With that said, if I was a novice, I would have been terrified to get on the water. The inept group of high schoolers and college students that helped us get out were not confidence inspiring. The woman who checked us in told us to "be careful" multiple times and insisted that we watch the safety video. However, not five seconds after we had moved to the area where you watch the video did she tell us to go outside and get a life vest. I was shocked at the speed with which were were out on the water. Once at the end of the dock, the kid that checked us in explained no less than 3 times that "this is really dangerous" without any words of guidance or advice. I got the sense that they were just waiting for something bad to happen. Once we were out there, things were fine, although the definitely had too many people out there. We spent lots of time worrying about other riders coming up behind us or stopping short in front of us while the "staff" sat and talked on or near the path where customers are supposed to ride. Worst of all this was about $150/hour. If you are itching to use a wave runner on the bay, this place is probably your best bet. But for my money, I would drive to Marmora and rent some wave runners on the bay. I would love to give a local small business 5 stars but I just cannot in good conscious given the flippant manner in which our safety was treated.

This is where Freedom really stands out in my mind. Before being able to take any boats on my own, I had to have a PowerPoint and an on-water training with Captain Rick (who is awesome btw!). I can say very confidently that the time spent with him was worth the buy in to the club on its own. I now feel very confident on the water, so much so that I immediately took a boat out myself and spent the entire day on the water. I explored the intracoastal from sea isle back to AC and then took a trip half way up the egg harbor river. I had no trouble navigating and knew exactly how to approach other boats, dock, etc. The boats are all very new and well taken care of. They have pontoon boats, bowriders, center and dual console boats for fishing or water sports,, and they are always purchasing new boats as the membership grows. Some can be used offshore up to 25 miles. You have to take a training for that, but as a new boater I wouldn't want to head out into the ocean without that training. They will give you unlimited training so that you are as comfortable and safe as possible while out there. As a father of three I feel this is the most important thing. All of the boats have garmin navigation and charts outlining local restaurants and points of interest. This makes it pretty easy to not hit the shallows or get stuck on a sandbar. But since i got the upgraded insurance plan, towing and repairs are covered 100%. Being a new boater and given the amount of things that can go wrong on the water, this gives me a ton of peace of mind. In fact my first day on the water I drifted into some mud and was easily able to get myself out without any problems and was on my merry way. They keep a ratio of 8 members per boat meaning they buy a new boat every time they add 8 members. From talking with other members and captain Rick, it's not hard to get a boat most times and they have only ever had all boats out once or twice on the same day. I did the weekday plan so I don't have to fight the tourists for boats on the weekend but my understanding is the weekends aren't that bad especially because they have opened other locations in Cape May and Delran as well as in Delaware and New York. You get unlimited access to boats at all of the locations owned by this franchise, I believe it's 8 locations and counting so far. The best part about this club is all of the almost 300 other locations across the country and a few in Europe that you can rent from four times per year each. We plan on planning our vacations around their locations all over the country in not only ocean locations but also lakes and rivers. There isn't enough days In the year to exhaust all of those reciprocal reservations. Some locations have pontoons with water slides even. I also work all over the country so this will really be a much needed reprieve when I'm working. But add to that that I don't have to worry about maintenance, insurance, towing, etc. You have dock staff that caters to your every need, and I can just walk into the dock, hop on a boat, and be out in the bay in five minutes. This boat club is great for people that love boating because of the varied choices of boats, but also because it is so easy and hassle free. I'm not sure I ever see myself buying my own boat. My only disappointment with the club is that they don't have jetskis. I believe that with the training they give , they can definitely find a way to incorporate jetskis and still have favorable insurance coverage. I may buy a jetski at some point but as far as boats, why buy my own when I have access to thousands of boats across the country? 10/10 recommend if you are in the market for a boat, check this out before you buy one.

(Like most people, this one is about their rental business versus sales, storage or service.)…read more Set up: Easy enough but fwiw, with the other OC based companies you can make reservations and pay via a website in advance. Here, you either show up and hope for the best or you do the smart thing and call to make a reservation. A good note to file would be if you want to save a few bucks, you do the early bird time at 9:30am. This can only be reserved in advance by phone which is what I did. Once you there, you pay, sign a waiver, get a life jacket on. After that everyone gets a brief talk about where you can and cannot ride, how to operate the water craft safely and what to do in case of different contingencies. This part maybe took three or four minutes and after that they tell you to mount your horse, turn it around for you and then it's time to go like hell. The hour does fly by as things tend to when you're knocking 40mph on one of these beasts. The area you get to ride in is by no means huge, but it's big enough to be able to hit top speed/rpm and yet everyone was very respectful of spacing and there were, at least from what I saw, no close calls or any reason for the two members of staff also out there to have to intervene. If you looking for some kind of cheap value play, this ain't it. Two people with the early bird is still just a smidge under three bills but, to a degree, the price is relative because you're paying for a very unique experience that is hard to put a price tag on. I guess the key for me is, would I come back and do it again? Duh. www.beesleyspointseadoo.com/

We booked the private sunset cruise from 7-9 and were booked on the boat, Sassy. My sister lives on one of the lagoons in Ocean City and sees the boats going by her house daily. Since we knew her lagoon was a part of the route, she called about two hours before our departure to see if we could have our pickup be at her house rather than Somers Point. Captain Greg was super accommodating and was happy to come pick us up from her dock. He arrived a few minutes early so that we could get set up and comfortable on the boat before taking off. The boat had two large Yeti coolers filled with ice for us to keep our drinks cold. They also had trash cans and cups for our drinks. Captain Greg answered all of our questions about the area, was always willing to take a photo and even made sure the boat was positioned just right so the sunset was in the background of each photo.
