Drury Plaza Hotel North Charleston - Queen bed

It is not in the most scenic part of Charleston, but it is convenient to plenty of food options and only a short drive to downtown. Traffic can get busy in the afternoons, but that seems to be the case just about anywhere. From the moment I checked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming. You can tell this property is still fairly new. One of my favorite parts of Drury stays is the extras, and this location delivered. Free popcorn is available anytime, and the 5:30 Kickback was one of the better ones I have experienced. They serve a full dinner, and you get three free drinks. You could easily stay in and have a full meal without leaving the hotel. The pool was clean and well-maintained. I used the gym every day. It has your typical hotel gym equipment. The only improvement I would suggest is better cleanliness in the gym area. I stayed in a king suite, which was very spacious. It would be a good setup for a family as well. The bed was softer than I prefer, and the pillows were fine but nothing special. Overall, the room was comfortable and roomy. If you are expecting a luxury or boutique hotel, this is not it. That is not what Drury is trying to be, and that is perfectly fine. I have stayed at plenty of Hampton Inns and similar hotels. This was a much better experience. I felt safe, the staff was friendly, and I would absolutely stay here again the next time I am in Charleston.

When I got in line there were a few issues with the people in front of me and putting that together with bad reviews I've read about this place, I was pretty sure they had given our room away since we came a lot later then anticipated. I was prepared to drive through the night to go back home however they had our room ready and it was as clean and organized as other Alofts we have stayed at in other cities. We had our dog and he enjoyed staying here too. Went down to the bar with him, they had limited ingredients but were able to make me a lemon drop martini which was delicious. We checked out the outdoor space the next day and it was a cute space to hang out. It's a good location if you want to shop and go to different places around the city - we went to Kiawah one day and Isle of Palms the next so was perfect central location for us. Top Golf is also right next door. Despite the bad reviews we had a really good experience and would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at Aloft Hotels in Asheville and Tampa, to name at least a few cities. The…read moreexperiences have always been good. That was not the case at the Aloft near the Charleston International Airport. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The only reason the rating isn't lower is that the bed was comfortable, and we did sleep alright on it during our three-night stay. If you do end up staying at this Aloft, it should only be for the night. There are no shelves for unpacking clothes. We essentially lived out of our suitcases for the stay. While the water pressure was ok in the shower of the bathroom, how the shower door is designed, even if you have it close, water does seep onto the floor. The hotel is stingy with the towels and housekeeping only comes once every couple of days, so you have to make the towels last. When they did show up, they never refilled the shower gel container or put in a new one, despite my calling down to the front desk to instruct them to do so. The front desk was relatively unresponsive and didn't acknowledge guests unless you were standing directly before them. And there was only one elevator working the entire stay, which took forever because guests were trying to access it at most hours of the day. While there are some decent amenities between the outdoor atrium patio space, the bar (which was never open when we were walking past in the lobby), pool table, lobby lounge seating, decent-looking gym, and a pool to go swimming, the service leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel hallways also don't seem to be like those Alofts in other locations I mentioned. This strongly feels like the building was a different, low-budget hotel before the Aloft based on the high-ceiling industry-like hallways that make it feel as if drug deals and murders happened in the middle of the night. It also didn't help that piles of used linen or other dishes usually sat outside rooms on our hallway for at least 24 hours. While the hotel worked for being close to the airport and easy driving distance to Riverfront Park for a music festival we were attending, there are other hotels we probably should have considered for the same price. And after this recent stay, we are done staying at Alofts.

There's plenty of parking (you do have to pay to park) and there's also a parking deck as well. The hotel is conveniently connected to the conference center by a sky walk so you don't even have to go outside to get to your conference. The rooms are excellent. My room had a living room with a dining table attached to a kitchen area. There's a fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room with a sink. The bedroom has a door that can be closed to the room. The rooms are very spacious and relaxing. There's two large TVs in the hotel room as well. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and the hotel is very easy to navigate. There's plenty breakfast Buffett was good with a nice variety of items to include: pancakes, French toast, eggs potatoes, oatmeal and fruit. Juices and coffee were also available. Plenty of room in the dining area to sit, relax and enjoy breakfast. Overall I am very happy with my experience at the Embassy suites.

Disgusting conditions, terrible management - do NOT stay here…read more I am beyond disappointed with my experience at Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim North. This was not just a bad stay--it was completely unacceptable. We waited over 3 hours to check in, with no clear communication, no urgency, and no effort from staff to resolve the situation. That level of disorganization is inexcusable. When we finally got into the room, it was dirty and clearly not properly cleaned, and to make things worse, there were no towels at all. Basic hospitality standards were completely ignored. The most alarming issue was the breakfast area. There were bugs and moths flying around while guests were eating. This is a serious sanitation problem and honestly made us question the overall cleanliness of the entire hotel. This property is severely mismanaged and does not meet even minimum expectations for a hotel stay. It reflects very poorly on the Hilton brand. I will be escalating this to corporate and expect accountability for this experience.
