We enjoyed the hotel's proximity to the river and main area of downtown. Plus, having a casino attached to hotel was a bonus. We arrived about 45 minutes prior to check in, but the hotel receptionist did not hesitate to allow us to check in early. Unbeknownst to us, our hotel room was upgraded to a Roulette King room. Our room was located in the 5th floor at the very end of the hall. So there was no constant foot traffic around our room which was nice. The room itself was spacious. I don't think I ever stayed in hotel room that had a six person dining room table in it! We had a nice view of the river as well. The room also came with two TVs. My wife and I did a quick walk through the casino just to check it out. There were a lot of gaming options but there was no free booze while gaming. My wife was excited about having a Starbucks adjacent to our hotel lobby. This is a phenomenal hotel and would definitely consider staying here in the future!

No greetings, no description of the facilities or services available. Every day we had to ask at the front desk for them to clean the room. The first night we asked for a couple of additional pillows which we never got. The mattress was good but the worst pillows ever. The (older) lady at the front desk was the least friendly person ever, let me put it this way, the TSA agents at St Louis airport were way friendlier than her. The room was okay but the second day they just folded used towels back on the rack (wet and dirty towels). I will never stay there again and I wouldn't recommend it either

Terrible school district! My kids went 1 year to this district and I would never submit them to…read morethat kind of trauma ever again. Bad enough people are moving out of the district. Our subdivision literally lost 4 families including ours at the end of this school year because nobody wanted to put their kids back in this district next year. They all went to North Elementary. Granted all school districts have their own set of issues but this one is by far the worst. There are numerous teachers who are abusive towards the children and the school protects them! Several kids have come home with bruises because one of the teachers who works during lunch flicks them really hard if they misbehave. Everyone was complaining that their kids grades including mine were going down the tubes due to teachers refusing to actually help the children who struggled actually understand the lessons. Also they make these kids eat in the dark and in silence. If they talk during lunch their made to fill out a disciplinary sheet and apologize, moved to a special table and shamed in front of everyone, and have to go to a reteach room which is basically a brainwashing room. The music teacher takes your kids out of the school without even asking for parents permission from the parents or even so much as notifying them that he's doing or going to do so. Their supposed to be mandated reporters however my daughter had gone to their school councilor on several occasions and told her how her mothers boyfriend has been abusing her and her other siblings while she's been at her moms house and nothing was ever said. Not to me. Not to the state. No one! I only found out later when she finally came to me and she even told me about how she had gone to her councilor for help! Also my son has asthma and had on 2 different occasions gotten so winded that he passed out and had hit his head hard. The school nurse never called, sent a note home, nothing! My son could have had a concussion and we wouldn't had known! Other than he has deep gauges and bumps on his head on both occasions. That's the only reason we had any idea that anything had happened. Their supposed to be an anti bullying school district but nothing is ever done about any of the kids who do bully. They actually punish the ones who are getting bullied. Mine had told them numerous times about a couple kids and they did absolutely nothing. Eventually mine defended themselves on a couple of occasions and were punished for it! Which these particular kids weren't just targeting mine. At least 5 other kids were complaining. Lastly don't let your kids get sick here! They are strict on their attendance because they want the money for you kids being there and if they miss for any reason, be prepared to find a very rude letter in your mailbox stating their gonna call dfs on you if they miss anymore days. They will even send you one of these letters even if they were at school and the school nurse sent them home that day! When I confronted this school about these issues they turned to dirty tactics and decided to attack my children over it. Needless to say that I dropped the issue in order to keep my kids from paying for it. Other parents have tried bringing up the same issues with no prevail. I wouldn't suggest this school or district to anyone ever and my children along with about 12 others that I know of will most definitely never be back that's for sure.

If only every village of 1150 folks could have such a place (and only one letter short of YMCA). My desire is more to promote visiting Cobden in a general way. I met the now ex-mayor a couple years ago, an old, feisty progressive named Molly Beckley. Cool enough, but it's where I met her that excites. It was a P'urhepecha in the town-long park bordering the train tracks. That's a cultural celebration that comes from Cheran in Michoacan, Mexico. People from there have come to this area for years to harvest peaches and apples. Now they infuse the place with Hispanic life and, as the ex-mayor wisely saw, tax dollars so welcome in a struggling town. Of course the Peach Festival is still more famous. Then there's the museum. Rumor has it some avid collector's wife finally had enough - "But, dear, you already have an arrowhead" - so the guy ended up decluttering the house and starting a museum. It's right next door to the Mexican grocery. In addition to all the things in all the little museums, it has a jawdropping collection of Kirkpatrick pottery from just down the road in Anna. Oh, sure, there are presentation pig flasks and pipe bowls destined for sales to southern slaves, but it's sections of ceramic funeral markers and chimneys that really do the jaw-drop. And for those longtime Illinois natives, yes, it was the Cobden Appleknockers who won a state high school boys' basketball championship back in 1964. Do drop by when you can.

When we got here at about 7pm, we were greeted instantly by a front desk clerk who was really friendly and quick. Check in was such an easy process, which was really helpful since I had a 5 year old who was dying to swim after spending 10 hours in the car with the promise of the end goal being to swim at the hotel. The hotel lobby and hallways were all really clean and well maintained, and the room was nice but I was really surprised at the size of the bathroom. Everything was well stocked and the shower worked amazing. The pool area was clean, it was nice that there was a baby pool that's 1.5' deep attached to the pool. While the pool area felt a little crowded because of all the people there, everyone was really nice who was in that area. While the friendliness of the guests isn't a reflection of the hotel itself it is a helpful reflection of the travelers that go through the area. There is a handful of restaurants nearby with Red Lobster and Olive Garden literally being in the same parking lot. We walked to Olive Garden in about 2 minutes. The continental breakfast was ready and out by 6am start time, and was pretty decent. They had a good selection of breads, pastries, cereal, fruit, yogurt, waffle makers, eggs & sausage and biscuits & gravy. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm in the area, and I'd recommend it to anyone staying with kids.

I tried for a good month to get a hold of them and nothing. Eventually they just started ignoring my calls and sending me to voicemail. One day I called from a different number and got through so I got to talk to Bob. He said to call back in 2 month and that he would give me my deposit back. Tried calling and back to ground 1 where they keep blocking my calls. Oh and the lady also told my mom that it wasn't her fault COVID happened. Well it isn't my fault either and I was never told it was non refundable so I feel it is only fair I get my deposit back. If I could have rebooked then I would but I live in a completely different state. I feel it is very unprofessional and unfair that this company is acting like this. I would not recommend them at all
