The gazebo gives a great view of the lake and being able to walk the shore and skip rocks is always a very relaxing thing to do. There's actually a secret spot tucked off away from the lake that people don't know about. Good fishing in that part, but not so much in the lake itself from the human interaction on the edge of the water. Families come out and hang out and windsurf so it's pretty family friendly. Also a nice place to go on a date and star gaze. Lots of traffic here on the holidays like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Juneteenth, and New Years. People from all over come out and celebrate and it can get a little hectic but there's plenty of space to do what you want. I'll always love this place

They have this cool slide/rope climbing contraption that kids 5+ can enjoy. We broke the rules a bit and let both our kids (4&2) play on it before it got too rowdy with older kids. The slide can get busy so it's wise to be careful with the little ones. For the smaller kids there are some toy houses and another climbing contraption with ropes and other balancing items. Right off the playground is a nice hill so if the weather is good, I'm sure you could roll down it! This park was overall a pleasant experience and kept the kids entertained.

The city recently installed bathrooms on site, planted additional trees, a sun shield over the playground to lower the impact from the sun and keep the kiddies cooler, and some workout stations. Additionally, as mentioned before it does have a paved walking trail and pavilion. Along the trail there are two perpetually stocked dog waste bag stations and trash cans so folks can clean up after their pets. There is no water fountain at this park and I hope they install one with a dog fountain attachment at the bottom someday soon (the thought of drinking out of the bathroom is gross to me,sorry).Go here in the early morning or closer to dusk.

Here's why: Some maintenance work is needed as reflected in the photographs (especially the 1/2 basketball court) and when comparing it to some other City of Murphy Parks it just didn't seem fair to give it a 5 star rating. Wish I could have given it a 4.7 rating but Yelp doesn't permit fractional rating. This 2002 quaint park is located next to Boggess elementary school which helps contribute to the popularity and usage of the younger Murphy population I am sure. It has two shaded playgrounds (much needed during a Texas Summer), swings, a pavilion with BBQ grill (can reserve through City of Murphy Parks & Recreation @ 972-468-4444), electricity, a half basketball court, drinking fountain, backstop, open fields and a .34 mile cement walking loop trail. It is a well landscaped and maintained park. In short, this awesome resource is a must place to spend some time for the neighborhood, pet fur baby owners and dog walkers/pet sitters like me. Nice place to spend time with your family (2 legged and 4 legged family members). Check it out!

I live in the apartments right next to this and was pleasantly surprised when I went to explore…read morethis area. There's a nice clear creek that's surrounded my trails. It was really beautiful but it didn't need some attention... perhaps some trash picked up and the trails marked and it was be a really great outdoors area. We did run into a coyote but it was far away and ran when it saw us. It was very empty, only ran into one person on a Sunday afternoon. More people should check this out and help clean up the area!
