I can say without hesitation that Ronda's gym is by far the absolute best place for traditional, fundamental BJJ. Having known Ronda for over ten years, I've always admired her integrity, character, and dedication. She brings that exact same standard to her coaching. Her deep focus on core mechanics and solid fundamentals gives every student, from total beginners to upper belts, a foundation that actually holds up. Beyond the high-level technique, Ronda has built an incredible gym culture. It's welcoming, free of ego, and respectful. You're pushed to grow in a safe, supportive environment where everyone looks out for one another. If you want authentic, fundamental BJJ in a gym with real heart and community, Ronda's place is second to none. Highly recommended!

What really sets this place apart is the peace of mind they provide. All of the coaches are not only superiorly well-trained but also background checked, which is so important when they are working with minors. The owner and his wife have created such a welcoming environment, and their dedication--along with the patience of all the instructors--is truly remarkable. Whether you want your child to learn practical self-defense or develop a lifetime of physical discipline, this is the spot. They even offer a free trial class so you can see the quality for yourself before committing. Plus, their membership options are super flexible, giving you the choice to go with or without a contract depending on what works best for your family, they also offer unlimited classes ALL week! Both my kids train, and now they even got my husband and I training. Originally we signed my son up because he was getting bullied really bad at school, he desperately needed to build his confidence. Odin's has been a saving grace for him and helped him to better handle situations on and off the mat. It's helped him regulate his emotions better, and he has something he LOVES doing and is fantastic at. Now he's competing! The coaches are amazing with kids, they just have a special way of teaching their art and these kids are complete beasts. The people here are awesome and we've made life long friends, all around an amazing place to be. I never thought I'd be doing jiujitsu, the instruction is top notch and the coaches make us feel very comfortable! We love this place! Highly recommend.

I'm writing this to inform other parents about our experience at Odin's Halls BJJ…read more My seven year old son trained there for four months. When we signed the 12-month contract, I specifically asked what would happen if he lost interest. At his age, that's always a possibility. We were told by one of the coaches that early cancellation would result in a one- to two-month penalty. Based on that representation, we signed. After four months, we decided to withdraw him because we were not satisfied with the quality of his training. When I informed the school and the owner, Steve, that we intended to cancel, I was told we would have to pay half of the remaining contract balance. That was not clearly stated in the agreement as we understood it, nor was it what we were told at enrollment. When I raised this discrepancy, Steve stated the coach had been "misinformed" and "misspoke." After I remained firm on canceling, communication stopped. That raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability. The more troubling issue happened later at a NAGA tournament. After leaving Odin's Hall, there was a break in my son's training while we searched for a new academy. He then joined Cobrinha and registered for the novice, no-submission division (white belt, six months and under training). At the tournament, we were informed that a coach from Odin's Hall contacted the organization claiming my son should be bumped up to the beginner division (with submissions) because he had trained over six months at their gym and had prior wrestling experience. This was inaccurate. * He trained at Odin's Hall for four months. * We had email documentation confirming the cancellation timeline. * There was a gap in training before he joined his new academy. * The brief wrestling class he attended was actually a requirement at Odin's Hall for their competition team -- and all of their students participate in wrestling. What shocked me most was the attempt to move a seven-year-old into a submission division when they knew they had never taught him submissions. This tournament division was specifically six months and under, novice, no-submission for safety reasons. Moving him up would have exposed him to techniques he had not been trained to defend against. As a parent, that is extremely concerning. Youth martial arts programs should prioritize child safety and development above rivalry or competitive positioning.

After I left, I realized I had never been sent copies of anything I signed, but I wasn't immediately concerned because my first training session was scheduled for Friday at 12 PM. Then, at 11:27 AM on Friday--less than an hour before my scheduled session--I received a text saying my training appointment was canceled and asking me to reschedule. I asked if I could come in Saturday instead, but I was told I had to wait until Monday. At that point, I brought up the fact that I had never received any of my membership or training documents. I was told they would send them, but they didn't. I reached out again the following day, and they eventually discovered that they had entered my email address incorrectly when I signed up. Apparently, that was why I never received anything. The problem is, no one ever showed me the information to confirm that my email address was correct when I signed up, and even after I provided the correct email address, they still failed to properly update it and send me the documents. At this point, I asked to cancel my membership and receive a refund. My first training session had already been canceled, I had never received the documents I was supposed to receive, and the entire experience had already become frustrating and inconvenient. I was told I could cancel, but I could not receive a refund because of a three-day cancellation clause. How exactly was I supposed to know about a three-day clause when I was never provided the documents explaining the terms of my membership? Even after I corrected my email address, they still did not send me the documents. I then called and spoke with a cancellation manager named Brianna Olsen. She told me that a general manager would assist me or that she would escalate the situation. After that, I was essentially ignored for days. I had asked to cancel my membership at least FOUR times, and despite all of this, they charged my card AGAIN after I had already repeatedly requested cancellation. I was also told that a general manager would contact me. No one did. Then, yesterday, I received an email from the general manager asking if I was interested in discounted training sessions. I explained the entire situation and everything that had happened. His only response was, in all capital letters, "YOUR MEMBERSHIP HAS BEEN CANCELED." That was it. This is honestly the worst gym and company experience I have ever had. The communication is terrible, the organization is terrible, and getting a simple cancellation handled has been unnecessarily difficult. I also work somewhere where I come into contact with a lot of people who are members of this gym, and I have heard similar complaints. What's even more concerning is that one of their own trainers has told me they are experiencing problems because they are losing students due to the gym not operating properly. Save your money and go somewhere else. I have spent way too much time trying to get this resolved, and as of now, I STILL have not received my refund.

This self-defense class took place at 9th Isle BJJ (stands for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), which is close to North Las Vegas airport. I live in Henderson, so this martial arts studio was a bit of a drive from my house, but it was worth it! I was required to sign three different waiver forms that were emailed to me before participating. This place is in a complex that's mostly office space, but otherwise it's very easy to find off the main road. The inside is literally a warehouse, so while it was a little chilly when I first entered, I didn't feel chilly anymore once I started moving around. We were instructed by Professor Junebug (?), who owns 9th Isle BJJ with his wife. While I did have fun and got a nice workout in, at the same time it was a little difficult than the last self-defense class I went to, because most of the moves had so many steps to them and it was hard to process all of them at the same time. Three other instructors who worked there helped everyone guide us step by step and correct our moves if possible. Everybody there was very friendly and helpful and they all motivated me to continue taking self-defense classes in the future.
