We did a tour of wineries in Ensenada Mexico. This was our first excursion with Shore Excursions Group, and it was excellent. There were multiple reminders to access and print our ticket and excursion information. A map and photo were provided to make it easy to find out meeting location. Our tour guide was excellent; giving us information on the area and the wineries. Our guide shared his experiences and gave us a few hints on souvenirs. We arrived back to the docks with almost two hours before gangplank went up, and had the option to shop in an area walking distance to the docks or be dropped off by the ship. read more

I am highly disappointed with this company. We purchased See Natural Stavanger by Sea in January. The description at that time was of a type of rib boat, not a large multi-deck vessel. When we got to the port and followed the directions to the meet-up place, there was nobody at the sign. Second, we had to search for and finally find a representative of the company to ask where their rib boat excursion was. They said this is the type of boat; it is not a rib boat. They looked for our names on their list because the ticket that we were given was unfamiliar. Our names were not on their paid participant list. The three of us broke apart to talk to every company represented. No one had our names on their list as participants. I called the emergency number on the ticket. The representative said that the excursion we were looking for was not offered in Stavanger, but it was offered somewhere else. At this point, I have a very disappointed child. We decided to purchase tickets for the type of excursion that we thought we booked, which was nearly $500. Later, after I called the other numbers on the ticket and I called the excursion insurance number, you wonder what came of that? Nothing! A lousy one-line statement said 40 other people made it to the excursion and we would not be refunded. How were we going to get on a boat that didn't even have our names as being paid participants? I was almost in tears. My daughter was almost in tears. My husband was not happy. We had a great time with the company that we ended up spending our day with. I will never endorse or suggest anybody buy an excursion through Shore Excursions Group, though. You do not stand by your word, and no one on that dock in that port even recognized the ticket. You made the day, and any time I think about Stavanger, it is filled with dissatisfaction and frustration. The hundreds of dollars not refunded eat at me. We booked two excursions with Shore Excursions Group on our MSC Seascapes cruise out of Galveston. In Roatan, we did the Island Tour and Glass Bottom boat. It ended up being a private tour for the 3 of us. Our driver, Sid, gave us a great tour of the whole island throwing in his experiences as a native islander. The glass bottom boat was a semi-submersible and we were in a group of about 20 for that tour. In Cozumel, we did the Chankanab Snorkel and lunch. We did need to get our own transportation to and from the park and there is a reef protection fee paid at the park. We had a private snorkeling tour for the three of us, snorkel gear we could use for our full time at the park, a delicious fajita lunch with two drinks and locker rental. The snorkeling was fantastic. Felipe was our guide. Luis brought us our drinks and fajitas. I really like SEG tours as they often are less expensive than the cruise lines and are a smaller group size. read more

We took 2 excursions in July 2026 with my mother, who is on a walker. I let Shore Excursions Group know when I called about each tour, in advance, and they confirmed that these tours were both advertised as mild and appropriate for her. While my husband and I enjoyed both tours, there was extensive walking and was not appropriate for persons using a walker. We were very disappointed that she had to get off the bus when there was a very long walk ahead. These walks were very hard on her physically. Both tour guides said they work for a third party and they don't have any direct contact with Shore Excursions Group. We are holding Shore Excursions Group responsible for incorrect information, both in print and by phone. read more

NASSAU TOUR One minor drawback of this excursion company may be its fight for tour bus location positioning. This was very evident in our Dominican Republic tour but more about that later. Just look for the representative holding the Shore Excursion sign. And you may be waiting for your tour for sometime. You'll also be following that sign holder and walking considerably further than the cruise line's sponsored tour buses. But the bus is comfortable and your guide and driver is very knowledgeable. Nassau, being the Capitol of the Bahamas and a huge percentage of the nation's population at over a quarter of a million people, representing around 70% of its total. So our tour included all the major government buildings of importance. We also passed by the huge new American embassy which has yet to be occupied. We passed by Fort Charles and made our first stop at the landmark Queen's Staircase aka the 66 Steps. Actually only 65 steps remain now due to the top step being accidentally covered over during some past maintenance. Nassau's past was also a popular center for numerous pirates, most notably the notorious Black Beard. It was interesting to learn that some of them often experienced guilt and regularly visited a nearby church to make confessions. A bit of movie trivia, a number of James Bond films had important scenes filmed in Nassau. We drove by a number of those and other movie locations. We also drove past the Providence Hospital, probably best remembered as the location where Anna Nicole Smith gave birth to her daughter Dannielyn in 2006. And tragically, after being visited there in her hospital room by her 20 year old son Daniel, he was found deceased only 3 days later. Our last stop was at the Atlantis Resort. Huge! We walked by all the high end shops and through its huge casino. And then it was time to head back to our bus and ride back to reboard the Carnival Celebration. I'd say it was an excursion well worth the price. The Dominican Republic Tour For our Dominican Republic stop, we sailed into Carnival Cruise's private port of Amber Cove. This is where booking through a private excursion company could be a bit of an inconvenience. Being that Carnival has exclusive ownership of this port, only their tour buses are allowed on the property. Have your walking shoes ready, because it's quite a trek from the ship through parking lots, down a narrow path and outside the property gates onto a side street. And so we approached the vehicles parked outside but had to enquire about Shore Excursion Group's bus, seeing no sign being held up. Finally, our guide found us. We were then led to, not a bus but a smaller passenger van. And on entering with a driver behind the wheel, we were somewhat startled that we would be their only passengers. But the guide, as well as the driver, produced all the right tour reservation info and reassured us that they regularly have only single couples, as well as other sized smaller groups. They were booked through the Excursion Group and driving for their company Country World. Our feelings of caution were appeased and we experienced a very friendly private and knowledgeable tour of Puerto Plata, a city of around 100,000 people and the surrounding countryside. Making a last stop at the tour's center, we were given an included traditional Dominican buffet lunch. We found the staff here very warm and friendly. Another elderly couple stopped by to rest from their tour and a younger couple dropped in the lounge area, resting up from their horseback riding adventure. They looked quite tired, one reason why we chose not to ride while getting off at a cruise port. I overheard the wife stating "I thought we'd never get out of that jungle." And as we enjoyed our lunch, they were soon preparing to continue their riding. After we finished our meal and headed back outdoors, we observed them galloping off again to finish their ride behind their guide. To finish our excursion, the center was also a Bird Sanctuary and Botanical Gardens. So along with our guide of the last few hours, his name totally escapes memory now, we were then joined by Jimmy. Jimmy led us through the grounds, describing all the garden species. Even letting us smell the leaves of numerous herbs and trees. Ahhhh! He then introduced us to the various bird species there; cockatoos, macaws, turkeys, flamingos, etc. And even a pair of African tortoises, one of which I got to hold. But my wife refused the offer lol! She wasn't shy about the parrots though, who fondly took to her. Very gentle birds and Jimmy works so well with them. It was then time to make our way back to Amber Cove and that long walk back to our ship. The older couple rode back with us. We appreciated the day's adventure and the kind guides and dependable driver. And felt a bit privileged that it was all private and personable. And reasonably priced through Shore Excursions Group, which we only recently learned of. read more

On my recent 2 week cruise to the Caribbean I booked 7out of 10 excursions with this group. The other 3 excursions I booked the the cruise line. Shore Excursions Group was actually a better experience all around. The excursions were smaller and more intimate giving us the opportunity to get to know fellow cruisers better. The people who took us on our excursions were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We recently had the opportunity to go on a Mediterranean cruise with NCL and took part in 4 excursions through Shore Excursions Group. We also took 3 NCL excursions. We were pleased to find that the tours offered by Shore Ex were equal to, if not better than, those provided by the cruise line. One of the best advantages was the cost savings we experienced by choosing Shore Ex. Many of our friends have expressed some apprehensions about booking excursions outside of those organized by the ship, mainly due to concerns about potentially missing the ship's departure. However, we felt confident as Shore Ex has a guarantee of returning before the scheduled departure time. While I understand the reasoning behind preferring ship-organized excursions, I can't help but think that the fear of missing the ship can sometimes be a scare tactic to encourage guests to book through the cruise line. We were on a 14 day New Zealand cruise and booked 2 excursions through Shore Excursions Group because the price was better than the cruise ship. We were not disappointed as the meeting point instructions were clear (except it would have been beneficial to know the Tour operator name in advance because I was looking for a Shore Excursions welcome sign) and tours were as expected. The Tauranga Sightseeing tour was well organized and our Tour guide, Terry, was informative both on and off the bus. We were a group of (7) friends and we booked the snorkel and taco workshop in Cozumel. It was AWESOME! Clemente was our guide and he was so great! The snorkeling spot was perfect b/c no one else was there and we were able to see lots of fish and the coral reefs. He made sure to point out fish hiding (i.e. puffer fish, lobster, etc.). After talking with short excursions company, they would still not refund our money because they say our guide would've met us there even though it was two hours late and we would've had to be back at the ship with no time to travel we went through our credit card company and they refunded the money that we paid for our excursion. We took the Journey to East Lava Pools and the West excursion when we stopped at Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. Our Driver and guide was Armando and he was great. Very knowledgeable and kind. He kept trying to apologize for the weather which was overcast at times. Obviously, It was not his fault, we did go there in October. We were picked up right in front of the ship and we all got into a 4X4 vehicle. A 4X4 was needed as we went up and down some rough and steep terrain. We saw some beautiful parts of Madeira, Including some beaches, Rain forest and of course the Lava Pools, where you could go swimming. We decided to grab something to eat and a beer. STICK TO EXCURSIONS THROUGH THE SHIP!!! When you use a company like this, there is no accountability!!!! We booked an excursion for jet skies and it was a JOKE!! First, it took about 35 minutes for our ride to get there, then when we got to the beach he handed us off to the the guy there (local) that run the jet skies and we were literally only on the jet skies for 20 minutes AT MOST, I think it was actually less than that! When I tried saying something about how short the ride was they acted like they didn't speak English and just said no. It was such a DISSAPOINTMENT! I really believe it's because they're not accountable to the ship and so they do what they want! read more
