I love this store! Everyone who works there is so helpful and kind. Their inventory is broad and up to date. I bought a sectional and a dining set. Their furniture is way nicer than anything else in town or any chain store and their prices are very fair. The delivery was also excellent. They came on time. The delivery men were very nice and respectful and professional. They took great care of the furniture and my house. This is the absolute worst furniture store in St, Louis. If you don`t mind waiting months for your furniture this is the place for you. Now they tell me my order is stuck on a boat somewhere overseas. I`ve asked for a refund multiple times with absolutely no response from these people. It seems as though their sales people judge a book by its cover. My husband and I walked in this week with our two youngest children. We have been looking for outdoor furniture for a long time, and were hoping to find what we're looking for at Shubert. We were greeted as soon as we entered and condescendingly reminded that Shubert is a high end furniture store. We have been looking for outdoor furniture for nearly a year, and put in a very large fiberglass pool last summer, plus all the landscaping that goes with it. We did our homework, and we're aware of Shubert's price point. Shubert sells outdoor furniture, which our family certainly could afford, however we have gladly crossed Shubert off of our places to buy from...forever. read more

I do not recommend shopping at Shubert Design. Though I am usually a huge advocate of supporting local STL businesses, this was far and away the worst shopping experience I've ever had. I purchased a beautiful couch that, unfortunately, did not fit up the staircase into the living room. The delivery guys ensured me it was "no big deal" and that the sales manager would call us. When I spoke with the manager, she told me I would be charged a several hundred dollar "restocking fee", and no money back on our card. After a frustrating week of trying to negotiate with the sales manager, they charged me a total fee of $570. I lost 30% of the total price to this disgrace of a business. We have had nothing but a positive experience with Shubert Furniture. The selection of furniture and accessories provides the shopper with plenty to choose from. All staff members have been polite, helpful and courteous. We worked with Farida and her knowledge and guidance was spot on. She provided honest feedback but was not pushy in having things her way. In addition, she is a very nice person! During the purchase delivery process, we had some unique personal issues arise. Mr Shubert could not of been more accommodating to us. Public warning on this company! They sold a discounted table to my sister weeks before Covid shut down companies and told her it would come in two weeks. It never came and the company closed down during COVID and never communicated the delay. After reopening, my sister finally got a hold of someone and they told her the table wasn't coming because they sold it to someone else after she had already paid for it in full! They stopped answering her emails and wouldn't return her calls. When she tried to dispute the payment with her bank to get her money back they lied and said they delivered the table. Horrible business and not worth giving your money to for overpriced furniture. read more

I have to agree with the other yelper everything they said is how my experience went. There just are not enough good furniture stores in the area and I found myself wanting something ornate and grand with great quality. I will say that they had excellent furniture compared to everywhere else I looked and I went everywhere.....however---upon entering the store....we were not acknowledged in any way. The furniture is just smashed in there and not displayed very well at all for them to call themselves a design center. I think they do a pretty piss-poor job.....I got no ideas but I wanted to simplify and clean some shit out - it felt like grandma's house. Most of the workers are older ladies with an attitude.....I did see some good pieces at a good price but after my experience here I have since ordered it online. I finally had to hunt a lady down and ask her to help us and she was concerned that another person had said hello to me and I said yes she said hi and walked on---as a consumer it is my right to choose a service person of my choice and just because you work commission and I walked in the door and it was your turn doesn't mean I'm doing business with you.....so after we straightened her out on that. I wanted to put some money down on a piece that was 1200.00 I wanted to basically do same as cash in 90 days. This was a fabulous price on this because on line I have seen it for as much as 4000. I put 200.00 and everyday for two weeks that bitch called my cell number and acted like she was a collector for the rest of the money she would leave very rude messages in a ridiculous tone and from my understanding they have a huge warehouse so I really don't see what the problem was...then she started leaving messages on the phone saying we are going to lose the money we did put down--so I had the hubby call her and she was ridiculous on the phone and wouldn't let him get a word in at all.....He asked for the manager to call him back and she tried to block that from happening because all of a sudden another lady called and miraculously we were able to get a refund on what we put down and walk away from this place......I feel this place needs to clean house, get with the program, and get a new attitude. I walked through the entire store and two employees looked me in the eyes but continued to go back to what they were doing before hand. Granted, it was a Sunday, I'm only 28 years old, and I was wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. They do have very nice looking furniture but it is a bit expensive; I have seen fancier stores charge even higher prices so I guess the prices are probably appropriate. The style is a little bit lacking as far as modern furniture; it is more classic and ritzy styling as you would expect from an upscale design furniture store. So, I took a few pictures and I will use these to find similar items add to another store. Little does the sales people know that I probably could've afforded to spend quite a bit of money in their store had they paid me a little more attention. read more

We purchased over $10,000 of furniture from Shubert's about 1 1/2 years ago. Part of the purchase was 4 Canadel bar stools -- which were roughly $800 EACH. The wood on one of the bar stools is cracked and coming apart. I have tried contacting Shubert's numerous time with NO response. The lack of response and service from Shubert's is really disappointing. I will start contacting the manufacturer direct, however, I had hoped for some assistance from Shubert's. I will never shop there again nor refer anyone to this store. I wish I had read some of the previous Yelp reviews prior to purchasing furniture from this store. read more

Just want to warn you that we purchased two chairs for $1000, within two months they both failed. I tried to find other furniture to buy at the store, could find nothing, asked for money back, no deal. Took them to small claims court, won, STILL trying to get my money back two years later!!! They carry quality merchandise and have a wide selection from which to choose whether you prefer traditional or contemporary or somewhere in between. Kirsten, the interior designer I've worked with, has done an excellent job helping me decorate two different rooms in my home. She takes a sincere interest in her customers and really seemed to understand what I wanted. read more

We love our Shubert furniture. We bought a total of 4 pieces from them over the past few months (couch, chair with ottoman and a set of arm chairs). The furniture is beautiful, comfortable, and seems very durable so far. We looked at many furniture stores and the quality was never as good as at Shubert. Hello: My experience is a little different. My wife bought 5 chairs back in Nov 2012. She is in charge of picking them up not me. This was her purchase. Saw the sign that Shubert was closing. Hmmm...I'd have to say the customer service here was a bit shoddy. I was browsing for at least five minutes and no one came to help. As soon as I walked in, I felt claustrophobic because everything is packed in so tightly and the ceilings are pretty low. If you have quite a bit of money to burn, though, you might like this place. There was a stunning entertainment center for $11,000+ and a few other notable pieces, but most of the furniture felt overdone and fussy...and certainly overpriced! read more

Warning: Rented a home through a company owned by Shubert Design, A.K.A SAL, LLC, this comany neglected to advise me of the conditions of the home. This home had a bad pest infestation and was infested with MOLD. On top of that they intentionally painted over mold and bug frass to defraud tenant, thus breaching contract. I wasnt aware of the MOLD until we were hospitalized a month and a half after being there. they had test done and never gave me results. It wasn't until I had my own housing inspection completed we found the home should have never been RENTED/WASNT SAFE and they never called to apologized. The home was deemed unfit for human habitation, we were able to to get out of our lease, shortly after returning keys on NOV. 1, 2017 the home was up for rent on many sites days later. SCAM... I initially rented from this company because of the work they did for VETERANS, but now I see it was all a cover. Beware of this company! Be safe... God Bless read more

Promises are made and not kept. Owner refused to refund delivery charge. If you are looking to do business with Shubert Design, think again, and research their reputation thoroughly. Extremely poor after sale service!!! No customer loyalty,regardless of the $$$$$ you spend. Once the furniture is delivered they will wash their hands off you. Having worked with others such as Ethan Allan, Decor and Dau furniture in town, their unprofessionalism really stands out. We purchased over $50K in furniture from Shubert 5 years ago and were not advised to invest in clamps for our 5 piece sectional which incidently come standard at the other furniture stores. Having installed wood floors recently we were advised to look for clamps so the pieces would not slide around. I had the misfortune of working with Linda Shubert who ordered the clamps for us at an additional charge and refused to install them later as the couch was out of warranty. We offered to pay the installation charge for one of there warehouse crew, but she flat out refused and said they will need to put us in touch with an upholstery compnay. The very first Company she gave us did not do this kind of work and were surprised that Linda had passed on their name. After several weeks of back and forth - more wasted time, we have yet to hear back from Linda shubert about a solution. Fortunately, I talked to one of the other furniture stores and they have graciously provided their warhouse staff to install the clamps for $75. It took all of 15 minutes to work this out. Please do your homework well so you have no regrets later. We will be staying far far away from Shubert Design and their arrogance. read more

I even fly in from Texas because I know the quality and the price is going to be exceptional. I'm sorry that so many others have had a bad experience. She was extremely patient, considered all the options with me and any questions she could not answer, she contacted the factory to find answers. Her follow through was also great throughout the process and her design advice was spot on. I found Shubert's prices to be very fair and reasonable. I went there today 12/30/13 looking for a few pieces for my living room. Whether or not the furniture was what I was looking for, I walked the entire store and past the sales desk, with at least three sales women and not one of them acknowledged me. Not even eye contact. I am a professional, was coming from work and was dressed professionally (not that it should matter). The ladies are snooty but they really have no reason to be snotty- they're a bit haggard and look like life hasn't been kind to them. I saw a couple of pieces that I liked but it's clear no one there wants to do business with me so I will take a pass on doing business here. Sorry Shuberts. read more

I was looking for a new sectional and some outdoor furniture for our lake house and I came across the reviews for Shubert. I was wondering if this was the same store I had shopped at before? We went to Shubert and picked out a sectional and some outdoor furniture for the deck at our lake house. Couldn't be happier with our selection. We got a great value on our purchase. As for some of the other reviews, is the store over crowded? Yes, there is way to much furniture in the store. As far is problems with sales people? Didn't have any. This is not the first time I have purchased from Shubert. I have purchased several pieces over the last 20 years. I have a Hickory Chair sofa and loveseat and leather recliner that is about 15 years old and still looks great. Does the furniture at Shubert cost more than other stores? In most cases yes. But you wont find this quality at stores that are only open on the weekend. read more
