INCOMPETENT STAFF. Not sure about the surgeons, but the administration staff is extremely incompetent. My mother had an urgent referral from her nephrologist to put in a catheter so she can start dialysis. The admin (Devin) dragged out scheduling for 2 months, then scheduled out 2 months after that. I asked why it took so long and her response was that our primary insurance only covers that location and our secondary would only cover 20%. Seems like it makes sense, EXCEPT that she didn't call or actually find out any information about our insurances. Our primary insurance was actually what she thought was our secondary, and both insurances have very high coverage. The one she was talking about would cover 90% of surgery, and only has a $700 yearly deductible. Yet she talked about it like she was expert in it even when I started to question her about it. Then rather than working on fixing the problem and trying to find a facility where we can do the procedure sooner she kept arguing with me. Now my other might have to go to the emergency room to get the procedure done read more

Easter weekend, I ended up in the ER at Dignity Hospital, Folsom with what ended up being a very angry gallbladder. After being admitted, Dr. Jay Robertson came to my room for surgery consultation. He had a very welcoming bedside manner, explained exactly what needed to be done, and spent time listening and answering all my questions. Within a few hours, surgery was completed, and I was taken to my room. The care I received from him and all the staff was outstanding. Just had my post surgery follow up today at the office. Dr. Robertson explained pathology report, reiterated my continued lifting restrictions for the next couple weeks, and just could not have been more pleasant. Today I had my last post-operation checkup with Dr. Jay Robertson. The operation I needed was a life-saving operation for me. I had a severe stricture that needed to be removed. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate Dr. Robertson and his high level of professionalism and his extensive surgical knowledge. The surgery went great and I now feel like I can live again. Before the operation, Dr. Robertson put me at ease, and gave me all the information of what he was going to do to correct my problem. And he was kind enough to understand the worry I had, and took the time to patiently answer all of my questions. He was very informative and due to his reassurances I felt very confident that I would be fine. After the surgery, I followed all of Dr. Robertson's orders to the letter and I healed up very quickly. If you are someone who needs a surgical procedure, and Dr. Robertson is going to be your surgeon, just know you are in excellent hands. I found the Sierra Pacific office in Folsom to be of the highest caliber and the staff is professional and organized. Great experience every appointment with no problems or issues. Saw Doctor Jay Robertson for a hernia repair and gallbladder removal. Dr. Robertson went one step further and had a CT scan done in addition to the ultrasound my GP scheduled. The CT scan gave so much more information. He was very informative going into surgery and made the whole procedure much more bearable. read more

They performed my hernia surgery, which resulted in severe pain within a week. After complaining for a month, they told me I would need a second surgery to fix the first. The second surgery resulted in even more constant pain ( 8 to 10) 24 hours a day. After about 6 months they had said nothing about what was causing the pain, I complained. The next time I saw them, they said there was nothing further they could do and release me and sent me to a pain management company that was being investigated the state of CA for welfare fraud...the Dr's college buddy who had never treat my condition before. I had to go to Stanford for nerve reconstruction surgery to all four nerves but due to the major damage in multiple spots, they had to cut all four nerves. I found out latter it was from nerve entrapment from the first surgery and that they damaged all my nerves during the second. Had to have a spinal cord stimulator implanted to mask the pain and I can no longer work or have a normal life. Take it from me, it's NOT WORTH THE GAMGLE if you want to be pain free or work afterwards! They don't care about you...they just want your money. They're like a puppy mill...you get a good one once in a while. Do you want to risk it? I wish I didn't! read more

Dr. Robertson treated me in the hospital for an un-diagnosed infected gallbladder which caused me to become critically ill. It was necessary to get well enough at home before the gallbladder could be removed but then the covid epidemic prevented the surgery for 4 months. Throughout that time Dr Robertson gave us hope and a plan and kept our spirits up. He performed the surgery perfectly and has always been such a comfort and reassurance to me and my wife through this trial. I had the final post surgery appointment today and it was sad to say goodbye to him. read more

I had a very painful condition that required immediate outpatient surgery after an ER visit. Fortunately I received a referral to Dr. Skeehan whom I can't thank enough for quickly diagnosing and resolving my problem with minor surgery. Dr Skeehan and staff(especially his MA) are very nice. Having my gallbladder removed was the best decision I've made in a long time. I wish I hadn't waited so long trying to manage "naturally"; my gallbladder was a real a hole . Two weeks post op in doing great and I'm pretty much deflating, must have been really inflamed. I do not recommend Dr. Chen. It took me over three weeks to see him and though my visit could have been a short ten-minute in-office procedure, I left the ten-minute visit I had with him 1) with no new revelations from my already known test results which led me to his office; 2) was clear my case was insignificant in relation to rest of his other daily cases; 3) told me to reschedule a procedure (another 3 weeks out) which will be another costly copay (completely irrelevant to him); 4) the appointment was pushed out only one hour before my scheduled time by another two hours as his schedule was impacted, resulting in my taking a half day of work - lost income as well as wasted copays. I understand the business of a doctor's day, double booked the entire day, maxed. What was disappointing was my waiting three weeks to have a rushed less than 10-minute visit, walking out as a bottom priority and a number. Bad business transaction. There are plenty of other reputable surgeons in the area and I will never visit this doctor again. I've articulated this disappointment of this experience to the doctor who referred me to him. Choose another doctor for general surgery. Nothing like being treated like a number and a case file and not a person. Very disappointing to say the least. read more

This was my first surgery and I was nervous, beyond nervous due to my health issues. Starting at the front desk, the ladies upfront are very nice and welcoming. My vitals nurses are all very caring and gentle as well as considerate. Dr. Robertson is my surgeon. I will say this, talking to Dr. Robertson about the procedure I was having done put my mind at ease and mentally prepared me for surgery. He made sure I left without any questions left on my mind. The surgery itself was a success (inguinal hernia). My incisions are healed up perfectly and the pain is gone not even 2 weeks into recovery. Dr. Skeehan operated on two hernias I had. I have never had such painless surgery. He used the robot and all I have are three very tiny incisions. Only pain med I needed was xtra strength Tylenol for about 3 days. I also liked the anesthesiologist who listened to me and was able to knock me out with just IV drugs rather than the typical gasses they use which don't agree with me. Surgery took 2 hours and I was ready to go home after just about 45 minutes in recovery. I couldn't be happier. read more

Dr. Robertson performed an emergency cholecystectomy about two weeks ago. I cannot thank him enough for operating on me and removing my kaput gallbladder and ginormous gallstone. Despite the large size of the gallstone, the surgery was done laparoscopically reducing the overall recovery time. For that, I am extremely grateful. I'm sure it took experience and talent to remove such a huge stone through a smaller incision compared to a traditional open incision (with a much longer recovery time). Dr. Robertson sufficiently explained the surgery to my husband and me. Post-surgery, he visited me in my hospital room to check on me. I saw Dr. Chen once, briefly, the day after surgery when he checked the incisions. I felt very cared for. My recovery is going just as Dr. Robertson explained. His instructions and recommendations were clear, and he invited me to call the office if I have questions in the future. Great bedside manner, professional, caring. A referral was given to them for a colonoscopy. I discovered this when I called my primary provider after hearing nothing for three weeks to see if they'd made the referral and found the referral was made to these people on March 30. It was now late April so I called these people. I was told the referral "must've slipped through the cracks". They wanted to give me an appointment sometime in July but I said this was urgent as I'd received a "positive" result from a Cologuard test which was why the colonoscopy referral was made in the first place. The person on the phone said, "oh yeah, I better get you a stat appointment" and one was made to see the doctor on May 1. The appointment was fine...was told I needed a colonoscopy and that the schedulers would call me for a date and time. Lo and behold...after 7 days of hearing nothing from these people...I called them...again told my scheduling slipped through the cracks...must be lots of big cracks in that office....and made an appointment for a colonoscopy for May 31. Two hours later I realized that May 31 was the day after Memorial Day and prepping for a colonoscopy on the day of a family barbecue was probably not the best idea. I called them back and asked to reschedule for a different date. I was told they couldn't give me a different date right then because they needed the hospital to give them available times and they would call me when available times were given to them.Surprise...in the next two weeks...hearing nothing from THEM...I called twice and was told both times the same story...they still needed to get available times from the hospital. Good thing I wasn't a terminal patient! Long story short...today is June 24th and you guessed it...still no phone call on a referral given to them March 30! I called Stanford on June 16...had my colonoscopy this Wednesday the 22nd. I don't know how this office stays in business...I used their online portal to tell the colonoscopy doctor that I saw what was happening...but no response from him either...so either he's as bad as his office staff or the office staff erased the message so he couldn't see it. In either case...I wouldn't let any of these people go near my body. Buyer beware if you do! read more

I was referred to Sierra Pacific Surgery and got the first available appointment for a pre-op for my ailing gallbladder. I am so pleased that Dr Ryan Chen was able to see me and subsequently skillfully remove the gallbladder using laparoscopic surgery. Lucky me! Though the surgery was not routine I'm told, it was very successful. I have had a number issues requiring surgery as I am now called a "vintage" guy, but never one with the great care as provided by DrChen.
