It's been a little over a week since my review. I am extremely angry over this cut. He kept asking…read moreme - so all one length? And I kept saying no. At one point as I was standing in the middle of the salon, I told him no, no, no three times in a row and stared at him. I told him how long I wanted it, with the same cut, just tidying up the ends. My hair was about 1" below my rib cage, layered with lots of natural curl, and of course I have pictures. Now I have all one length, no layers, length is now at my armpit, and my natural curl is virtually gone I am absolutely livid. All these years growing out the length to show off my natural curls and it's all gone. Stay the hell away from this place. If you're the manager, you need to contact me now. The one star apparently is required, but not deserved.

I wasn't prepared for the unprofessional behaviour of staff, apathetic work of the stylist and attitude. Bringing new customers in the door of any business in this economy is a good thing... losing them is not. I won't return.

Her technique was able to enhance the spiralling of the curls without sacrificing volume. She also patiently told me how I can maintain the look between cuts. I'm glad I took a chance on her, and I will definitely be back anytime I need a trim. While I was quite attached to the stylists who had been cutting my hair in Los Angeles for many years, I am pleased to say that Margo is just as good as some of the top curly hair specialists in Southern California, if not better. I was in the Old Hat Hair Shoppe for the second time yesterday and I feel insulted and taken…read moreadvantage of - wow do they overcharge. I went in for a 6 wk follow up cut (called and booked a quick, dry trim), which typically takes a stylist less than 5 minutes of actual cutting time. I'm a cancer survivor and only have a small amount of hair left after treatment, it's short and fine so there's only so much you can do with it. I had washed it that am but wore a hat (it was cold out) so the stylist, Jordan shared it was important for it to be wet for the cut so I agreed but she did a quick shampoo which I didn't need and so I encouraged it to be quick, without conditioner etc. She cut it and blowdried it - the entire treatment was less than 20 minutes. Yet, I was charged a very high fee of $69 (not what I saw online or agreed to) plus tip, taxes so well over $100 for a simple dry cut - (only the back ends really needed to be cut anyway). Then I found out the product I had picked up was priced incorrectly so they charged me an extra 36 over the sticker price, and then added the tip percentage to the entire bill vs the cut fee - so an outrageous amount overall. They don't show you the prices or discuss this upfront, the stylist and receptionist had no idea how to provide an itemized receipt, they finally emailed me one after I called several hours later sharing I hadn't received one yet - and when I saw what I was charged, I was offended and feel very disrespected. I feel they went out of their way to upsell and overcharge. The salon is large, right on Pandora in a dynamite location and is beautifully decorated inside - so perhaps the overhead is high. So be careful: as someone who's in business for themselves, I pride myself on transparency and fairness. This business model I feel is placing profit over long term relationships. I feel price gouged and it was done in a very disrespectful and almost sneaky manner. I won't be back.
