I was admitted with a kidney stone that left me literally kneeling by the hospital bed in agony when he first came in to see me. From the moment he walked in, his kind and calm demeanor made a huge difference. He didn't just rush through -- he took the time to explain what was happening, what my options were, and how we could relieve the pain and get me on the path to healing. He treated me like a person, not just a patient in crisis. His expertise was clear, but what stood out most was his compassion. He reassured me in a moment when I felt completely overwhelmed, and he guided me through the procedure with such steady confidence that I felt safe placing my trust in him. Thanks to his care, I am able to move from a place of unbearable pain to healing and stability. I'm deeply grateful to Dr. Barme and would highly recommend him to anyone facing urological issues -- not only for his medical skill, but for the humanity he brings into the room.

The staff member who answered was consistently brusque, interrupted me repeatedly when I asked questions, and made no effort to explain my options. When I explained that my situation was urgent and asked whether there was any possibility of being seen sooner, her response was simply, "No." There was no explanation, no discussion of alternatives, and no attempt to help. Despite this, I agreed to take the earliest available appointment. Because of the office's requirement to cancel at least three days in advance, I understood I would effectively have no ability to cancel without penalty, but I was willing to accept that because I needed care. While she was entering my personal and insurance information, she abruptly stopped and asked, "Do you want the appointment or not?" At that point, I decided not to continue. Interactions like this fall far short of the level of professionalism and respect patients should expect from a medical practice. Regardless of how busy a doctor's office may be, patients deserve to be treated with courtesy, have their questions answered, and feel that staff are making a good-faith effort to help.

I felt so good in fact, that I had to be careful because I did not feel like I had surgery. I'm 73. Did I have doubts? Absolutely. Who in their right mind doesn't? But, I knew I had to make a decision. And, with the help of my daughter, Dr. Ross's nurse, Ki, and Dr. Ross, I did. Before my surgery, I had a prostate exam and cystoscopy. Neither experience is exactly what I call fun. I also had a catheter tube inserted in my penis for a month. I'll let you figure out how much fun that was. As you may be aware, when your prostate really starts to act up, the bigger danger is it can cause great injury to your kidneys. Which can lead you down a road of no return. That helped me put all the discomfort and pain into perspective. Your experience will be different from mine, of course. But I have to say that Dr. Ross is an excellent surgeon! and I hope this message makes it easier for you to take action on your behalf and feel confident about the decision you make.

I finally stopped going to the office due to the ineptness of the staff, but was coaxed back in by the doctor. Unfortunately, the same issue has occurred on my first visit back- not yet a full hour, but I was the first person in the office and they still took the person who arrived after me first. I'll address the issue with the group and appropriate licensing boards, but you should be aware of their lack of professionalism, timeliness and standards. I've done all my due diligence in relation to arriving early, checking in and following directions- and I have no issues with interpersonal relationships or behavior- so this is egregious.

Apologized for the no heat, quickly got through the appointment with my apologies for getting upset. And I guess it's unusual for her to explain lab results in my chart or for any follow up survey from me like my Stanford appointments always do. They could have warned me the building heat was broken and had been for some time. Edited after thinking about this: it seems intentional to have no heat in her office. Why?

If you are looking for a warm and caring doctor-urology practice with impeccable bedside manner,…read morethis place is probably not for you. If you want an accurate "no-nonsense" diagnosis and care, this may be the place to go. I have been to the Oakland and Danville locations which are clean, pleasant and easy to find. Both have ample parking: parking garage structure for Oakland and large lot for Danville. My family member had an emergency and needed to be seen quickly. I appreciate they took the time to squeeze us in the very next day. However, the office staff is curt, impatient and one of the receptionist (at the Oakland office) had a bit of an attitude. I don't know if they were having a bad day but it was unpleasant to be around. I was also placed on hold for a good 15 minutes one time. As for Dr. Welty, he is fairly nice, doesn't sugarcoat things and straight to the point. You can tell he is very busy as he doesn't take the time to chat or get to know the patient. That's completely fine as we are there to get answers quickly. You can tell they are fully booked as the waiting room is always crowded. We probably will return in the future to see this doctor if needed.

He supposedly had the reputation of being one of the best in his field but in hindsight must question what criteria was being applied to justify his rating. At the time I was dealing with frequent and /or urgent urination. I was desperate for answers as this chronic situation was negatively affecting my daily life. After cursory, short-lived limited attempts to solve the problem I felt pressured and ultimately agreed to undergo the Saline TURP procedure which at least then had side effects with profound and permanent reduction of sexual functioning. This was approx. dozen years ago (I am currently an otherwise healthy 79-year-old) when I was still sexually active and fully intact. That all ended with the surgery and I now have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life, even though even at my age I still have a very strong sex drive. Not a day goes by when I do not regret not having sought a second opinion. I don't know if anything has changed in the intervening years but if not would not recommend this practice to anyone. Oh, one more thing. The surgery did nothing to reduce the urination issue. In fact, it's now worse than before.

I was very happy with my experience at his office. The staff was friendly and efficient and parking is available in the same building, which is a plus because I hate driving around looking for street parking. The office also validates parking so you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it. I was parked from 2:20pm to 4pm for about $4. Minus one star because of the wait. I'm a new patient and my appointment was at 2:45pm. I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out necessary paperwork, but wasn't seen until sometime after 3:30pm. The staff and the doctor were very apologetic and explained that they had some emergency cases that backed them up. Sh** happens, I guess. There's really nothing I could do about that in such a situation. I'm just against waiting more than 30 minutes for any appointment I've arrived on time for. I'd say he was worth the wait, though.

I started with extreme brain fog and headaches that resulted from long Covid but felt exactly like I did when I had my last major concussion a few years ago from a freak accident where it body flung out of a car. I learned about HBOT from and book about concussions so I found holistic hyperbarics which wasn't the closest HBOT facility to me but I like that when I called, they were a lot nicer on the phone then the place that was closer to me. All the staff that I have met there, like Derek, Shelby, Sam, Pedro, Keyshawn and Jordan have been very nice and made me feel very safe. I like that the spa feels clean enough on the inside of the chambers and I don't have to worry because all of the staff are EMTs so they can take care of you if they need to and everybody is well educated about the process which I love. I really like the fact that there are windows that help with the claustrophobia, and you could peek outside of the windows if you feel scared. Also, the EMTs keep checking on you to make sure that you feel safe and aren't freaking down. They all do such a great job that they are what makes this place great. After 60 sessions, my headaches have lessened but they are still present. I read other reviews where people had bruises that healed faster, but I had bruises that I would notice on day one during the week, and the bruises would fade but still took a week to fade as they normally would do without 5 HBOT sessions in between. Also, some lucky people had old scars fade. I had zero old scars fade because I took before and after photos to compare for myself and the after looks like the before. Don't forget having a healthy diet while going through this therapy. I gave up caffeine, alcohol and unhealthy foods for months. I also incorporated a few juice cleanses throughout my healing journey. I'm glad that I don't have the headaches that I initially came in with, but people with my condition also said with normal time they fade. One day, I hobbled in with Achilles' tendinitis from not stretching enough am just running everyday. Hoping that HBOT would help alleviate the new pain because I read a medical journal article about it helping. I had daily sessions that week, and my tendinitis did not go away so I had to go to my minor injury doctor to get a walking boot and stretches. I think it was because I wasn't driving deep enough and my body just needs more pressure. I called Christine and left a voicemail about not having enough pressure. She called me back the next day but I missed her call and she left a voicemail saying that they don't do that. Still thinking that I wasn't diving deep enough, I was at 2.0 ATA by the time that I left, and that was the pressure when I started to actually feel that it was working. The only reason why I was at 2.0 ATA was because I kept asking the technicians to give me a deeper dive . My regular physician told me that she didn't know enough about HBOT to recommend to me. Holistic Hyperbarics has an on-site physician who just was never there whenever I was so they never saw me but they wrote me a prescription to use the HBOT chambers. I'm kind of a clean freak, so when you take off your shoes to step into the chamber, you step onto a floor mat with your socks, but that same floor mat is stepped on by lots of shoes. You can tell because your socks would get dirty from the contact. Insurance didn't pay for this so my experience is all out of pocket. It wasn't the miracle that I was hoping for but at least I tried a different methodology on my healing journey.
