We just finished dinner at the recently opened Shaken Glass restaurant on the property. It's such a great atmosphere with most tables fashioned by a lamp made from the gourds grown on the property. It is unfortunate that we are unable to review the onsite restaurant Rye and Revelry separately. The distillery tour was AMAZING! Super entertaining and informative. They make some great whiskey here! (Not to mention the drive was beeeeyoootiful) 10 out of 10 would recommend. It's worth drive and we give it 5 stars. The restaurant: 0 stars. We sat down and it took a bit for someone to come acknowledge us and take our order. We chose water for our beverage and it took another 5 min until the server remembered to bring a pitcher over. 20 min later, we were commenting that our food was taking a really long time, when another server came and asked if we had ordered yet. We told her we had, and would she mind checking on the status of our food. She did and then our server came out with two plates. I ordered Parmesan chicken, baked potato, and steamed broccoli. It looked like it came from the school cafeteria. Smallest piece of dried out chicken with burnt Parmesan,, burnt broccoli (how do you burn STEAMED broccoli?), and a baked potato. Sooooo bad. Our other meal was a burger and fries, ordered medium, and came out well, well done. We didn't have time in our schedule to attempt to have it corrected, nor did the server ever come by to ask, so we ate it. The server never came back to offer water, I needed butter for my potato and had to go to the bar to ask for it, and he never checked on us. We had to walk to the bar to get our check. Misses the mark. It's a beautiful Sunday drive. I hope they get it fixed. This is the 2nd incarnation of this eatery. I have hoped for the best but have yet to experience adequate. The waiter is friendly enough. The attire is too casual. Lackadaisical. Invades your space by inviting himself to sit while taking your order. Perhaps some folks are ok with this. With tip and all my bill came to $43. I had the catfish dinner, 2 beers, baked potato and coleslaw. The catfish was good. The slaw did not look plentiful and the potato underbaked. I had to ask for lemon and tartar sauce, which was then served in styrofoam. The cutlery was the plastic take out bags. Why can't I have real silverware with my $43 meal? It could be so much more. It could be a fabulous, exciting place! Everything except the scenery felt haphazard. read more

This is absolutely a restaurant with a distillery! The menu is amazing and everything our table had was out of this world! The carnivore omelette was packed with good sized pieces of meat and full of flavor. The cheese grits were great. The other dish was the Crabcake Benedict. I was blown away about how large the crab cakes were and the flavor was unlike any crab cake I have ever had. We came here for the brunch, and it did not disappoint. This place is a must visit for their brunch, but assume other meals are equally as good. The distillery part was an after thought to be honest, and that's the reason we initially came here for!! I am trying to complete the Tennessee whisky trail, which is why I came here. This is the least memorable distillery I have been too... but again the food was amazing and worthy of coming back for. One fine day a representative of this distillery was at my local liquor store, giving tastes. He also gave me a "coupon". Since my friend and I had some time on our hands, we made the trip. Perhaps the most representative of a real moonshine place, it is tucked away on local roads between Smithville and Woodbury. Satellite navigation took us down on back road with few dwellings and you really did not want to know what goings on took place in them. Short Mountain Road where the distillery is located was much more welcoming. It is so peaceful up on a hill. There is a fine restaurant, but we did not eat there. We did sample a flight of eight communion cups with different offerings. That was fun. Our server was a hoot. While not cracking jokes the entire time, she was very jolly and since there were not a lot of people there we had a lot of nice conversation. Their full line of liquor is available for sale. We did also order cocktails. I had a whiskey sour that was made with real egg whites and it had a nice bite of the sour. We wanted to take a tour, but did not feel like waiting. The guide let us look inside the garage sized still house and that was sufficient. The views around the hills were well worth it. If I had enough time, I would go back to just sit, sip and relax. Two stages flanked the still house, so it looks like they do have some concerts. read more

Quite a find with great prices and fantastic service. The ambiance of a moonshine shack at the entrance to the distillery was a fun touch, and if it wasn't raining, we would've done a tour! Well thought out tasting room with such friendly and nice staff. The $10 tasting fights was such a great introduction to the whiskey. Loved just about everything I tasted - they really have fantastic organic whiskey. I also ended up sipping on a Manhattan that was extremely tasty as well. The food here was outstanding, The fried green tomatoes and charcuterie board are great shareables, and SO good. All of the house fermented and house pickled veggies were so good and paired so nicely with the meat and cheeses. I ended up with light fare going with the spinach salad with pesto chicken, which was YUMMMMMMMMMY. So much chicken, such fresh greens and I love the sweet and savory notes. So good. The rueben I was told was also fantastic and the pork sandwich was a highlight as well! First of all, I really like the food they serve at the restaurant. I've eaten there several times with out-of-town visitors and always had a good meal. We had an odd experience visiting on a Thursday night. Knowing it would be slow, I didn't make reservations. When we showed up, the hostess asked if we had reservations to which I said no. The hostess appeared very irritated that I hadn't. I assumed maybe they had a large party coming?? So we are seated and they're a few people at the bar and then just us. Once we were seated, everyone in my party mentioned the hostess' irritation. Maybe the employee was having a bad day, but not a good first impression for your customers. read more

I'll start by saying the drive out here is fun and the scenery is beautiful. Once you pull off the main road to get to Short Mountain, there is no signage about where to park when pulling in. There is also no signage directing you among their several buildings about where to go to just get a tasting if you're not here for the restaurant or a tour. We finally decided to head to what was clearly the restaurant and sat at at their bar hoping this was the right place for a tasting. We were ignored for a good while, then finally got some help. Once we were acknowledged, their bartender was friendly and helpful if not a little aloof and too busy with gabbing to both customers and co-workers to focus on providing information to us first-timers. As far as their alcohol goes: All their liquors were WAYYYY TOO SUPER expensive. $70-$80 for their whiskeys on average! None of their products tasted good, and we can't believe we saw a couple parties walk out with only 4-5 bottles of stuff and spending north of $350 each. I will say they did have a good deal on their draft/cider the day we were there. We tried a $2 cider that was pretty good (though not worth driving all the way out there if you weren't somewhat local). We didn't try the restaurant the day we were out there, but from what we saw, it looked ok - just more expensive than we'd likely opt for if in the area again. read more

A fun spot in a beautiful and historic part of Cannon County. The drive there is leisurely and yes rural as you pass Century Farms, historic churches, Cemeteries, and rural schools. The distillery has been in business for several years now and has moved from moonshine solely to a nice bourbon. We went today for Saturday lunch and enjoyed it immensely. Fun cocktails, decent beer selection too. I had the Pearl Mule with a strong moonshine kick. The better half had the Rosemary Lemonade. Nice presentation on both. The menu is not vast but plenty of choice among appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. We opted for the burgers--well prepared, tasty, cooked to order--but tried different sides, the man and cheese and mashed red potatoes. Both were thumbs up. Look forward to the next visit. read more

My husband and I just moved in just down the road from this fantastic establishment. We took friends of our's and they were pleasantly pleased with the entire experience. The service was professional and personal. The ambiance was relaxing as well. Very kind server. We ordered a flight and had a wonderful time tasting all of the choices. WoW! For a sunny Sunday we decided to take a drive to try out Short Mountain distillery's restaurant. Nestled in Cannon County Tn. It was a pleasant drive thru the countryside to get there and we really enjoyed the music and atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel welcome. I ordered a Sun shine cocktail and I had thought it might have more lemon drop flavor but it was still pretty tasty. We ordered a chicken waffle meal with biscuits and gravy, and home fries. The order was served in about 10 minutes which gives yoU a chance to talk and look around. The waffles were good, the chicken was ok, gravy and biscuits came in a small iron pan. The home fries needed some salt and ketchup. Overall it was good but didn't impress as much as I had hoped. I wilL definitely return again and try something different. Wowza! My partner and I were quite hungry after our hike at Rock Island, which was spectacular. I had seen a sign for this distillery so we popped in. It is very clean and the host and waitress were very friendly. The fried green tomatoes are a must have!! They're lightly fried with Cole slaw and feta on top. I absolutely love feta so was thrilled with this addition!!! They didn't feel too heavy at all. The tasting comes right to your table and is a sampler of moonshine, whiskey, and gin. The steak was nicely seasoned. My alfredo was alright, not the best, but I think that's because I like a super cheesy and creamy unhealthy version. The restaurant was quite and had good lighting! I hate when restaurants are too dark. I was able to easily hear my partner talk and vice versa. This place is super cute and I even brought my friend back for brunch the following weekend! I had zero idea this place even existed until I was invited by some friends. As I made the drive out from Murfreesboro I admit I had my doubts about how a restaurant, distillery with tour, disc golf course, and live band stage with occasional karaoke could possibly exist way out here. I shouldn't have doubted! This place is great! I joined some friends who were taking the mixology classes - funny dude was making mixed drinks out of the moonshine and giving out tasters - and they are already having a blast, if you know what I mean. Once that was over, we went to the restaurant. It looks like a ranch style home was gutted and opened up into a restaurant, bar area and little shop. It was the first time I'd seen something like this and frankly it looked great. Open and really clean. It wasn't very busy for a Friday night. The waitress, Lauren (I think), was quick to help us out and make recommendations. She was even gracious putting up with some of the people I saw who had a little too much to drink. The food was pretty good! I loved that quite a lot of the veggies and all the beef and pork came from the actual farm the distillery is on. Free range, as well! I enjoyed the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES and the PULLED PORK appetizers. Both came with five pieces, which was perfect since the were five of us eating together. Flavorful, hot and gone way too fast. My wife had the MEAT LOAF, MASHED POTATOES and CHEDDAR BROCCOLI. The meat loaf looked like hamburger - thin like a patty, but loose, not shaped. It was heavily covered in BBQ. It was overcooked and simply ok. The sides are outstanding, though. I had the BACON BBQ HAMBURGER with FRIES. The hamburger was thick, maybe a little too well done for medium well. A little dry. Still tasty with thick bacon. The fries were crispy and fresh. A friend got SHRIMP GRITS and raved about it. Two others got the STEAK, which also looked a little too cooked to me although they didn't complain. The mac n cheese that was baked was delicious. We also had the COCONUT CREAM PIE, which everyone loved. (I'm not a sweets person so I thought it was too sweet.) As for drinks, my wife paid $5 to have a serious of tasters of each of the moonshine and loved the apple pie one. The higher alcohol content the more likely it was to taste terrible, IMO. She ended up getting a "MARGARITA" which is the clear moonshine, with limes and other add ins. She liked it. I thought it tasted like moonshine always tastes: rubbing alcohol. ;) Don't hate. It's clearly not for everyone. My friend loved the OLD FASHIONED as well. After dinner, we went down to the band stage where a couple dudes played some hilarious bluegrass comedy pieces as well as renditions of Metallica and Miley Cirus. The seating area for the stage was just a series of stairs that kinda hurt after a few songs. Still, for free entertainment it was nice. I'm definitely interested I'm coming back again. I'll know how to order the meat next time. And my friends all loved the drinks. It was a really nice date night destination. read more

Very very good and definitely worth the drive to short mountain! We enjoyed some creative cocktails (the apple ginger and fruit tea) and delicious food. They were kind enough to bring extra pita and veggies to go with our hummus after we ran out (at no charge!). My one complaint about the food is that the pork belly that came with my farro was served in one massive hunk- it was incredibly difficult to cut and I ended up just leaving it on my plate and eating the farro (which was amazing). My friend's meal came with a side of fries and they were DELICIOUS. And I really bring judgement down on French fries. These were bomb. read more

We probably came at the wrong time, because it was very hot outside and during our tour of the distillery, the expert (Who is truly an expert indeed!) tended to go on a bit while we were inside the already hot still house with no fans or ventilation. My sweat had sweat by the time we were done! We also did the tasting and I personally came away only particularly enjoying the Short Mountain "Shiner's Select" Tennessee Moonshine. Of course, Whiskey and other spirits are entirely to taste, so this isn't a knock against the location. After the tour and tasting we ate at the restaurant, which was okay but service was very slow. I assume everything is made fresh, but when it arrived it was just okay. Overall I'm glad we came for a visit, but the place lacks a standout to make it really feel phenomenal read more

We took a tour of the distillery which was super cute and informative. Foster was a great and friendly tour guide. We went on Thursday which they just started doing and the tours on Thursday are free right now. Great experience. We bought some whisky and moonshine and ate at the restaurant afterwards. The pork belly sandwich was amazing! I got the burger which was really good but overcooked. I asked for medium but it was more well done. We also got the fried green tomatoes which were also extremely good. Would definitely go back. I was surprised such a good place existed in Woodbury. read more

****We visited this gem back in November 2015 from California but just got to writing my review**** We found this little gem when we looked up Moonshine distilleries in the Nashville area. So my hubby and I decided to make a day out of it and caught the 11:30 tour with the idea of getting brunch afterwards. Tour: We arrived 15 minutes early and Foster the tour guide was welcoming and let us do some exploring of the area which was breathtaking beautiful! When the tour started it was great to hear the history of not just moonshine but the property itself. It made the experience even more intimate and memorable. The distillery is gorgeous and although small very functional! It was awesome to see the process and the care they put into making moonshine. Restaurant: I highly highly recommend visiting the restaurant after your tour. As you come in, it like your coming to visit a distant aunt or uncle's house. You are greeted with a southerner hello and the interior of the restaurant is so homey you feel right at home! It's farm to table quality! Afterwards my husband and I enjoyed a nice and tranquil walk around the property which was just jaw dropping. I can not wait to go back to Tennessee and visit this beautiful gem again! read more

I thought I've had moonshine before, BUT apparently I was wrong. Found the tour deal on groupon and I figured...when in Tennessee... So a group of us went down to check it out. I was and still am thoroughly impressed with the in-depth teaching that Jeff provided. I love how they are a self-sustaining farm and distillery. Everything they grow goes into the moonshine and recycled. There is a distinct difference in the flavors and I have to say that their "select" is so delicious that I had to take home a couple bottles. I highly recommend Short Mountain! Note - I am only reviewing the restaurant. This was a destination brunch for us, going the very long way on a motorcycle ride to get there. It was a beautiful day with the heat levels being almost tolerable (7-8-2018). It is a really beautiful restaurant. Someone has done the details just right on this place. The hostess was friendly and for being around 1pm on a Sunday, we were somewhat surprised to find only two other tables dining. Waitress came right away and offered us water. Then another waitress came to take our drink order. I ordered the watermelon/jalepeno margarita and my husband got the Sangria, because the waitress was REALLY pushing the Sangria. My margarita was holy strong and holy delicious. However, there was no way there was watermelon in it. It was yellow and tasted straight up like a spicy margarita. When I asked the waitress if it had watermelon in it, she replied "It is supposed to". Uh, yea I know that. That drink is the only reason that this place didn't get one star. The sangria was terrible. It was incredibly sweet. I don't know many stomachs that could handle that much sweet. Needless to say, we did not drink it. So to the food. I would say that 75 percent of their brunch menu consists of a poached egg of some sort, with Benedict being presented in many ways. Husband had the Pulled Pork Benedict with the fruit bowl and while he ordered hashbrown casserole, they only had home fries, so he went with that. Poached eggs that are hard boiled are a huge no no, but that's what he got. The pork was really good, the home fries so cold and salty they were inedible (unless you dipped them in the very under-seasoned cheese grits that I got). I got the Fried Green Tomatoes Benedict. Same egg results and burned tomatoes. My other side was the asparagus. Really good, spot on and the only thing that was not room temperature on our plates. Service. SLOW. (remember only 2 other tables) We had to ask for the check, she apologized for not returning sooner, then left for at least another ten minutes. So we walked to the bar to pay and they were like "Pay your server". Well, no shit. Sum it up, 62 dollars for brunch that was basically inedible. I hate to leave such critical reviews, but someone has really put some thought and money into this place. Whoever that is, get in your restaurant and get some training done. Your bartender, your chefs and your service staff, while friendly, haven't been given the tools to make your restaurant successful. And if they have, then you need to find new staff. read more

We spent the afternoon enjoying the great food, drinks and wonderful staff, well worth a stop by and worth the drive. The view is great and all of their mixed drinks are very good. If you are looking for a large Distillery to look at this may not be the one it is pretty small and not much to see but they know how to make whiskey, food and mixed drinks. They treat everyone great and other than being small no complaints from us, we will be back again keep up the great work. read more

Visited this place for my wife's birthday. The food was great. The drinks were great. The service was awesome. I got the steak with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. The steak was cook perfect and the mashed potatoes had great flavor. The Brussel sprouts were to died for with the balsamic glaze over them. My wife got the catfish with a crab cakes and fries. The catfish and crab cakes was cooked and seasoned perfectly and went well with the French fries. The group also got the 3 appetizers on the menu. The potatoes, the spinach dip and the fried green tomatoes. They were all very good as well. The drinks were strong and refreshing. A great balance. The staff here were top notch. Travis, our waiter was awesome and did a tremendous job. He went above and beyond to really make the dinner special. The next time iam in the area. I will surely be visiting again. read more

Bourbon fans so while in town on a little getaway decided to take their tour. Small local setup so not a lot to see but Davis our tour guide was awesome. So passionate about their product and the local history of shine. Amazing stories and a lot of fun tasting their product!
