Recommend going on Duke O'Fluke, however, want to share my experience. First mate, Michael? I think was his name, is someone not to turn your back on. He kept giggling while jiggling my son's rod. But before we get there, it's reasonably priced, the crew is knowledgeable, and the bait is plentiful. I still swear Michael was calling it Cuckbait and not Cutbait but we will get back to him. Whether you are new to fishing or an old salt this boat has what you need. On my fishing expedition we were landing flounder left and right. All who participated in the biggest fish pool were going back and forth. Michael, who I promised to get back to, was grinning from ear to ear cause we all know the pool is a ploy to drum up some money for the leadhead deckhand. Captain called "last drift" and I joke you not, a lord of the fins landed the biggest flounder I have ever seen. Michael fist pumped along with the gentlemen till he realized he wasn't in the pool and Mike got serious. He pretended like he hadn't been jiggling my son's rod all day. Long story short he wasn't happy when the dude who landed the doormat only gave him an Andrew Jackson. To clarify, nothing fresh happened, he likes to mess with the little kids. Meaning likes to pretend like they have the big one by playing with their pole from behind. This isn't coming out right. Just watch yourself around that Trout Slapper Michael. read more

Took the 8 am trip, $25 for the "Older Adults". $5 rod rental, includes bait. Captain and Mate were very good. Captain kept moving to new spots if the fish were not biting. Snacks and drinks for sale on board. Reasonably priced. Good mix of new fisherman, seasoned fisherman and family's. The Mate helped everyone. Great time. read more

We went on a fishing trip with Duke O'Fluke last summer and have been obsessed ever since. We had such a good time fishing for flounder that we can't wait to try again. Loved that if no one was getting any bites we would move on rather than sitting in one dead spot forever. The crew was awesome and the atmosphere was super fun. read more

New owner now of the Duke. A group of 25 of us rented the Duke for a sunset cruise of the bay. The crew were very organized and helpful throughout. We all had a great time and will do again this summer. Couldn't recommend the Duke more. read more

Horrible business practices. Called the week ahead of time, knowing we were coming into the off-season. Confirmed that they would be open the following Friday, because we were coming from California. Asked if the owner could save us a spot, he said no. We were assured that they would be open and to get there early. So.... on our last day of vacation here in New Jersey, we were down at the docks at 6:30 AM, to guarantee a spot. Nobody showed, so we decided to call the phone number, and a message said they changed their hours for the season & they would only be working weekends!?!? SERIOUSLY!?!? Took my 4 year old and 6 year old on the Duke just as my father took me when they sailed out of margate almost 40 years ago. Boat, captain and crew are different but memories are the same. The captain takes you from place to place until you catch fish. The mate is knowledgeable and skilled. Be prepared for what this is. It's a salty crew catering to fishing who accommodate people of all ages. That means they help you but don't hold your hand. They fix bird nests, net fish and cut the bait but you bait your hook and fish. If they ask you to sit down and you don't the next ask won't be so nice. When the fish are coming in the boat that takes priority. All this is how it should be. My kids had a great time. Captain let them drive the boat, hold sharks and look at caught fish and crabs. Even let the 6 year old grab his own minnows. They both caught fish. Tackle was fine. Snacks and drinks available. read more

This is my favorite fishing place while in Ocean City. I have been coming here for the past 15 years and have many great childhood memories on this boat. The captain is hilarious and very sarcastic, no BS type of attitude. The first mate was very helpful! Untangling lines, unhooking fish, slicing bait.. all that jazz. We usually arrive at 7 and board right away FYI. Always an amazing time with great staff. Totally recommend!! read more

In all fairness they should call it the Duke of Sea Robin. First mate was very bizarre. He kept touching my pole (not a euphemism. He actually touched my rod... I mean fishing pole). Type of guy who can dish it out but not take it. Guy got so butt hurt that he didn't help us net the trophy fish we had hooked. He was a real sea dog type. On the bright side, the captain was a real pro. Unlike the first mate he didn't hit on customers and could actually both give and take a joke. read more

Went fishing on the 1PM trip with my family. There were maybe 20 people total on the boat so there was some room to spread out a little, and the water on the bay was very calm. The captain and mate (Mike) were very helpful, friendly, and overall did a great job taking care of everyone on the boat. Mike spent a lot of time helping people untangle their lines and unhook the fish. Unfortunately, our boat didn't land any keeper fluke (it's tough, since regulations are a minimum length of 17.5 inches) but there were plenty of catch and release fish, including some small sea bass and a couple of sand sharks. At the end of the day, it was my tiny 2 pound bluefish that won the pool, and I used most of that winning money to tip the captain and Mike for their hard work. The Duke O'Fluke is the cheapest fishing boat I've seen in NJ at $30 a person including rod rental and bait (discounted rates for children and seniors). I'd go again if I was in the Ocean City area, and I definitely recommend it as a nice family activity for the day. read more

DO NOT GO!!! Father's Day Fishing trip.....Woke up early, leaving from Bucks County, to be at the boat by 6:50 as the owner (Brook) suggested so that we could purchase our tickets and be assured a spot on the boat as it is first come first serve. They do not take reservations. So we purchased our tickets and the owner sent us to a nearby breakfast place with instructions to be back by 8. We arrived back at the boat at 7:45 to find the boat was pulling away from the dock! As we waived and screamed to him the reply was "be back afternoon". I spoke to him on his cellphone and he was so ignorant. Condescending and unapologetic as he told me he sold 3 tickets in our place and there was nothing he could do about it. As I was freaking out on the phone to him he said "listen with your ears, not your mouth....there is nothing I can do about it" we are now trapped in Somers Point for 4 hours so we can go and get our money back. Incidentally they say they don't take reservations, while we were in line he got a call and put 5 tickets aside for someone!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! read more

We took the four hour morning fishing trip and had a blast. The captain and first mate were a lot of fun, in a Captain Ron kind of way...gruff but nice. The mate was very helpful with teaching everyone about fishing, especially the novice fishermen. This is a family friendly excursion and the captain invited the kids to come steer the boat when we were heading back to the dock. My friends and I recently rented this boat for a party cruise. The owner was very flexible with times and dates for the rental. He was really willing to work with us to make sure we had everything we needed/wanted for the trip. He was easy to contact and responded to any questions promptly. We were early arrived at the boat at 6 pm for our 6:30 departure time, and the boat and captain were ready to go. This was a great start to the trip. The captain adapted our trip based on where we wanted to go and also based on the weather. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and it was very chilly/cloudy. Luckily the captain saw that we were freezing and stayed close to the shore line, making the experience better. The vibe was very laid back and easy going. Everything worked out perfectly and I could not have imagined it any better. My friends and I had a blast. I would recommend this boat for any evening party cruise. read more

2 nd trip on the duke o fluke. Over crowded mate is ok but I think bi-polar, 4 hour fishing trip is 2 1/2 hours, 2 keeper flounder have been caught in the 2 trips, drifting last no more 8 min. This will be my last trip on the duke. The morning tripeft dock at 8 am and heading back to the dock at 11:15, the ride is no longer than 10 min, but because there was a lot of kids they had to let the drive the boat back in!!
