Rude customer service. I have lived in Wildwood for four years now and finally made it into the shop. My husband and I stopped in to look at Christmas decorations, we were never greeted or acknowledged by the sales staff. We walked around and were unable to find what we were looking for. But I did see some beautiful candles. So I added them to my Christmas wishlist for my husband to purchase..... Big mistake. He also didn't receive any help, but spent $350 on candles. Wrapped them up, unfortunately they were a mixture of plastic and wax candles (the boxes look identical). I went into the shop to see if I could exchange them to make them all match. My first question to the sales associate was if I could return or exchange the candles since my receipt said final sale. She immediately says yes only the Christmas is final sale. I am now excited that I can get what I really wanted, so I am looking over at the different sizes when the young lady came and told me that since it had been xx days I couldn't return it. My husband purchased them on Black Friday, I received them on Christmas and I was at the shop on Dec 28th. This is when the manager came over and starts to get aggressive with me for no reason, she wouldn't listen or let me talk just said stated no returns it's posted everywhere. I have never had a manager be so rude, I wasn't asking for money back and I acknowledged the return policy when I entered the store. Three French Hens has some beautiful merchandise, but terrible customer service. I will never shop here again. read more

If you need special, cut above holiday decor items, gift items, stand out made in America furniture, this is your go to place. Don't expect bargain prices, expect special items that stand out among the rest. In times right now where so many places have no customer service, this is not one of them. Fully staffed, friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile for their shoppers. Definitely worth the drive for this special store. Three French Hens is located in a cute little cottage in West St. Louis County and features European inspired home decor. You have to really be looking for the building or you'll drive right past it. Firstly, understand that there is the Manchester Road we all know. As you drive further West into Grover/Wildwood, it becomes highway 100 and a new Manchester Road pops up at a stop light that you must turn South onto. Watch the road signs! I had heard the commercials on the radio and had seen their ads on tv, so I finally checked their website to get the address and then checked them out on Friday. The website says that you'll be offered complimentary coffee upon entering, but I had to ask for mine. Perhaps it is because I'm young, but I was pretty much ignored while I was there. Older people or those dressed in expensive clothes were treated very warmly, and the workers seemed to know a lot of their customers personally. Now, I still give four out of five stars because of the fact that Three French Hens had gorgeous merchandise, tons of antiques and everything was set up really nicely. They had a real stuffed Grizzly Bear, antique oil paintings, little knick knacks and much more. The customers who were getting attention were very well taken care of. read more

For a couple of years I had known about 3 French Hens but had never put words to action as far as, "one of these days I'm gonna". It wasn't till 2 Christmases ago that that opportunity came, and upon entering the store I fell in love at first sight! After being in the store for just a short time, I was approached by one of the "Hens" who immediately took my scattered thoughts and made them whole by showing me a tangible reality of my ideas! It wasn't long before I felt like family and was taking their decorating classes monthly. No matter what my decorating block is they solve it in record time! Between the custom chairs they have designed for me, the staging ideas they've helped me with, right down to the smallest detail...my house is warm 'n inviting, simple yet elegant, and absolutely beautiful because of them! My only regret is that I did not discover them sooner! read more

Prices range from extremely reasonable to those items you'd save up for. The quality is exceptional. The staff are also helpful with suggestions if you need them. This is a breath-taking store with highly well-appointed displays of furniture, knick-knacks (some of the rustic Americana style, some more stylized and upscale, and everything in between), sofa pillows, throws and other blankets, beautifuly framed paintings, framed prints, picture frames, dried arrangements, vases, candles, candleholders, jewelry, scarves and seasonal items. And probably much more I don't remember. Today, huge pumpkins (papier-mache??) and Halloween glitz decocated the front porch. It was quite inviting. When my friend and I entered, we were both welcomed and offered a beverage (latte or cappuccino), plus there was a carafe of lemonade with cups just inside the door. There's a lot to see in here . . . and a lot you could miss -- wonderful treasures disarmingly displayed as you might display a hutch in your dining room or a cozy wooden table for four in your kitchen. So accessories are everywhere! There were lots of little (and bigger) plaques everywhere . . . about golf, fishing, family and assorted topics. There isn't a "plaque" department -- they're just everywhere, so you could be surprised at the turn of a corner. I don't know where they get their furniture and all the other items they have, but I've never seen the likes of most of these things . . . the craftsmanship, the uniqueness, the originality! A lot of the furniture pieces are quite large, so you'd need plenty of space in your room, and know the measurements you can accommodate. I don't believe I looked at one price tag . . . . except the gorgeous antique dining room hutch, which was in the $2,400-$2,900 range, and you'd need 12-foot ceilings and at least a 20x20-foot room to display it properly, unless you have a massive foyer, and it would work there, too. But I didn't buy anything either . . . just enjoyed the ride while my friend bought some lovely home furnishings and a beautiful pair of snowflake holiday earrings that were maybe $7-$10. read more

We have bought many, many things from Three French Hens. From large expensive pieces of furniture to smaller accessories. We have been good and loyal customers. Our last experience in working with the owner, designing our living room, included purchasing a sofa. Because they didn't have floor samples of the sofa, with her help we custom designed the sofa. She continually promised if we didn't love it, she would replace it. On delivery day, which was at start of pandemic, we did not receive the sofa that we expected. We spent over 15K on living room furniture and accessories and the sofa was $5300. The cushions were very poor quality and she promised to replace. It was very uncomfortable and no one would sit on it. She has put us off for 14 months and nothing has been done. We finally had cushions replaced and reupholstered. She did not keep her word and we are spreading the word! read more

It's a great place to get ideas and pick up a few must haves with items as low as $1.99 and as high as several thousand. Custom made faux floral arrangements as well as stems/bundles/bunches (better than those you'd find at a craft store) for using as you wish. I'm a last minute Christmas shopper and went in to find something for my mom. Not 1 employee could say "hello" to me! I bought 3 things and even the lady at the register was rude. No hello or anything. Wow! Are these women that stuck on themselves they can't even say HELLO? God forbid they ask Can I help you find something? No Merry Christmas...Happy Holidays...Nothing!!! I suggest finding some new help! What a disappointment! When I come in with my mom they bend over backwards. I would have purchased so much more, but bad service speaks volumes. Terrible customer service. Interested in purchasing Mackenzie Childs to add to my collection, but everyone was too busy to wait on customers. Check out person rude and lacking basic customer service skills. Well not shopping there and supporting a business that doesn't put customers first. I have spent over 30,000 over the past year in this store. They sold me a scratched table. Was told they would make it right, they charged my credit card without my permission and now will not take care of the table situation. They refused to walk through a receipt with me that had over 50 items on it so I could understand what I was paying for. I caught where I was double charged for a $480 floral arrangement. Once they get your money they are done with you she don't care if it's damaged, they don't care if the charges are wrong and they talk badly about customers, other staff members the owner. It's not a business it's a gossip center. They have nice things but the way they treat people is unbelievable. Be ware. They are nice to you until they get your money they they refuse to make things right if you have an issue. Do not do business with them. read more

Short and sweet: If you believe in reasonably good customer service this ISN'T the shop for you. If you believe in excellent customer service don't even give this place a second thought. If you believe you're going to find furniture at a fair price, drive right on by this shop because even during sales their items are over priced. However, If you believe in being ignored, while the sales people chat-it-up with their friends while you stand and wait around for their conversation to end so that you can get information on a couch, side chair, and a coffee table that you might be interested in purchasing, then this is your kinda place. I live down the street and often go there to look for room sprays and candles. I find it appalling the women who greet you when you come in are so selective. They're never friendly and whip past you without saving excuse me. I dropped 250$$ (that's two hundred and fifty dollars) on a frame I just had to have and the cashier didn't speak a word to me she was talking to the lady behind her. I went in last week to look for a farm table no one spoke to me or my husband and as we were looking at the room scents up front another couple walked in 30 seconds after we did. Not only was that couple greeted they were offered a cappuccino. I looked at my husband and said GEE I WISH THEY WOULD'VE OFFERED ME ONE. They are so rude there you couldn't pay me to go back. If you give great customer service I'll tell a friend. Treat me like you're better than me with no customer service I'll tell everyone. read more

If you've got the time to weed through a lot of over-priced stuff that screams "rich owners whose tastes border on too-too" you will find the occasional rare find here. And their floral department, while expensive, is top-notch (but do your own designs, theirs are overdone.) But beware the ATTITUDE. This was my third time there in two years. This is a lovely store and I believe there is something for everyone. Yes, there are pieces of furniture that are higher priced but the quality is there and as I have learned... you usually get what you pay for. There are also a lot of other things for those perhaps a little more budget minded. As far as the review about being ignored. I have never had this experience. I happen to work close to the store so I stop in sometimes during lunch or right after work to see what is new. I have always been offered a beverage when I entered and usually asked at least once if there was anything they could help with. Let me assure you I am a single Mother with a tight budget so you can tell by the car I drive and the clothes that I wear that I am probably not going to buy the most expensive thing in there... but even the owner herself has greeted me so I think that alone speaks volumes about the person she is and the business she is running. I have picked up various small gifts for others and even a few things for myself. I am not their best customer by a stretch but I am glad that they do have those out there so I can continue to enjoy the store and take home a few small treasures on occasion. The store is lovely with unique items not found elsewhere in the city. BEWARE though of the VERY stringent return policy which is strictly enforced and not posted in the store. It is however printed on your receipt, which for furniture, is too late. I recently purchased a small piece of furniture. Before I could even get back to the store with a vehicle in which to take it home, I had a change of heart. When I called the store I was told I could not return the piece even though I had not even taken possession of it. I suggested to the owner that it would be nice to have seen the return policy posted or have had the clerk ask me if I was aware of their policy. At that point she named other large furniture stores in the area that do not take returns. (I have not yet fact checked this, but I would venture a guess that a no return policy is prominently displayed at those stores). She then said I was looking to put the responsibility on someone else. And then she proceeded to tell me to shop at Walmart if I want to return things. Yes, I wish I had asked their policy. But, I have shopped at many stores that ask if you are aware of their policy BEFORE taking payment. I know which of those stores will continue to get my business. read more
