Both times I've been in this store I've had bad interactions with the employees. First time: kid tried to sign me up for a credit card deceptively at the register. Said I'd get a discount if I put down some information, and I had to stop him once he got to my SSN. Second time: Some lady yelled at me cause I went into an (open) area that was near a construction zone. Was super unfriendly and when I said I was looking for a bathroom she answered with tons of attitude saying there's no bathrooms open. I cannot recommend shopping here. It's poor service and you'd be better off just finding their stuff for cheaper on Amazon. read more

I stopped into Sierra in Fort Collins and it's a really interesting alternative to stores like REI or Dick's Sporting Goods. The big difference is that Sierra works on an off-price model, similar to TJ Maxx, which means they buy overstock and past-season gear from major outdoor brands and sell it at significant discounts. Because of that, you can sometimes find the same brands you'd see at REI such as The North Face, Smartwool, Fjällräven, Carhartt, and other outdoor favorites, but at much lower prices. The inventory changes constantly, so the store has more of a "treasure hunt" feeling rather than the predictable layout you get at traditional sporting goods stores. Fort Collins is the perfect place for a store like this since the whole town revolves around hiking, running, skiing, and outdoor life, and Sierra offers a great way to find quality gear without paying full retail. read more

Have been in on several occasions to find various outdoor gear.... hiking boots, backpacking food, stuff for a canoe trip in Minnesota, camping. Whenever I have been in,I have managed to find what we have been looking for. My son who is 6 foot 7 has also managed to find clothes and outdoor gear there as well. Sometimes with his height finding clothing can be tough and generally we end up ordering online. Tonight i was in looking for hiking boots. Mine have sadly fallen apart after over 600 miles put on them this year. The staff was willing to help me find what i was looking for and to try to answer my many questions. The store seems large. It has always been clean when i have gone in. The staff is always friendly. If you can't find exactly what you want in the store you can order online and have it shipped to the store and it will be free shipping. They were out of hiking bladders tonight, so ordered the bladder online and had it shipped to the store. Some pretty good sales happening on bladders right now online too. It's always been a pleasant experience coming in. Still a little pricey on some things hence the 4 star review. But overall highly recommended read more

I'm a Sierra Trading fan. This store usually seems to have a better selection than any store in the Denver area. The trip up is worth it. The floor staff was helpful, and the cashier was nice and helpful. We found a few brand name items at a significant discount. We found two winter jackets priced at about $600 retail for $50 on clearance. Sierra Trading is so worth the visit. I'm up to skipping the stores in Denver and drive up I25 for an hour to shop in this store. read more

Mona the apparel manager was insanely rude. I was talking with a cashier about exchanging an item that ripped the first time I wore it and she was extremely understanding. Then Mona swooped in and immediately shut me down said nope and talked to me like like I was a child. She said I shouldn't be returning something I've worn and washed and worn and washed and I said I got it for my birthday wore it once and it ripped and she basically laughed in my face. She then proceeded to count on her fingers at me how long it's been since they had that jacket in stock. Which was literally Christmas time not the dramatic amount of months she counted too. How insanely unprofessional and demeaning. I was a retail manager for years and I would fire any of my employees who talked to a customer that way. Now I'm stuck with a jacket that is ripped, which she also had the audacity to say I can probably go pay to have it fixed. Just completely ridiculous. I plan to report her to corporate as well but she should be written up in her at the least. The annoying part too is if she had just said sorry we can't do anything I would have said ok that's fine I geg it like I said I worked in retail as a manager for literally 10 years and people try to return the most insane things but she immediately jumped down my throat before she even knew the situation. Nice, clean store. I've seen their catalogs for years but frankly didn't even know they had stores until recently. We happened to be in Ft Collins, so popped in 30 minutes before closing. I was surprised by how large it was, but reading other reviews, this store is apparently small for STP...? We found it to be clean and the staff to be super friendly. I was looking for something specific and they went out of their way to help me. In general, I didn't expect to see so much clothing and shoes; particularly so much street clothing, since I've always viewed STP as an outdoor gear and clothing store. Lots and lots and lots of fitness apparel, though. If you run and want a large selection of running tights, this is the place for sure! They had 3 long, discount-store type racks with nothing but running tights...and that was just in the women's section! The camping section is really small, which was disappointing since that's what we were the. In the end, I bought an Eno that was the same price at REI (where I would've gotten membership rewards)...but I needed it and I was there, so... B O T T O M L I N E : Sure, why not. I agree with the others. I used to love sierra, The store has gone downhill since the change in layout. Someone fouled this store up good. Layout makes no sense. Too many closeout racks. I am not even sure if the former crew is there. They used to have effective knowledgeable employees. There are some borderline rude front counter employees now. Good place to find some clothes or Winter gear at a discounted price. Place is clean and the staff is friendly. I always find a few things to purchase when I go there as they have socks to backpacks and everything in between to choose from. And to the cute blonde lady today who seemed to be in every isle I visited hi! Hope I see you again you reminded me of a modern Terri Garr with spandex that was on point. TJMaxx for outdoor types is the only way to describe this store. I had never heard of this store before we stopped in, but now I'll never forget it! They have an amazing array of brands and styles. Anything you could possibly need for your winter wardrobe can be found here. We bought my hubby a pair of Pikilinos boots that are usually $250 for only $70. I was promptly greeted by an employee when I walked into the store and he told me that if I found anything I liked, he would check if it was getting a markdown because he was working on marking a lot of items down at that moment. Store refuses to enforce mask mandate in the store, there were guests with no masks at all and I felt very unsafe. Absolutely unacceptable.

Long time STP fans and very stoked they are closer to us than Cheyenne! That being the case, we hope they open a "bargain barn" at some point like that store up north. Otherwise, great deals as usual here, and appreciate the well lit, clean, new digs. Not to mention the fitting rooms could house a small family. I use to love STP. Now they are owned by Tjmaxx and it has become a useless store. Employees are still friendly but they know nothing about outdoor clothing or gear. The store that was once full of great outdoor clothing and gear is now filled with useless home goods and everyday clothing. no more great email sale coupons. Upon walking in the store for the first time I was impressed.... they seemed to have good brands, at good prices. My daughter had clothes to try on.... when we walked into the dressing rooms the dressing rooms were dirty. Huge dust piles and trash all over. When I asked for a broom and the sales representative asked what was wrong I showed her and said really they should be ashamed... she responded, "well frankly we don't get get paid enough to care!" Yes another, millennial entitlement answer in my book. Whatever happened to the philosophy of taking pride in what you do? Or even going as far as making something better than when it started? The managers response wasn't much better. He said, "well we sweep them every morning at 7am... would you like me to sweep them? " So if they get dirty throughout the day, don't spend the 30 seconds to sweep them? Really it is not that hard! I used to love this place. I still love the deals online, but lately, when I go to the store I am treated less than nicely, twice by the same older woman. Today, I waited and waited to be taken care of at the pick up area. The employees were in a room about 15 feet from me and I stood right in front of them, only to be ignored. When someone finally came up, I understood her to say "Have you been helped?" and I replied, "No, and I have been waiting awhile." She then said very sarcastically, " I said, Do you NEED help?" I said, "Yes, I need help and I am not getting help!". She proceeded to defend the people in the back, saying they don't actually hire people to work in the pick up area?! That made no sense. All to say, I do like their products and sales, but their help is quickly going downhill. read more

We call the store to ask why and some guys says, "Come in... we will make it right." NOT. We get the run around. Customer service is everything when it comes to retail. I was amazed that this is the 2nd time I have been over looked as a customer visiting the Ft Collins location? I was in there to buy shoes. I happen to find 2 pairs that I was really interested in. Didn't have the exact size i was needing. Looked behind me. Realized there was an employee filling hooks with socks. Then two other employees came to talk to him about a matter not remotely job related. As i approached them. They started to scatter?? I thought that there concern for my needs wasn't even a priority for them. Went to another isle and 2 other employees walked by me as i was trying on more shoes. It's fair to say these employees were not in the shoe department. But acknowledgement, or asking if I was finding everything ok, or yes I will find an employee who can answer your questions would have been the thing to do! I thought about how this was the 2nd time being ignored as a customer. So the shoes I was planning on purchasing. I put down. And thought no need spending money on a store where it's employees ghost on it's own source of income! The irony was as I was walking out. A taller employee said hello. Where was this guy when I was looking to contribute to their stores sales? I ended walking around the corner to Browns Shoes. The experience was completely different. Sure they may work on a commission. But at least I felt loved! And importantly I found a great shoe. Expensive but one that was what I needed. I have been shopping online with Sierra Trading post since 1998. If I chose to support this retail company. It is with great probability I will be using their website instead. Stopped in here yesterday to check out the new store. Being a long time customer of the Cheyenne location this one seemed like a mini-store with not much selection. There were a few good deals I noticed but I left feeling pretty disappointed overall. REALLY good prices on hiking shoes. They had the same high quality brands as other comparable stores, but also a few unknown-to-me brands, and the prices were about 60-75% of standard. I got a great pair of hiking shoes for $99 (from a regular $175). A salesperson made some good recommendations and tips for hiking/approach shoes...I went with the shoes I was originally looking at, but he was knowledgeable about those shoes and others that he recommended. Great, quick, and easy shopping experience with attention when you need it, but freedom to shop without someone in your face when you don't. read more
