My husband is a patient and I'm his wife. ( RN for 40 years) I'm sure the drs are mostly competent. Not all of them BUT. The staff will not answer a phone message. My husband is alive because of me. I feel sorry for people that don't have an advocate!! They need to hire people with medical knowledge. I want my husband to change cardiology practice. But he is a creature of habit and doesn't like change. You need to stay on top of EVERYTHING!!! Hire competent people and pay them well!!! Your practice has gotten too big for its britches. I like my Dr.at Shore Heart Group. Dr. Okere. My issue is the office staff is the worst. First they messed up scheduling me for a follow up appointment and the Dr. they know better to do what they did. Next is a billing issue. They overcharged me. My health provider BC BS called them. They said they would issue a refund. They did not. I called to follow up and was told a refund request was put in and not paid. Put in another request and told to wait 30 days and was not paid again. So incompetent staff and thieves overcharging isn't a good mix. read more

It's extremely disheartening that not one, but multiple offices can act in such an unprofessional manner. As one of the larger cardiologist groups in NJ, their physicians are INCREDIBLE! As a former HMH employee, and a current Director of Nursing, it's an absolute disgrace dealing with ANY of the office staff. I've contacted the offices from a professional standpoint as a nurse, and as the caregiver to my Mom. One interaction was worse than the other! I'm baffled as to how these practices stay afloat. Even upon check-in the staff all look miserable. I've been to 3 of the offices and one has been worse than the other. The staff is condescending and belittling. I have been going to Dr. Apolito for many years and he is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. He always takes the time to capably explain everything to the patient and has a very pleasant demeanor. I highly recommend Dr. Apolito and this practice to everyone. It should also be noted that I have used their patient portal and someone typically gets back to you within a few hours which is very appreciated . I have seen many negative reviews about this practice, but everyone has to realize it's extremely challenging to hire capable employees in the present work environment, but I can attest to the fact that I have never had any issues with this practice. read more

When Dr. Singh cancelled my appointment, I called to reschedule I called the Brick office four times and was placed on hold and nobody answered, nobody returned messages. Dr. Aaron is absolutely Wonderful. My family has used Shore Heart Group fro years! Always top notch expertise and referrals for needed outside services is the BEST! I have several of my family members using Shore Heart Group and now have recommended my Son in Law who is in need of Great Heart Specialists to the Shrewsbury office where they live. I use the Brick office and normally my wait is nominal. I get checked in and before my paperwork is finished I am called for the technician to do the early reviews. I was in a lot of pain, unhappy, discouraged, disappointed and lack of sleep. I was thankful, very pleased with Shore Heart Group and there findings and how they diagnosed my problem. I made one of the biggest mistakes in my life by switching Dr Pinnelis & to this group. These people don't care about your health or concerns at all. They are disrespectful, nasty, unprofessional group of people. I now have to travel back to Staten Island to see real doctors because this group of people are only out for themselves. I would give them zero stars but that's not an option. Dr Apolito was the on call cardiologist at SOCH and never saw my husband who was on the telemetry floor. He was called three times and never had the professional courtesy to call back. Apparently they care more about the $$$ than the sick patient. During the height of Covid, I HAD to see Dr Yang to get a refill of my meds. I was also in the middle of chemotherapy. The office was packed, no social distancing and the wait was 2+ hours. Apparently no patient concern as well. Obviously, I changed cardiologists the day later! This group is the most unethical group of "doctors" I've ever experienced. My Doctor here is wonderful but the office in Brick is terrible. The office is Much too small to accommodate all these seniors at one time. It is messy and needs updating. There is no place to sit. Called scheduling office to get my husband cleared for surgery. He was in extreme back pain and needed to see a heart doctor before his surgery. At first I spoke with the scheduling supervisor who was awesome. Then when I called back I spoke to someone else who refused to give her name and refused to let me speak to the supervisor. She was nasty, rude unprofessional, not at all compassionate and insinuated that I was harassing her. This is unexceptional that anyone just trying to make an appointment for a loved one in pain should be treated and spoken to like that. You walk in to an entirely full waiting room of seniors who are clearly overbooked and disregarded. Patients come in via car service and wheel chairs while you hear murmurs of ridiculous wait times. When I was told my wait time would be at least an hour more (after I asked) , I inquires if they call patients to let them know they are running behind schedule. I was told it is general knowledge that seeing a specialist entails long wait times. No honey. Not if the staff cares about their patients. Patients with heart issues and high blood pressure might I add. Disgusting. Sadly I can not say anything good about shore heart group. Because of my insurance they would not let me see a doctor I had to see the PA Haroon. He (Haroon) is very dismissive and completely ignored me during a stress test when I was in distress. The tech taking my blood pressure during the stress test did not have the bell of the stethoscope touching me (there was no way she was actually taking my blood pressure) Unfortunately that is not the worst thing about this group. I need a stent and the staff, to schedule the procedure, is rude and uncaring. During my catherization to diagnose my blockage I mentioned to the doctor the difficulty with the staff and he apologized but did not seem to care. The staff at a doctor's office is what patients deal with most and for the doctors to allow their staff to treat people like garbage is very difficult for me to understand unless they too do not care. I care for my sister full time at home and need time to make arrangements for her if I can not be with her, the scheduling staff did not care and would not help me. I have to see another cardiologist which means my procedure will be delayed but I can not trust shore heart group with my heart and my life. My cardiologist is great (Dr. Apolito). He would be five stars. Some front office staff is not very friendly to patients. Not even a cheery "good morning." Nurses are nice, though. Waiting room can be crowded, wait times usually 10-20 minutes. Parking lot often crowded too, but there is additional parking at nearby buildings. Entrance somewhat difficult for the handicapped - must walk or take your wheelchair up a slight hill, then two manual doors to open. read more

Was there recently for a stress test. ( 3 office visits) First time there the office was overcrowded , way overcrowded. !!! Should have walked out then. Staff is unprofessional, worst scheduling staff, they called me once on August 27th, 2021, to inform me about my procedure on August 31st, 2021, I was not available so they left me a message on my machine, which I already learned about it 3 days earlier from the hospital including how to prepare for that procedure, on there message they asked me to call back to go over the procedure, I did not call back, as I learned from the hospital what I should do. On August 31st, I went to the hospital at 7:30 am to know that the procedure was canceled, the Shore Heart Group scheduling team canceled the appointment on August 30th as I didn't call them back, they didn't even leave a message to let me know about that cancelation they didn't try to get a hold on me before they canceled the procedure. When I called to complain, they lied saying that they called me a couple of times but no explanation why they didn't inform me that it was canceled !!!!!!, very unprofessional, l wish there is less than one star to give them. read more

The doctor and nurses are excellent, but renovate your front staff. They are the reason my husband and I won't come back. They talk about patient's cases by name not numbers for privacy with the window open and loud enough for the waiting room to hear. HIPPA violation much? They have NO mannerisms whatsoever. Dr David Pinnelas from this group is the absolute BEST. Had heart attack in Dec of 2016 and everything from the emergency procedure to subsequent office visits and tests has been 5 stars. Office staff is great. Patient Portal is outstanding. Recently had non-emergency question and submitted it through the patient portal at 8PM and it was answered before 10AM the next day. Wife is also a patient and feels exactly the same. Shore Heart Group recently "merged" with my long term cardiologist, who I absolutely loved. Her old office staff was personable, knew me by name, took care of all my needs. Since SHG came on the scene the office staff is all new, unfriendly. They will not send blood orders to LabCorp electronically. They make me come in for a paper script. "Company Policy", they say. SHG ordered a procedure that I already had done 6 weeks prior, at a radiologist office. SHG ordered the same test again in SHG offices using SHG technician. SCAM. I intend to report them to the authorities. Obviously I am not going back to my "once loved cardiologist". Not her fault, it is the SHG bureaucratic, money greedy system. Beware.
