Pretty friendly staff, always answering any question that I had, and any maintenance needed was done quickly.

Hello Leota! Thank you for your question. We do not have garages at our community, however we do have ample parking available on site. Each resident gets one assigned parking spot under a carport, and we have uncovered parking that is available for…

We relocated to this area from Texas and I have been disappointed, to say the least, in the quality…read morethey are offering for the price we pay. Our apartment was infested by roaches before we moved in. Since I've never had roaches I thought it was an easy fix they could do in one day. I WAS WRONG!!!! Although the staff has continued to help with the problem they should have NEVER leased this roach infested unit (among many other problems this unit has had that should have been fixed before leasing!!!). I have been here for half a month and have still been unable to unpack because they have to fumigate or spray and I do not want my property contaminated with pesticides. Also, the roaches are now upstairs and might even be in my belongings which is disgusting! I would have expected them to offer me to move to another unit knowing how gross and how hard it is to get rid of roaches (my research tells me this is a HUGE problem to solve). I'm at the point of asking for my deposit and a refund so I can move out and find a livable place and possibly even reporting them! If they fumigate I have to pack my stuff as if I'm moving, I might as well! The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because the staff really is AMAZING! I hate that their property doesn't match them! It's sad. I really like this location but no one should have to share their living space with disgusting roaches! I can't even sleep wondering if the roaches that have found their way to my bedroom ceilings will fall on us while we sleep. I'm driving my husband crazy telling him to kill them and I've become super anxious! Unfortunately I would not currently recommend this place. I'm sorry management team, although your awesome, this apartment needed a lot of help and is still a work in progress. I have to edit my review to include the fact that this is a new management company and they are working really hard to pick this place up. They really are amazing!!! I have to increase my stars to three due to that fact that they really do care about fixing the issues. I let them know the roaches were back and they got on the problem right away. I really do want to like this place and I hope this gets taken care of fast....although I shouldn't have to deal with this I'm going to be reasonable and allow them the opportunity to fix it...I hope this doesn't end up costing me more in the end...

The workers here are completely useless and lazy. When I call for an update on my move-in date,…read morethey never answer. One time i called outside the office so that i could test and see for myself if they really are busy like they say they are, and when no one answered, i went inside the office just to see the workers sitting on their ass doing nothing! Mind you, my family and i are completely homeless right now, hoping and praying that we can get the official move-in date, BUT THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THEIR JOB!

Pros: Great people. Excellent facility. Surprisingly good food…read more Cons: None The twilight of life is often not an easy time. In late April 2018, my wife and I moved from Silicon Valley which we called home for more than 35 years to Nipomo, about 210 miles to the south. My mother relocated from Pennsylvania to San Jose in February 2015 and took up residence in a nice retirement facility (part of the Brookdale group). When we moved, there was little choice for her but to go with us. The Central Coast of California between San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria is a remarkably happy place. The weather is tough to beat. Vineyards cover many of the hills. The Pacific Ocean is never far away. People seem to be content...whether fellow shoppers in the stores, neighbors or drivers(!). Still, finding the appropriate place for an aging parent is not a simple job. If moving is one of life's toughest jobs for a person in good health and sound mind, it's a treacherous task for a 90 year old with many ailments, both real and imagined. A few minutes after arriving at Merrill Gardens, my wife and I turned to each other and said "this is it". My mother moved there 3 weeks after we settled into our new home. Any transition is hard, especially for an elderly person who established a life in one city and didn't really want to try it again in another. She only lived 5 weeks in Merrill Gardens before succumbing to a variety of medical issues, but the staff and people in that residence made our lives as sweet as possible, both before and after her passing. - Location: Convenient. Merrill Gardens is in the northern part of Santa Maria, about 3 minutes east of Highway 101 off the Donovan Road exit. - Exterior: Very attractive. There are 2 large 3 story buildings...one built in the early 2000s and the other around 2010 (I believe)...plus a circle of cottages to the north and east. Attention has obviously been given to the landscaping which gives the complex a residential appeal. You might say it's the nicest part of the neighborhood. - Interior (of the newer building where my mother lived): Bright and cheerful. The receptionist and concierge are just inside the entrance with a "great room" to the left. It's warm, colorful and cozy. The initial feeling you get is "they take care of things at this place". The dining room remains open from early morning to late evening since Merrill Gardens has a policy of "anytime dining". It's large and airy with tables spaced far enough apart to permit privacy yet allow conversation among friends. The hallways are more spacious and inviting than at similar facilities. There are several rooms for meetings and movies, the largest library I've seen in such places and a very active pool table nearby. - Apartments: Generous. My mother had a one bedroom unit on the 2nd floor with about 600 square feet plus a balcony of 100 square feet. When she arrived, there had only been one occupant since the facility opened. It was cleaned and painted with a bigger kitchen than she had in San Jose...including a large refrigerator, microwave and stove. Maybe not all the amenities of a real home (such as a lack of good storage), but not too shabby either. - Dining: Really good. My mother was a picky eater, but definitely enjoyed her meals at Merrill Gardens. While we were sometimes dragged to dinner in San Jose, we went willingly here. The food was tasty and the servers friendly and patient. - Senior Staff: The best. We can't say enough good things about the Chief Executive, Audie Sherberg and Community Managers Kim Adams and Gary Gross, but I'll try. Kind, accommodating, informative and willing to listen to a family's tales of woe. It was like having friends on the inside. The receptionists were always helpful, especially Barbara during the week. - Caretakers and Other Staff: More of the best. Kind, supportive and patient. They're not the most highly paid, but their jobs are tough. - Other Residents: Very friendly. It's as if the happy atmosphere of the Central Coast extended to the residents. Older age did not deter these people from smiling. - Cost: Reasonable. We paid $3,250/month for the one bedroom apartment which was roughly the same as in San Jose, but for a nicer facility. However, it can get expensive if you need ancillary services, including management of medicines and specialized care. NOTE: The initial "community fee" of $4,000 covers the facility's move-in costs. If your family member leaves within the first 4 months, you'll get a pro-rated amount back. Mr. Sherberg was very helpful in getting us the largest possible refund. - Value: Excellent. The best money spent in quite a while. I hesitated writing this review for a few months after my mother's death because I wanted to make sure the long process ended as well as it began. It did. There are no "ifs, ands or buts" to the 5 stars awarded to Merrill Gardens in Santa Maria.

Cockroaches in our beds, in our fridge, washer/dryer, all over our shower towels, everywhere, etc. We have tried so many times to communicate in a professional manner with Azure manager (Sammy Sotoa) but he refuses to give us financial compensation to either: pay for rent until the cockroach infection is gone, or pay for a hotel. He states he doesn't have enough money in his budget, which clearly is not correct since this is a nationwide, highly successful company. (In fact they said they would pay for rent for the next month, then took this statement back.) I would be very wary about moving here. Oh and there are regular gunshots heard + drug deals we see during the night.

I lived at Azure Apartments for less than two years, and it was by far the worst rental experience…read moreI've ever had. In my opinion, this property is completely neglected, and I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before renting here. My apartment was directly in front of the dog park, and there was dog waste everywhere--not just inside the park but throughout the surrounding area. The trash enclosure was constantly filthy. I complained to management numerous times, but I never saw any meaningful improvement. On one occasion, I witnessed someone defecating near the trash area. On another, I saw people digging through the garbage bins. It was unacceptable. The management was, in my experience, the biggest problem. They simply did not seem to care about residents' concerns. Every complaint was met with promises but very little action. One of the most disgusting experiences happened when maintenance came to fix my garbage disposal. The technician used my bathroom and left urine all over the toilet. I couldn't believe it. Police were regularly on the property, and vandalism seemed to be a recurring issue. The resident living above me made excessive noise throughout the night for months. I repeatedly reported it to both management and the police. I even provided management with police reports documenting the problem. Despite complaining for over six months, nothing was done. I was repeatedly told by the manager, Jacqueline, that "this is the process." Eventually, I had no choice but to break my lease because the situation had become unbearable. The move-out process was just as disappointing. I scheduled an in-person walkthrough, thoroughly cleaned the apartment, and made sure it was in excellent condition. On the day of the walkthrough, no one from management showed up. Weeks later, I received my security deposit statement and was shocked to see charges for cleaning and partial repainting. I had only hung four pictures on the walls and left the apartment in very good condition. After renting for over 25 years, this is the first time I have ever been charged for cleaning or painting. To make matters worse, the letter threatened that if I did not pay the remaining balance, they would send it to collections and I would be responsible for attorney's fees. That was the final insult after everything I had already experienced. This was, without question, the worst apartment community I have ever lived in. Between the lack of cleanliness, poor maintenance, ongoing safety concerns, management's complete lack of responsiveness, and what I believe were unfair move-out charges, I cannot recommend Azure Apartments to anyone. Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else.

Current manager female, has control issues and has no idea how to talk to the tenants and comes off really rude. We are tenants since this place was opened. Why you should AVOID this place: - High monthly payments for low quality equipment. Meaning that you can expect the handles from the appliance to fall off in a few months. - They charge for anything! Parking.. there's a two car garage but they also charge $100 for parking in the parking lot. $100 MONTHLY! It would make sense for a one-time payment but this is more expensive than a parking meter. You can obviously tell nobody pays for this that's why it looks like a desert when you come and visit. The only time people will buy is when you have a truck that doesn't fit in the garage (sucks for you!). If you park here you'll get a sticker and you will get towed! - They charge extra fee's being close to the amenities. $50 MONTHLY. Due to covid they keep the pool "OPEN" but it's actually closed. I'm guessing since they have rounds of viewing they pretend it's all nice. - They don't restock the poop bags for dogs.. it'll be once in a blue moon, if ever? - Cops are called every weekend - Obnoxious neighbors that rev up their engines - Maintenance doesn't fix what they promised they'd do! We've had broken things falling apart after living here from wear and tear and they noted to fix it but they haven't come in a while What's good about this place: - It's next to everything
