The facility is nice. And some of the staff is quite nice. I wish I could say this better, but the Doctor is simply terrible, unthorough, and uncaring. He seemed to want to rush me out the door, and after a second visit I decided to never go back. I went to another office just a few months after my visit, and that office found 15 obvious issues - which they treated, and sent away for four biopsies. They were also well aware that this Doctor is known, and not admired. I strongly recommend using someone else. read more

This was my first visit to Sierraderm...nice office by the way. I called and got an appointment for the next day with nurse practitioner Adam Payne. The staff was pleasant and professional. I waited 10 minutes or so after completing my paperwork. A nurse asked me a few more questions. Then, Adam asked what my skin issues were. I explained them, then he discussed each with me. He took a biopsy, wrote me a prescription, and sent me on my way. Very efficient...just the way I like it. read more

My guy has been coming here for years. Over the past three years he has asked about a growth that had actually blossomed into the size of a large mushroom head on his back. Being a nurse I asked him what his dermatologist was saying. Just nothing to worry about he said. Last month my guy goes in and asks for it to be removed. It was starting to bleed. Gets a call a week later...Basal Cell Carcinoma. Absolutely the most common and easily diagnosed skin cancers... How do you miss this?? Unacceptable. If my guy had not requested removal how long would this have had to continue to grow? read more

This office way over-schedules patients! Part of the issue is that it's the only game in a town with a LOT of elderly former sun worshipers. Nevertheless, I'm still in the waiting room 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment. The doc and his assistant don't have Time to spend with you. Get em in ...get em out...yee haw! read more

We took my daughter into Adam who is the PA at Sierraderm to get her ears pierced. I wanted to take her to a clean and private place instead of just doing it at the mall. Adam explained to her what to expect, he cleaned the area and then he injected a small amount of Lidocaine to numb the area. She didn't feel the piercing at all! Adam was very patient with her, and did a great job! So glad I found out they do ear piercing here, never would've thought this was an option! read more

Dr. Muellenhoff at SierraDerm is a great dermatologist. The code used to quantify the number of moles I have is TNC which means "too numerous to count". I have been to multiple dermatologists throughout the years to keep an eye out for changes in my moles and Dr. Muellenhoff is by far the most competent and reassuring one I've seen. His office is beautiful, his staff is friendly and he uses cutting edge technology to keep track of all my little spots. During my regular yearly appointment he recognized that one the moles on my back which is hard for me to see and keep track of had grown by over 50%. They don't cover my insurance carrier so I am a cash paying customer. Not only do they give me a break on office visits but the staff sent my biopsy to a medical training center so that I wouldn't need to pay for the extra biopsy fees. The results came back that my mole was atypical and there was a moderate to severe chance of it turning cancerous. The only problem with Dr. Muellenhoff's office is that everyone in town knows that he's the best so they are very very busy. Because of my own busy schedule, I was not able to get an appointment with him for the mole removal but they referred me to a fantastic plastic surgeon who did the job perfectly. Feel so glad to be in good hands, catching potential cancer early and being seen by a doctor with a great network of providers who does his job well! read more

Very disappointing. I received a perfunctory cancer screening (from about 3 feet away) by a disengaged, disinterested, Dr. Muellenhoff. I waited 2 months for an appointment and received approximately 5 minutes of the Doctors time. read more

Is there a real dermatologist at this location? My husband has been here For several visits and is always seen by the physician assistant who really has not been able to help with his eczema if that is what it really is. Not happy with this experience & unfortunately Grass Valley doesn't have a large medical base to draw from. read more

Dr. Muellenhoff and all of the staff at SierraDerm are great. Super professional and they have your best interest at heart, as a doctor's office should. Beautiful center, almost looks like a spa. They may be the only "game in town," but I am very confident in recommending SierraDerm to all. Get with it! The office does not have the capability to send lab results by email, nor can they help when you need to get lab results directly from Quest. They also cannot email a medical release request by email or recieve them by email. I would have to travel to teh office to sign a release and even then, it takes a week to get the results by MAIL!!!! Irritating! I visit a dozen doctor's offices and every one does this basic stuff electronically without hesitation and quickly! They need a serious upgrade to the services they offer. If they are in the dark ages with computer communication, then are they in the dark ages with dermatology? The office staff is less then helpful and they just don't care. The office visit was less then pleasant too. Adam is nice enough, but his nurse...just rule followers. I am finding a new dermatologist....they certainly don't make me want to stay. read more

Dr. Mullenhoff is by far the best dermatologist I have ever been to from anywhere. Having a light complexion I've spent a lot of time in dermatologist's offices to keep away skin cancer. I recently went to his office for a skin cancer check and ended up having a biopsy. Dr. Mullenhoff took the time to answer my every question. I saw Adam Payne for an absent in a very sensitive area. He was the most insensitive and abrasive doctor I have ever seen. He didn't give me any explanation or warning as to the prosecute he was performing and it was excruciatingly painfull!!!! I have a very high pain tolerance so for me to be histerrically crying through the whole procedure certainty says something. It was the worst experience I have EVER had at a medical office! In addition the receptionist was extremely rude and in compassionate. I refuse to ever go back there again. read more

Waited forever for an appointment. he came in , looked at my skin and said literally. "I don't know what the hell that is" and walked out. I know Docs only spend a couple of minutes with patients but this was ridiculous. Also, there was a two month wait for an emergency appt.. He should stick to Botox. read more

what a joke!! I waited nearly 50 minutes for literally 2-3 minutes with Mr. Adam Payne. Probably the worst experience I had at any "doctor" except he isn't really a doctor. It was like a training video of everything not to do with a patient. He was the rudest and most insensitive "professional" I've met. From the time someone walks into his office until the time you leave, you are surrounded by excellence. Dr. Muellenhoff is a very kind and caring person. Next time they should consider not judging a family off a phone call. Nor should they turn down a patient by saying "well if he can afford to pay cash he shouldn't be on medi-cal." First off this was my brother in law who is mentally disabled, so no HE isn't paying cash. It's us, and NO WE CAN'T afford it but we know Sierraderm won't take insurance and he NEEDED to be seen so we all chipped in for him to be seen by these "top notch" dermatologists. He is having a problem and we wanted to keep him local but now here we are going to Auburn because this team felt it ok to be rude and judgmental to potential patients. So thanks for nothing Sierraderm, you really know how to act snobby, in fact you may even see this review and think "wow what a loser, we remember when their family called, they're probably lying" but who cares. Some people look at reviews before considering places like this and I'm going to save a lot of people the trouble of ever having to be snubbed by you and your staff. Have a nice day. read more

Adam Payne is extremely compassionate and confidently explained step by step exactly what needed to be done. I took my 6 year old to him for an allergic reaction to mosquito bites. He's great with kids and the front desk staff was very accommodating in keeping my kids entertained while we waited. I have been to this office 3x now. The staff is very friendly and polite and the office is very comfortable and nice. However, I have had similar experiences as others who have left reviews here with difficulty scheduling appointments. I also have never actually seen Dr. Muellenhoff. I was considering seeking another dermatologist, but what sealed the deal for me was my "appointment" yesterday. I arrived on time - last appointment of the day. Office was quiet, no one in the waiting room. I was taken back to a room relatively quickly, where I then sat - for more than 30 minutes. I finally got dressed and just walked out. No one would have even noticed had the receptionist up front not still been at her desk (after closing). I would be ok with waiting when the office is busy, but there was literally no one there. No one stopped by to say "someone will be with you shortly". Nothing. I was literally left in a room and ignored. I won't be back. read more
