We decided to catch a quick flick after dining at Pappadeaux which is located directly across the street. We purchased tickets at the self serve kiosk located right when you enter. It was quick, easy, and user friendly. Since we had just left Pappadeaux we bypassed the popcorn and snacks at the concession stand. But we did opt for slushies and the gentleman at the counter did a GREAT JOB with his sales tactics to upgrade us from a small slushie, which is what we intended to order, to ordering the reusable slushie cup that changes colors. Movie theater and bathrooms were clean, except one of the arms of our recliner had melted butter all over it from the previous movie goer. Worked in this same building on 2 separate occasions between 1973 & 2010 so I can speak first hand that the theatre looked tired with torn up pavement in the parking lot, ripped carpet on IMAX steps, dated blue bathroom dividers, & former cafe walk looking like a ghost town. Made me sad to see this after experiencing Showcase Cinemas numerous up dates & expansions from its original 4 plex build. The glory days of the cinema are sadly so far in the rear mirror. COVID only sent fuel to this fire! read more

The seating is pretty hit or miss, with some being in pretty rough shape due to the cheap material that was used during renovations. It can also be pretty expensive here with snacks and drinks. It's probably my least favorite chain in the Cincinnati. Hopefully they can update again sometime soon. At least they have Imax! read more

Machines weren't working to let us print the tickets, so we go up and she tells us which theatre (gives us wrong directions) so we get to the theatre and wait out the 30min of commercials only to realize they told us the wrong theatre. We didn't buy the tickets; they were purchased by friends online. The check-in process seemed haphazard. The woman that scanned the barcode from his phone was then the person monitoring people walking into the theater. We got to this post at least 15 minutes after the initial check-in. There were four tickets for the IMAX and as we approached, she recognized Gregg and sort of waved us all through. I realized seating is assigned, but for this show there were a LOT of empty seats. It feels like we could have purchased four tickets and gotten a much larger group through. Of course this wouldn't work if the show was sold out, but my point is there don't seem to be checks and balances in place. The seats were comfortable enough; nothing fancy. read more

Saw Superman last night - it was a great movie, but I chose the wrong theater to watch it in. I'm a bigger guy, and the seats aren't big guy-friendly. The seats were flimsy, and if you are 6 ft or taller, then prepare for cramped leg room. It was chaos, and there did not seem to be any organization on the theater's part. The sound system in the auditorium also seemed off, as it was not as clear as an auditorium with a Dolby Atmos sound system. Cleanliness must also be an amenity that they choose not to offer. The floor was sticky. The men's room had no soap in the dispensers, and the hand sanitizer dispenser hadn't apparently seen hand sanitizer since the pandemic. read more

Nice movie theater chain, similar to AMC. Clean establishment, they have a bar where you can watch a game. Lots of choices to eat! This place is huge! We went to IMAX to see The Led Zeppelin movie. We were very disappointed with the condition of the theater and for that reason, will never go back. The seats were dated and so worn they had saggy round indentations in the seats. They were uncomfortable and black with dirt. The floor was sticky and scattered with popcorn. In addition, the theater was very warm and had a bad smell, presumably from the filthy upholstery and floor. The carpet in the main areas was also grimy with dirt and the bathroom had trash on the floor. To be fair the presentation and sound system were good, but the environment really ruined the experience. The tickets cost $40 for 2 people. Extra cost for a far inferior experience to Liberty Cinematk or Regal where we usually go. read more

It took me several attempts before I found a theater with good reviews and worth checking out. This one was on the top ones to try based on the surrounding areas. I was actually quite surprised by how many theaters had such bad reviews. I'll be honest, I was nervous to try this one but was very excited for the movie. We went to see Avatar 2 in 3D and we were incredibly excited. Got the popcorn, nachos and napkins and headed in. The chairs were decent to sit in but we're not the newer recliner seats. I was disappointed as I love the new recliners that theaters have but oh well. We enjoyed our movie and everything and would go back here again if we could get higher end seating. read more

I took my youth group here for a movie night after Christmas. I showed up to purchase tickets ahead of time. They worked with us to get us a lower rate on tickets instead of full price adults. We didn't have enough to get "group rates". The girl working the ticket counter was very pleasant and helpful. When we arrived for the movie, of course my youth group kids wanted snacks. No biggie. We ordered 11 popcorns, 1 pop, 9 Icees, and 4 waters. The snack counter workers were quick and efficient in getting all of our snacks together. I had not been to this theater in years. It was still a nice theater to visit. I need to make sure I visit them again soon! read more

Someone was smoking weed the entire movie and the whole theater stank terribly but when I told the manager she did nothing about it and wouldn't give me a refund. If you want a dark place to do drugs in public and not be disturbed, come to this cinema. Otherwise just wait till it comes on a streaming service. read more

I made it clear earlier that I prefer cinemas with reclining seats. Outside of that, you can be run-of-the-mill and I'll still be more than satisfied. My sister and I wanted to see Lion King and this was the nearest theater to our current location. They have reclining seats so I was happy and we went off. The theater itself is definitely older, with a main concession area in the middle of the lobby and heartier menu concessions to the sides. There's a small arcade area to your right and a bar. I don't think the majority of this has been changed since my last visit 15 years ago. However, everything seems to be well maintained and there was enough staff for everything. We bought our snacks and headed to the theater. The seats were comfortable and we were happy to discover the theater wasn't too packed for the screening. We would be happy to come back again if we are in the area and we want to see a movie. read more

Saw "the little things" tonight and had 4 rude kids, taking calls, talking the whole time. Tickets weren't scanned, no employee ever checked the theatre - teens have run a good bit of customers out of malls and seems theaters are next. I have been to several movies here recently. They are offering a lot of $5 movies of shows that are GREAT to see in a theatre again. Harry Potter series, A star is born, ET, Star wars movies ETC. I visited this theater the weekend it opened when Toy Story hit the theaters in the 90s. It's gotten both better and worse over the years. It's currently in an upswing period with reservable seating, new seats and a gorgeous nearly complete interior remodel. IMAX and Director's searing is phenomenal now with catered seats as well. read more

I remember when I first moved down here this was considered the "state of the art" theater in the area. Unfortunately all these new theaters popped up, older theaters in the area upgraded, and Springdale just kind of stayed the same. It's crazy how far the theater experience has improved over the past 7 years. As for this theater, there's nothing particularly wrong with it, there's just nothing special either. They have the old school theater seats. The visual and audio quality of the movies shown here is lacking a bit. Their IMAX theater is one of the lesser IMAX theaters I've been too..both in size and quality. The crowds here aren't the best on weekend nights. Theater management doesn't do much to control rowdy ignorant people in the theaters..which really ruins it for everybody else. Overall I still come to this theater if it's playing something that isn't playing everywhere..or if they happen to be playing something around the time I'm looking to see a movie and am in the general area. I don't go out of my way to come here tho..especially with all the other better options that the Cincinnati area has to offer for my movie going experience. read more

If you live in a university theme park plucked-down in the middle of a cornfield, a.k.a. Oxford, OH, then the Springdale 18 is your closest "megaplex" cinema. Yes, Oxford has the Princess and Hamilton has the AMC, but neither markets itself to much beyond family fare and teen trash, IMHO. So if you need to see a non-artsy Hollywood flick, or a major indie, then the Springdale 18 is your place. A bit closer than the Esquire, my choice #1, which doesn't always play the classy trash I like (lol etc *inserts snark here). NOTE: While I've never had GREAT popcorn here, I've never had BAD corn either. It's always a "go" on the popcorn here for me. read more

Wow! This might be the worst movie experience I have ever had...First, and only positive, the theatre itself seems to be really nice. The interior is laid out well and seems to be rather new. The reclining seats were very nice too. Now, the concession stand, the girl behind the counter was just rude. Didn't want to answer questions and seems annoyed the entire time. We asked if we could do a bucket of popcorn and were told that wasn't possible although behind her. The bags are just greasy and not easy to share. Then a lady walks in to the theatre with a bucket of popcorn. Then, the crowd started to come in. It is fine to talk and move around during the previews. The theatre worker came in before the movie even started and shouted to the group to be quiet. It did not improve so we left. We did get a refund but the lady issuing it seems so baffled and unsure what to do. Overall, It was not a fun experience and not likely to go back... read more

Last night my husband, myself and two other couples went to see I Heard The Bells. The only thing good about the whole experience was the movie itself and the recliners... #1) The theater was not cleaned after last movie goers exited. There was food in the seats and the cup holders were so sticky that my cup stuck to it. #2) They were at least 15 minutes late starting the movie. #3) After paying 26$ for popcorn, a drink and a snack turned out that the popcorn was burnt. My husband isn't one to speak up so I did without. #4) Since I didn't have the popcorn I asked my husband if he'd go get me a soft pretzel with cheese . After paying 6$ for the pretzel they informed him that they didn't have any cheese. #5) At the end of the movie they for some reason didn't feel that it was necessary to turn on the lights so that we could see to exit. We were a group of 6 ranging in age from 48 to 83. The eldest had to make his way down the steps to his motorized scooter via the flashlight from my husbands phone. I hate being so disappointed after shelling out (what to us) is so much money. read more

I went to see the remastered version of Yu-Gi-Oh the movie from 2004. The remaster was beautiful and vibrant. The screen is big and the picture was high-quality. The sound was amazing, no problems whatsoever. I love supporting special events like this. Iove the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise so much. read more

In many ways, a movie theater is ... a movie theater. If it is clean (yeah I have been in places where the floor was like fly paper), has a first-run line up of movies, has concessions (wish they were not such a huge profit center), has comfortable seating, what differentiates 3 stars from 5 stars? Springdale 18 handily meets those criteria for me. It is clean, up to date, has added features of food vendors beyond the usual concessions, a bar on site, 18 screens, a variety of theater sizes and services inside the auditorium, and more. It is excellent in all those regards. What sets the Springdale 18 theaters as clearly a 5-star winner is the Starpass card. As a loyalty card it is strong. Benefits from attending include a predictable list of freebies. But in addition Starpass offers the Silver Screen program (classic films on Mondays, 1 PM, $2.00 admission including small popcorn and soda), Bargain Tuesdays and Senior Wednesdays. If you have the time, there are features beyond the "norm" for movie theaters. Clean, comfortable, great schedule of shows, many extras in its screens and services, and the Starpass card. If you are a frequent movie goer, give Springdale 18 a try. read more

We saw Gravity in 3D on the IMAX screen this afternoon and it was amazing! This is the type of movie that really needs to be seen on a screen this large. The theater is your typical multiplex with all the new bells and whistles. The woman we purchased our tickets from was friendly and professional, as was everyone else we encountered. I even got a good size courtesy cup of water with ice! Important for me...really clean restrooms, which earned the fifth star! read more

This is one of my favorite theaters! They have your typical stadium style seating and decent quality of sound. But what I love about this theater are all the different options available for the movie goer! They have the Directors Theater - in seat service - food and drinks! What What! They also have multiple options for food...regular snack bar, Nathans Hot Dogs, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and a restaurant...that serves Beer and mixed drinks! Get in mah belly!! Anytime I can watch a good movie and have a beer, well that's a win for me! They also have special showings of old movies and special event showings...UFC, Holiday specials, etc. They have cheap movie days, so if you want to grab a movie for less than $10 bucks you can do that! Restrooms are always clean. I just wish they were closer to me! read more

Came here on a visit from out of town to see the new Star Trek movie in 3D. Its a big, nice theatre with a full bar and huge concession stand, including pizza and other unhealthy dinner type foods. The screen itself was huge, seating was comfy, and on opening night it wasn't even busy. Definitely recommend. read more

This is my regular go-to theater, and I even live like 3 minutes away from one. Choosing to make the slightly longer drive to this theater usually provides a better experience. This place pretty much has it all: roomy theaters, plenty of concession, including a Famiglia pizza counter, ticket kiosks, arcade games, a self-playing piano, and even a sit-down restaurant with a full bar. Pretty awesome when you can do dinner and a movie AND a drink all in one location. They've also got a directors hall where they premier movies with super cozy chairs and people who take food orders and bring it to you. All around great theater. This theater is your typical place to watch movies as far as the seating and sound quality goes, but it does have some other things as well. There is a restaurant and bar inside, along with a place to order pizza and things you wouldn't see at a smaller place. Of course it has your typical snack bar and concessions for those bucket o pop and salty popcorn cravings. I do think they show some interesting things such as the old horror movies and Riff Tracks that I have never seen at other theaters. The director's hall is kind of odd though. I went recently and they made us all sit in assigned seats?? It was more expensive AND they told me where I was allowed to sit. I felt like I was in school again or something. Very odd, and if this were the case again I don't think I would choose to see a movie in there. All in all, it's expensive, which I feel they all are now a days, and it's nothing special, but it's still a good time to get out and catch a movie. I know they used to have cheaper tickets on Tuesdays too, so check for that before you go. read more
