Stayed here almost a Month !!!. The care was absolutely incredible! The Drs/specialists Dr. Levis, Dr. Sterling absolutely wonderful! They are very thorough, they make rounds genuinely care about their patients wholeheartedly!. The Chemo took effect immediately it's gonna be a journey !! But we'll take it!. The Staff omg Weinberg 5B Zofia, Jazmyn, Nick, Thyeresa from housekeeping maybe, Riley!, Kristina , were all extremely top tier pleasantly amazing they didn't mind at all , very engaged in conversations everyday made us laugh and vice versa , announced themselves when entering to do vitals etc I mean Great Ppl , Great work! it was a great stay despite the circumstances. sometimes you get unruly incompassionate people . Michelle Weinberg building 5B lemme tell GOD SEND!... through my darkest moments there she helped me through!!, when I forgot my clothes to go to the hakerman building to shower she gave me a extra shirt she wore so I wouldn't be cold & put on a dirty shirt, took the shuttle since I couldn't see, walked me down to get pizza from Trattoria's!! and we talked everyday I was there being supportive of My Man so definitely keep her on she's for the people!!. Far as the Meals with your Entrèè they give 3 sides!!! which is wild esp if you're on a diet lol, and each Guest plate is $10.00. Go to Trattoria's Italian Pizzeria you get a Whole pizza for 5$. The Architecture is looove in the building I went to, to get the Pizza. Overall I wouldn't choose another Cancer treatment place!! JHU Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Canver center is absolutely Amazing the Chaplin Miriam Fairchild is amazing ! I mean you and the patient will be treated with LOOOVE, care and support here!. I will join the majority of negative reviews here. This place is an operational mess with no customer service. I ended up being booked for the wrong diagnosis. First they blamed me for booking the wrong on online when I had called. Then once they realized they had made the mistake, instead of apologizing and trying to rectify it, blamed me for THEM booking me the wrong thing. Will never go back. I can't imagine dealing with this level of callousness when dealing with a cancer treatment. read more

I haven't the heart to write more. If you or a loved one are battling cancer, believe me when I tell you there is no finer group of people. My friend spend the end of his final challenges with pancreatic cancer with the incredible team here. Following a surgery, they were closely monitoring him. They noticed tachycardia (elevated / rapid heartbeat) and near hyperpyrexia (extreme high fever normally at or above 106 F). These were early warning signs of sepsis, a dangerous and often life threatening systemic infection. It turns out Hopkins had recently enacted a novel algorithm to detect early signs of sepsis and it is, in fact, on the rotating screen savers of every workstation. An IV antibiotic was administered and my friend completely recovered from his nascent sepsis in the space of a day. That recovery has afforded over a month more time. At the end...every day...every hour is precious. Live. Be well. read more

I was blown away by how beautiful and modern the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center is compared to other cancer centers I've visited. I came for an early appointment to get my rare condition seen to by one of the renowned John Hopkins doctors From check in to the actual appointment time it was a breeze. The support staff are just so friendly and just make the whole process go smoothly. And when I actually saw my rare disease doctor, Dr Christian Meyer, I was blown away in how much time he spent going over my case in terms that was not too scientific but not too dumb down to insult my intelligence. In fact after this visit he just became one of my two favorite doctor at John Hopkins. The other one is my pulmonologist, Dr. Holden. They both spend an enormous amount of time explaining my condition and the proposed treatments moving forward. What was supposed to have been scary just became something that I now have hope that I can get back to a semblance of a normal life. And more importantly piece of mind for me and my family that no matter what, I am in good hands. read more

Beware and pick a different medical oncologist than Dr. Denmeade here!! Initial appt. was OK BUT I never received one thing he promised afterwards. From a clinical trial he had blood drawn for (Never heard yes I was in or a simple no) Also was promised a genetic test kit in the mail that could be helpful in the future. Nothing! 2 direct emails to Dr. Denmeade No Reply Calls leaving messages for his triage nurse No Reply So unprofessional and when you need help with Cancer the worst! Have 100% Insurance coverage and I have gone to a different hospital with great care. Good luck with your treatment and this is the 1st review I have ever posted! read more

Dr Ambinder has been my oncologist for more than 5 years. When I see him, he takes as long as needed to explain what is going on and present me with all options. The same goes with all staff I see. Of course since they are willing to spend all the time needed they may run late. All the staff are incredibly accommodating and friendly. Hopkins participants in many clinical trials so you are always getting cutting edge treatment. I live in Washington DC and am happy to make the trip to Baltimore to use Hopkins. I don't understand the negative reviews. I know two other people who have been for Sidney Kimmel and one to Hopkins in general and all have been very impressed with their treatment. read more

Just to be clear I am reviewing the center in Washington Twp, NJ As other have said before me and are correct avoid this place at all costs! They are so unorganized over there and you are just a number. My mother has lung cancer and her primary sent us there. Anyway the Dr's in there will give you one time frame for an appointment at the hospital for a scan or a port in your chest, etc. When you call to make an appointment it is completely different time frame. They don't even know who you are or why you are calling, so she could not even keep the follow up appointment. Before you know it a month goes by and nothing is accomplished. But when the Doctor gave my mom a prescription for pain and we went to get it filled the pharmacist said this is expired. We said no we just left there and here our Dr wrote the wrong month on the prescript. For pain meds you can't call it in so we would have had to go back to office. That was the last straw and we never went back. FYI we are now getting her care at Fox Chase and that place is amazing everything you will need for care is in one facility and they know who you are an they are expecting you every time. Avoid this place at all costs especially minorities. These people don't have a clue. Communication is non existent and you are a number. They just built a new state of the art building which has made things worse. You never see the oncologist but the CRNP who is regurgitating what the certified doctor oncologist is telling them. They do not closely monitor their patients. Their after hours and urgent care service is by far the worst. They are not well staffed. Nurses are leaving left and right. Morale is low among the workers. Don't be fooled by the name. You will become a number. read more

Our son received cancer care on the solid tumor unit. There was no communication between health care providers, the patient, or the family. Our loved one's condition was allowed to deteriorate without a warning or explanation all day to the patient or family from anyone. We spent some of the last hours of our son's life at home because no one felt it was their responsibility to inform the patient's family otherwise. The doctors covering the unit change every two weeks. Unless you are already their patient, they know nothing about you or your goals of care. Medical coverage at night is extremely poor. We requested over and over to see a doctor bedside, and the only one available was a an intern who had no oncology experience whatsoever, and she did not receive adequate supervision from the senior resident. It took the Oncology Fellow over two hours to respond, and that is too long to wait in a unit of very sick patients. There are NO attending physicians present in the unit for emergencies that happen at night. We chose SKCC because of its excellent reputation, and the Onocolgists there are excellent, but if you get sick and need to be hospitalized, you are risking below the standard of care here, mostly due to poor communication and the scarcity of competent physicians to care for you or your loved one at night. The communication issues here are so substandard that they can predicate a disaster waiting to happen, and for us it did happen. The hospital denied any responsibility, and they did not appear interested in preventing what happened to our loved one from happening to future patients. Don't let our story be your story. Go somewhere else. read more

What happened to this once good cancer center. They are now a bunch of disorganized rude unhelpful people. I was diagnosed with liver cancer and decided to talk to them. I called several times but they refused to talk to me or even answer basic questions. They kept insisting that i fax all medical records before anyone would talk to me. I gave them all my personal info for their computers and even gave them the name of a Dr Laheru that someone had recommended. The medical records were faxed on 12/6, they said they would review them and a nurse would call me in 5-7 business days and to wait for that call. Well I finally received a call back from Tammy on 1/14 saying that they received my medical records and were awaiting additional records and to call her back. Well no one ever asked me for additional records and I don't know what additional records they wanted. And Tammy was from another cancer department other than liver cancer??? I called her back and left a comprehensive message telling her i was liver cancer, as she obviously could not read medical reports. I'm still waiting a call back from the correct cancer department. Luckily i also was meeting with two better cancer centers in DC And had a successful surgery on 1/21. I f i had waited for JHU I might be dead now. Don't they understand the importance of quick treatment with cancer? This wasn't a hangnail. Stay away from them, they have gone downhill. read more
