlets doused in gravy. All of this is especially disappointing when considering how high the prices are. It makes more sense to order a quality takeout Italian meal from a restaurant. And all of their regular grocery items (cereal, canned goods, etc) are twice the price of the regular grocery store. I keep going back to try new things, but this time I'm putting my foot down and not coming back. In my opinion (and I've tried MANY things from here) it's only worth a visit for the fresh stuffed pastas and sauces. Oh, and their cheesy garlic bread is dope. The fresh mozzarella is always that... fresh! Their lamb chops at the meat counter are so tender and always fresh.. yes pricey , but with that comes quality! The butchers are always pleasant and willing to help and get you exactly what you want! Back pedaling to Thanksgiving their fresh turkey ( 15.5 lbs) was so moist and delicious and came with the pop up timer. No guessing or using the metal thermometer that can sometimes be inaccurate. The fresh pasta/ ravioli melts in your mouth. Should I move on to their bakery department? Just go you will NOT be disappointed. Just make sure you bring your appetite as well as wallet! And when a mom called and spoke with Maureen in catering to ask about even a discount she was rude. My daughter likes a certain cracker from here, so that's the only reason I make the trip. Wednesday afternoon, stopped in while in the area. Lots of workers on the floor, Only two registers open. Lines were SLOW and long. I literally had two bags of crackers and had to wait nearly 10 minutes to check out. Cashiers tried to move it along quickly but it seemed that every customer had an issue. They are an Italian supermarket that also has amazing foods made in store! The homemade mozzarella is always delicious, available in different flavors and add-ins. The bakery always has something new and is great when you need to grab something to bring somewhere. The hot foods area never disappoints and in the sweets area do not miss getting a brownie cake pop! They are absolutely amazing! Wow, first time here, ordered the Christmas Eve and seafood packages. It was well orchestrated for all the people picking up. The store is lovely, clean and well stocked. Def adequate parking and the staff were extremely cordial and knowledgeable about the products. The different spaces bakery, deli , were all mouth watering displays. I don't get the hype. If you are going to deli and specialty foods than it's great. The bakery is terrible, I've given it a few chances but nothing is good there. One cake I got was still frozen in the middle. There is no way they bake everything there, this location is half the size of their other stores so I'm now positive they ship stuff in frozen from other locations. The dates on stuff like dairy and milk aren't great I'm sure that is because they sit because people aren't going in there to buy stuff like a regular grocery store. I would recommend them for the deli and hot food area but that's it. It's not a real grocery store. read more

This place does an amazing business - especially at lunchtime on Fridays when they have their 2 for $22 pizza special. I finally succumbed to the temptation and tried the pizza. They're huge. They're busy making pizza non-stop during the specials. Pizza was decent. Not better or worse than any other mediocre pizza place in the area. I would give them 0 if I could. I ordered a pickup order on Dec 20 for 3 items. It was to be picked up 12/23 between 2 - 2:30. There were 2 prepared dishes and 1 uncooked chicken package. When I arrived at the store at 2pm, the Customer Service person told me it wasn't ready yet. She then looked at the order and said both prepared dishes were not available. Mind you, these were things UG always has in stock, chicken pot pie and chicken marsala. Not exotic things. She then said I was early. I said the pickup was 2-2:30, she said well it's only 2 now. She was very rude and said they were very busy and you know it's a holiday. Then she asked me if I'd like to cancel the order. Basically, she didn't want to be bothered. Today, Friday, October 10, 1:05 pm. I saw the fresh, plain pizza come out of the oven, so I called and ordered two slices to go. While I was paying for my pizza, the person who had taken two old pizzas and put them in the oven tried to give them to me. So I told the service person, " Sir, I am not taking the old pizzas; I was ordering the fresh pizzas you put out before." The service person then switched the fresh pizzas and gave them to me. The moment you walk into this place you get a sense of family. Everyone is friendly to the point it seems fake. Lol. After walking around feeling overwhelmed and not knowing what to buy, I got to the hot station. It all looks so good. I finally caved in and got a meatball and sausage slice. WOW. It was really good. I'm a big fan of this market since I no longer shop at Corrado's (not enough Italian items) and Fairway went bankrupt. They have a huge deli/salumi/cheese/prepared food section with tons of imported items and plenty of tasty prepared food. the olive section is also pretty good. Great made-on-premises pasta selection, both filled and flat. Butcher shop has actual butchers who will cut meat for you which is rare in this day of everything coming prepacked. Excellent seafood department with plenty of fish and shellfish to choose from bakery and sandwich/pizza section are also great as they prepare everything in house. The standout is all the imported items I used to be able to get elsewhere but can now get while doing my other shopping. Worth the drive to go here. read more

The enormous deli counter takes up the entire back wall of the store, with prepared foods on the front end across from this and cheese facing. they have a huge selection of - look at part of the massive cheese selection. the right side wall of the store, which has meat and seafood farther down Charcuterie (Sauces) store-made specialty pasta sauces store-made specialty pastas! olive and pickle department mozzarella room, the pasta room is enclosed with windows so you can see pasta being made in the back. this place is italian heaven with groceries lol. we bought some cheese, garlic knots, some chocolate pretzels and a few other things. chocolate lady is super nice. they have so much to choose from and we wanna go back. my mom loved the lawn ornaments. she bought a bee one. my only complaint is that my small dog was in the cart and the manager didn't want him in the cart. we weren't going to walk him in the store so i just went back to the car with him. a little unnecessary. no one seemed to complain until we were almost done. people put their gross kids in the cart. my dog should be aloud when he's 12 pounds. read more

Uncle G's is a pretty solid Italian market off of route 10. It's very clean inside and they have a wide assortment of a lot of different foods. The bakery section is very stocked as well as the prepared foods. I haven't ate a ton of stuff and I do go to the deli sometimes which can be a long line on a weekend. They even have a person singing inside, which is pretty cool on weekends. Everyone is pretty friendly here. Sometimes I want to get too many things but overall it's a good place to shop. How exciting! Not meant for everyday shopping necessarily, but great for fun trips every once in awhile. If you're making a charcuterie board, this is your spot. Or if you're having a party/event, you can get so many things here. They have all of the Italian items that come to mind: cookies, breads, cheeses, pastas, olive oils, etc. Then they have other fun stuff: pizza dough, drinks/sodas I've never seen before, coffee beans, allllllll kinds of fruits and vegetables, dips, soups, desserts, and so much more. I enjoy the decorations (especially the ceiling decorations). Be warned- it is a little pricy...but that's kind of expected with these types of speciality stores. Go for the speciality items. Ya know, don't buy Lays chips when you can get them cheaper at Shop Rite. Get the fancy coffee beans and olive oil. To eat tonight, I tried their penne vodka and Caesar salad. I've been waiting for this place to open! While there are quite a few stores on Long Island, this is only the 2nd Uncle Giuseppe's in NJ. Fortunately for me, it's not far from home! The store had a secret opening the day before the official Grand Opening so I had a chance to sneak in before the big crowd. There's really so much to take in. My first stop, of course, was the bakery. Picked up slices of Limoncello and Tiramisu cakes for a late night snack. The Prepared Foods section was huge. You can choose to order from someone behind the counter or pick up meals already packaged. I went with the chicken Marsala and eggplant rollatini with spinach. Both were excellent with a loaf of fresh Italian bread! Also picked up a Caprese salad as an appetizer. There's so many other great sections...an espresso bar, amazing cheese section with freshly made mozzarella, sushi, candy....I could go on and on! This store is located in the Kohl's shopping center on the corner of Rt 10 and 206. Absolutely give this store a try and see for yourself! read more

This new-to-me Italian food mecca is a stunning shopping experience. The classy decor, artfully display goodies, helpful and friendly staff and the wide selection across products had me strolling the aisles for quite a while before I even grabbed a shopping cart. The produce department is chock full of beautifully displayed veggies and fruit. The meat department is a perfect stop for your inner carnivore. And cheese? Yes, they have varieties from every cheese producing corner of the globe. They have a steam table counter with very tempting prepared foods. There is even a cafe upstairs so you can have a sit-down lunch date here with co-workers and friends or, like we did, get a selection for our at-home lunch. Also, by the deli counter (with their cool electronic "you're next" number dispenser) they have pre-packaged dinners (or lunches) clearly described and priced - ready to go. I walked every aisle and examined prices for the products I was familiar with. Hmmm. The prices were a bit higher for quite a few picks. For example, My wife's favorite Stonewall Kitchen jelly was $1.50 higher than Wegman's price (but 50 cents lower than Whole Foods). Tropicana OJ was higher too as was a couple of cold cereal brands I like so I recommend shopping with a sharp eye. We brought home a couple of their own brand pastas sauces - recommended by employees who said, "Oh! they are delicious!!". We grabbed a huge loaf of braided Italian bread too and - spoiler alert - it's the reason alone I will be a regular customer!! I took home their steam table displayed chicken Marsala and my wife had their eggplant Parm - we both made yummy noises as we wolfed our dishes down when we got home. Our dessert was their apple pie - my wife loves apple pie and she gave it two thumbs up. OK, here we go - a fantasy land for food lovers has taken root in Morris County. Wide selection in a beautiful store that is as appealing to the eyes as the appetite. Prices tend to seem a bit high on the few items I checked but on the pre-made, deli, cheese and meat selections, quality met the prices and made them a good value for me. I'll be back for the delightful bread and the well-prepared steam table temptations - maybe - this is my new take-out place?
