When you are in unchartered territory, it is best to have a guide. I recently took a 14-day cruise to Alaska with a party of 7 and scheduled three excursions with the Shore Excursion group. So glad I did! From riding a train into the Yukon in Skagway, to a guided tour of scenic Sitka. We also did a Cultural Sights and Tasty Delights (China Town and local watering holes) adventure in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia - all arranged by Shore Excursions. Outsourced the tours to some vendor in mexico, and the vendor outsourced it again to some random local travel agent. Eventually nobody really knew who would host the tour and still asked us to trust them. No way I would let elders and kids to take the tour. They also refused to refund since every sale was final. Then I asked my credit card company to dispute the charge, they tried tons of excuses to reject the dispute without even mentioning they outsourced the tour multiple times and do not have a local representative at all. BBB also had a 1/5 review of this company, they should simply be kicked out of business. read more

I booked a Segway excursion in Nice. However, as we were leaving cruise ship the sky opened up and it started raining....not just raining, but torrential downpour. We obviously could not zip around on flooded streets, there wasn't anyway to call as I didn't have cell phone service. Shore Excursions should have immediately refunded, but they did not:( read more

Our group did the Restless NatI've Catamaran in Bermuda for the second time, it was so much fun. we had so many laughs while relaxing in the beautiful waters of Bermuda and drinking rum swizzles. I was nervous picking a non-cruise line excursion but Shore Excursions group had great reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I did. My excursion was river tubing in Jamaica. The bus was a bit late but they had a tent we could wait in out of the sun. The van was beyond wonderful. It was modern, with AC and impeccably clean. The driver drove responsibly. We taken to the river company. Everyone there was professional. We were individually fitted for gear. It was a small group of about 10, all from the same ship. Our river was fantastic! The river excursion was exhilarating! When we got to the beach, our driver was there. He was so patient allowing everyone time to enjoy. He told us not to worry at all about bringing sand in the van. My friend and I ended up meeting a wonderful family on our excursion that we spent time with on the ship. I was never worried about making it the ship on time because they handled everything. Side note, our ship adjusted our morning port arrival time and Shore Excursions group emailed me immediately adjust our time to match our cruise. I'd use this group again. I loved the organization. It allowed me the freedom to enjoy my vacation. read more

My experience with Shore Excursions was better than great! I would give them a perfect! I was in a group 0f 4, 2 of us were on the older side. I was concerned about the walking from the ship to the meeting places. They were spot on, how to get there, and the amount of time to get there. What I really like was that they wanted to know the ship name and the time we would be there. I was concerned about not making back to the ship in time with my Excursions. After the first one, I knew that I was in good hands. I would also like to add, we went on an excursions. It was called "Best of Juneau". The girls that took us out on the Whale Watching Boat were Amazing!! You could tell they loved what they were doing, and wanted to make sure that we had a great time! Oh we did have a great time! I believe one of their names was Clair & the other one, I'm sorry I can't remember. When I go on my next adventure, I will be using Shore Excursions again!! read more

We took Princess cruise and booked the tour in Balize. But it's not a good experience. They were trying to squeeze us with other people in a very small old van. A row can only sit 3 people but they want us to squeeze 4 people there. They also asked us to let our elementary school kids to sit on our laps. That is ridiculous. We paid for each people including kids. Why they don't deserve a seat...Plus, the van is super old. It's like 20 years old van with no seat belt. The A/C is not cold at all. Thanks God that it's not that hot that day. We have to roll the windows down to get some air in but it still felt very uncomfortable inside. Also, I don't even know what the driver (tour guy) was talking about? We sat very last 2 rows and we can not hear anything what he was talking about. The customer service is simply horrible. They are a fraudulent company charging at least a 15 to 20% of shore excursions conducted by local operators under a false guarantee that if customers are unsatisfied they will address the issue. Most guests are visiting cruise ports and destinations for the first time and rely on companies like Shore Excursion Group for excursions that are typically cheaper than the cruise lines and for the trust that the tour operators will be reliable. However Shore Excursion Group - which is a company owned by the infamous fraudulent parent company World Travel Holding, will not provide you any support for bad experience or misbehavior of local tour operators. They are just middle-men looking to make a quick buck off you. If the cruise ship misses port they will not easily refund your money and try to nickel and dime you. Their business is primarily run by vouchers issued by other cruise booking platforms run by their parent company World Travel Holdings such as Cruises.com, etc. Trust me book with established companies like Viator. Their fares are not only at time much better than Shore Excursion Group, they 100% stand behind the customer at all times. The positive reviews you see is about the excursions conducted by the tour operators and not the company - Shore Excursion Group that is just the middleman. STAY AWAY! read more

I recently booked a few tours through Shore Excursions Group due to their partnership with Costco, and I was deeply disappointed with the experience. What they don't tell you upfront is that all of their tours are subcontracted to different local tour companies, so you have no idea who you'll be dealing with until it's too late. It's really a shame that Costco has partnered with them now, as this lack of transparency can lead to wildly inconsistent experiences. On one trip, you might get lucky with a reputable tour operator and have a great time, but on another, you could end up with a terrible one. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to me for both of my tours. The first tour we ended up with was poorly organized, the guide was unprofessional, and items were stolen from us after the tour guide encouraged us all to leave things on the bus because no one else would be on it. Unfortunately, he picked up unauthorized guests when he was not supposed to and $160 of souvenirs were stolen. His response was, "I didn't think they'd steal anything." When I reached out to Shore Excursions Group, they just stated that they're not liable for any theft. The second itinerary (too late to cancel after the first terrible experience) was not as advertised. We were supposed to snorkel over shipwrecks and with sea turtles and were brought to a beach that was touristy and far away from the advertised space we should have gone to. When I reached out to Shore Excursions Group to address these issues, they were completely unhelpful. They take no responsibility for the subcontracted tours and basically wash their hands of any problems you encounter. While it's convenient to browse through different excursions on their site, it's simply not worth the risk. Without knowing who is actually running the tour, you have no way of ensuring you're booking with a reputable, safe, and reliable company. Until Shore Excursions Group starts listing the tour operators they work with or taking responsibility for the experiences they sell, I won't be booking with them again. I'm giving them 3 Stars. I wish it could have been 5 but we had a terrible experience with our 2nd tour that we booked through them on a recent MSC cruise. The Booking was through our tour planner's website: CruisesOnly.com. We also used them on our last cruise to book a bicycle tour in Nasauu which was amazing (5 Stars all the way). The 1st tour was 'Costa Maya's Chacchoben Mayan Ruins' and the local provider was 'The Native Choice.' I can't begin to explain how awesome all the staff were, from desk staff at the kiosk to drivers to the tour guide himself. The tour guide's name was Joel (pronounced 'Hoel' in Spanish. He was a local from the area who grew up playing in the ruins. His knowledge of the history of the ruins, the Mayan people, and the local area made for an amazing tour. Joel also asked if we'd like to stop in his little town on the return trip. We also loved this! We went to the local store and bought munchies and cold beers. He also knows 2 ladies who were running a fruit stand where they'd cut fresh fruit for you to eat (only $2!) - - I'd personally recommend the fresh pineapple with chili powder.... sounds weird but it was fantastic. The 2nd tour was supposed to be 'Snorkel El Cielo and Colombia Reef with Playa Mia' in Cozumel. In fairness, my wife made a mistake when she read the tour instructions. There are 3 cruise piers in Cozumel and a kiosk for the local provider, 'Wild Tours.' We ended up spending $10 on a cab to the Wild Tours kiosk at the next pier. At first, they were very nice and helpful. They explained that we could have accessed a kiosk near our ship's pier. They also told us that the snorkelling trip had been canceled due to rough water (true - the waves were big that day). They also told us, not to worry that we would be refunded for the trip that another employee was already coming there, and that we could catch a ride back to our ship with him. We thanked them and said we'd wait for the ride. In the meantime, another employee tried to see us on a beach package with drinks included. We thought it over but decided we couldn't swim anyway because of the large waves and had free drinks on the ship so we'd rather just go back to the ship. That's when everything changed. The one who offered the new package got really angry when we said we just wanted to get back to the ship. He told us that they could no longer give us a ride. When I inquired why they could no longer give us a ride when 5 minutes before everything was fine, the guy told me it wasn't their problem. I could also tell that the other employee felt bad and just stared at the ground. I also said, now that we just want our money back and aren't taking your beach package this is how you treat us? He just turned his back on me and started talking to another employee. We ended up walking for 10 minutes but were lucky enough to find a cab in front of a hotel to catch a ride back. Our driver was amazing and helped us plan the perfect day. We were able to make suggestions and Adolf also helped us pick some destinations. I had the Panoramic Santorini Tour and it was amazing! The cable car had a 2 hour line making myself and others late for this tour. They company knew about the delay and was in constant communication the entire wait. They had 1 Van available for people on time and a 2nd to accommodate those who were running behind due to the wait. Did excursion in Antigua. The shuttle bus was for 12 people and toured the island, pineapple plantation and went to a museum in a private home as well as lunch on beach. Back to ship as scheduled. Someone from SE dropped the ball and forgot to inform the local tour operators of this change and we were left hanging on to dock. Upon discussion w this travel agent, they are unwilling to refund or accept responsibility for their error. I have used Shore Excursion Group previously(SEG) with no issues. However, with my sailing on Aug 4, 2024 there were significant issues with SEG. The ships itinerary due to weather. Okay, I sailed in the Caribbean in the middle of hurricane season. I get that. Itinerary can change due to weather. I get that. I received an email from the cruise line about the change in itinerary. this is 5 days before sailing and 3 days before I fly to out. They also said tickets would be updated. I thought cool. Two days later. I had not received any excursion updated tickets. I reread the email. Excursions through the cruise line would be updated. I got mine from third party SEG. It is now a day before I fly out and SEG is not open on the weekend and ship sails Sunday. I call as soon as I can. SEG was not aware of the itinerary change. I actually had to forward the email I received to the person that was helping me. HMMMM SEG did not know about the change? Two of my excursions were updated and one was not. There was a lot of confusion at the excursion. I was the only one going at the time. Then a family of 3 showed up as I was finishing this part of the excursion and I was told I would be going on with them. No big deal. Then the four of us were told we had to wait as a group of 7 was coming. The excursion people had to call in more drivers as they did not know there was going to be this many people. Big mess. I ended up spending twice as long on the excursion as expect. Most of which was waiting around. Based on this experience. I do not plan to use SEG again. I went on vacation to get away from stress. this experience added stress. The discount is by no means worth the stress and having to contact the excursion people to work out changes. I will spend the few extra bucks to let someone else worry about changes. read more

A few of the most memorable were St Petersburg to Moscow, biking through Cadiz Spain and then most recently 3 countries in one day. The tour guides and drivers are by far the best. They are locals who k ow the areas and care for every single traveler on their tour. We saw city highlights that would never have been possible with your run-of-the-mill tour groups. (I've done those too). Transportation was always safe and comfortable. Additionally, due to weather, itineraries have changed causing us to miss some booked tours. The Mumbai Panorama Tour was a highlight of our recent Oceania cruise from Singapore to Dubai, and was the only excursion we booked outside of the cruise ship's offerings. We were a little nervous at first since we were warned how difficult the return process at our final India port could be, which was made worse by difficulties with the vehicle that had to be replaced after the first stop, but our guide, Anthony, was amazing. He was personable and knowledgeable and assured us we'd be back at the port at 2, which we considered our safety net for not being left behind. He totally delivered and had us there by 1:50! We went on a sail and snorkel trip in St. Thomas in April 2024. The experience was fantastic. The group was small and the skipper and his assistant were really knowledgeable and seemed to really enjoy what they do. I was hesitant to book an excursion with a group not affiliated with the cruise line but they were very considerate of getting us back in time for our ship departure (which had been moved up an hour last minute). We took an ocean wildlife excursion out of Ketchikan Alaska. We saved $400 booking thru this group rather than thru the cruise line. It was a small intimate tour, approx 25 people so we had great access around the boat and to our tour guide, Jessie! We saw so much wildlife and they were able to answer all our questions. We recently booked a day snorkeling trip in Key West for a friend's birthday with a group (August 18). One person's reservation was canceled out of our group of 9. We then called and were told it was too late to cancel the other reservations and that the trip was now sold out. It seems like Shore Excursions Group overbooked and then randomly chose to cancel someone. When we called to explain the situation we were told it was too late to cancel the other reservations with a refund because we were outside of the 14-day cancellation window. And that the reason they canceled one person's reservation was "COVID". We have no idea what to do at this point. I can't believe we now have decided to ditch one of the girls in the group or lose a huge amount of money.. on her birthday. The prices are better, there are more choices and, according to their advertising, they will get you to the next port if you miss your ship (although I have never had to try this 'feature'!). This time, we did a 5 port group of excursions. All worked out well. In Istanbul and Rhodes, the guide were too talkative So the excursions lasted much longer than planned and got really boring. However, the excursions to Mykonos, Santorini and Kasadasi were wonderful! My only suggestion is that Shore Excursions Group explain to their tour guides that folks don't need hours and hours of details (sometimes trying to tell all the history is just too much!). Otherwise, we have had great success with Shore Excursions Group. read more

I want to start by saying that this review was difficult to write as the shoreexcursionsgroup.com website did not provide a way to write a review for the excursion I purchased. Also, I have used Shore Excisions Group and was happy with their service and excursions in the past. Booking, payment, and tickets were all handled well. This review is for the excursion I booked, Costa Maya Beach Day, for March 6, 2025. Some aspects of the excursion were okay. For example, after walking a short distance from the cruise pier, we checked in and were taken by cab to the location immediately. The location was not great, however. Firstly, the whole time we were there, we were hustled by the constant barrage of sellers (carpets, photos with iguanas, massages, hair braids, flowers, purses, cigars, etc.). It made it impossible to relax and enjoy the sun. Secondly, the small beach area was between other hotel beach areas next to where the jet skis and other boats launched. Again, the noisy environment was not conducive to relaxation. Thirdly, I went for a swim, and although the water appeared clean, all my silver jewelry turned copper color after the swim. I had never had that happen before, and after searching online, I found that this can happen if water contains chemicals (sulfur) that react with traces of copper in the jewelry. I went swimming in Roatan and Cozumel without this happening, so it wasn't the salty sea water! Furthermore, the pictures of the beach on shoreexcursionsgroup.com website do not look anything like the actual beach. The reviews show over 4/5 stars, but since customers can't add new reviews via that website, I'm questioning where they have come from and why they are all so good. In summary, I would not recommend this particular excursion and will not be booking it in the future. read more

We did the Best of Dubrovnik Tour with a small group. The city is beautiful. Our tour guide was easy to understand and knew how to avoid crowds and see all the best places. He passed out headsets which made it easy to hear everything. He gave us ideas of where to go for food and other site seeing on our time on our own. read more
