All the paint in the world can't change the fact that the building needs to go like so many others on Soledad st already have. Bottom line, don't live here unless it's the option you got left. Not a safe block of town. Hasn't been for years.

The establishment was founded on saving souls for Christ by bringing them in to an evening church…read moreservice. This was done through the bait & hook of a Gospel message then providing a meal, shower and a bed for the night. Now it seems through county, city and other government agencies that these people don't need the Word of God and that the VM should just give out, as an entitlement, the resources to anyone coming to the VM. Considering that these agencies don't really support the VM, in any physical or financial services, what gives them the right to demand how the VM runs their house? These agencies make it difficult enough for the homeless, especially females, and if the Word of encouragement helps them to be better people then who is anyone to put a stop to it? Seriously, how many shelters are there for women and children compared to shelters for men? I have personally witnessed changed lives through the VM. If anything... We as a community should invest and provide for a modern, up to date, facility for men, women and children. A lighthouse of hope.

I tried to follow up but nobody could give me an update. They also said they'd connect me to an agency that would help me during this process. They didn't help Finally, life moves called me 2 weeks after my first contact. I only had 10 days and they knew that By a miracle, I was able to secure housing. It's frightening to go through this kind of thing. I hope others have better luck than I did going forward.

I figured it's not the time to do that due to this global outbreak so instead I had to get creative and figure out how I can help the community w/o causing a tremendous strain to my already busy schedule. I called and was thrilled they are able to accept prepared meals. I explained that I would cook everything the day of and deliver it w/in 2hrs. I did this in between emails, meetings, and reports but somehow got it done. This was 27 meals and a box of individually wrapped masks donated to this organization. I am so grateful that I am in the position to still be able to help. I also will never forget the times I didn't even have $12 for a pair of shoes for my son (Walmart). Whatever we went through.. it just made me want to help even more. Thank you for accepting this donation!
