We were fortunate to be able to enjoy a meal here while touring some wineries thanks to a local wine exporter that made reservations for us. We were staying in Mendoza (city) and arranged for a private car to drive us here and to a couple of nearby wineries. First, it is an absolutely gorgeous facility on beautiful grounds. It was raining the day we visited so we had to dine inside, but the dining room is lovely. The service is 5 star -- our waiter was excellent and spoke English well. He also was more attentive than you often see in South America, making sure our wine glasses were never empty. Our waiter warned us that the portions were large, and he was not kidding! He recommended either ordering two entradas and splitting an entree, or splitting an entrada and ordering two entrees if we were hungry. We went with the latter because hey -- we were on vacation! For the entrada, we ordered the empanada of the day. Much of the menu, including the empanadas, are cooked in a clay oven and had the perfect amount of char while rich and moist on the inside. There were two in our order and each was the size of a baseball. Delicious. For entrees, my wife had the gnocchi and I went for the steak. Both were truly spectacular. Honestly, the steak was the best I've ever had anywhere in the world. It was huge but still an excellent cut and was cooked to perfection. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the gnocchi as well -- best she's ever had. We were too full for dessert, but the options looked amazing. If you can manage to get a reservation here, do it.

I'd give 4.5 stars if I could, but this restaurant loses points for expectation rated to price. The view was simply SPECTACULAR. The food was almost as good as you pay for. The service we received was excellent when we arrived and they had only 2 tables. Unfortunately when the tables filled, the service disappeared almost entirely. This and a bad cocktail is where they lose a star from me. To be more specific: My friend and I wanted to try a good cross section of the menu, so I'll start from the beginning. We ordered 2 gin cocktails. Namasté was a lovely hibiscus, refreshing cocktail (not too sweet). Le Petit Prince was AWFUL. It was a sweetened passion fruit gin cocktail (with delicious lemon foam on top) that had disgusting sugar rainbow sugar stars like you'd find on a cupcake at the bottom. The bread that comes with the meal was not great, but it was fine and I was very pleased when they made me a fresh gluten free bread substitution. It was a nice touch. There was a lovely salmon on homemade pastry that came out with the bread. I tried it even though I'm paying for it today. It was lovely and not too heavy. For starters we ordered 2 salads: caramelised pear, prosciutto, with burrata. The pear was perfectly done. It carried the dish entirely. The prosciutto was good. The burrata actually wasn't good but it didn't matter. We loved this salad. The second salad looked beautiful and we ordered it for the mushrooms. It wasn't what I expected and although fine, it was nothing to write home about. Too lightly dressed. The flavours didn't really tie together. Still, we enjoyed something light to start the meal. Our greeting waitress informed us that starters were large for sharing, but main meals were small. When we got our starters we thought we were on track to order a dessert each at the end. This wasn't our experience at all and in the end we were disappointed that we were too full to order dessert. A few of the desserts looked spectacular. So: Main meal: 4 hour roasted lamb. It was fine. As an Aussie though I found it disappointing treatment of lamb. If they'd used goat or...? this would have been a better dish. I had goat here in Argentina this week that was much better than this dish and cost me 1/3. My steak: the ribeye cooked jugoso (medium rare) was the perfect point. I definitely needed the green salad it came with. There was very little chimmichurri but that was just fine with me because the steak flavours shone. The gratin vegetables were a nice touch. Back to the view: simply one of the nicest lunch settings of my life. This setting deserves a 3 Michelin Star restaurant. Unfortunately the food only compares to a Michelin plate with a 2 Star price.
This place is located in the beautiful foothills of the andes, no doubt. The restaurant though, most people have said it's amazing, lacked in our satisfaction of vegan food options. They didn't have the best wine collection either and the sommelier kept asking us every option, which is annoying. It was an expensive meal that left much to be desired, read more
WHAT A VIEW! Honestly, I would go here just for the sights but I am grateful that the food was amazing too. This restaurant is tucked away a bit which I am grateful for. I love the seclusion and it made for a wonderful lunch date on our honeymoon. We obviously saw Francis Mallmann on "Chef's Table" on Netflix so we had high expectations. There was an open kitchen format which was cool to look at and the building was really unique. Overall, I was very pleased and my expectations were met. We got amazing waygu steak - it came out on a skillet and it was sizzling. We had great wine, great service, great food and a great view. What more could you want?! read more

I've been sitting on this review for a while deciding just how to write this. Siete Fuegos was a bucket list item for me, even if it wasn't located at our hotel I would have found a way to get here, but since it was a 10 minute walk, it was even easier lol. Truth be told this was a 3.5 sort of experience for me, but I'll round up based on one dish. BREAKFAST - Not quite sure Siete Fuegos is responsible for the breakfast here, but it is where breakfast is served. A very small buffet offering, and a few small plates cooked to order. Food was decent, service was slightly lacking. DINNER - Ok, the most important part. Argentina is known for their meat, and they are known for liking their meat cooked a bit more than my pallet. Our guide told me over and over again if I wasn't happy with my meat to send it back, but I could never do that. And I trusted that Siete Fuegos would get it right. Ordered my Ribeye rare, hoping to get medium rare, but of course ended up with medium. Between being slightly too full from the appetizers, and my over cooked meat, I can't say I was crazy about my entree. That being said, our appetizers were delightful. We tried the Baked Manchego, Shrimp Salad, Mushroom Salad (to die for) and one other. They all paired nicely with our 1.25L bottle of wine (hard to come by!). Service was pretty good, and they allowed my husband to go into the outside cooking area and take a peak at their outdoor kitchen and fire cooking area. We did order a drink that came out almost an hour after ordering it, so they did comp it, which was nice. Ambiance is nice, but nothing to really blow you away. read more

Francis Mallmann has really taken his style of cooking and integrated it nicely into this area of Mendoza. Siete Fuegos captures his ideas of cooking with seven different fires and using all of the natural ingredients from the local area to show us how each different technique can come together and form a cohesive dining experience. I was lucky enough on my trip to UCO Valley in Mendoza to stay at The Vines Resort and eat at Siete Fuegos everyday while i was there. On one of the 8 days I was there, I was able to experience Siete Fuegos dinner. Watching as the chef and the cooks worked in an open kitchen format. They discussed each of the seven fires and talked about what they were cooking and why they were cooking it that way. After watching them cook and talking to several others, we sat down at a long table to enjoy a more communal dining experience! I loved the culture, the food, and what they were trying to get across at the Siete Fuegos. They served traditional Argentinian food with a Francis Mallmann touch! I can't wait to go back to Mendoza and stay at the Vines as well as eat at Siete Fuegos! Amazing, wine, friendly people, and incredible food...what more can you ask for!!! read more

A family type meal that is an experience. To watch them start cooking around noon and meet other guests is fun! A lot of meat, so if you aren't a meat lover head back to the dining room. The chefs do a great job of making it a show. read more

Views and property 5 stars. Our food left a lot to be desired. We decided to try some non-steak options which may have been our mistake (we've been traveling through Patagonia for weeks eating so much meat we needed a break). The salads were wonderful but the pulpo was very bad and poorly cooked and the pork was mediocre at best. The grilled veggies were okay but not charred as I had eagerly anticipated. The service was wonderful as was the ambiance and wine list. I'm sure the steaks are incredible. overall a lovely visit. read more

The service was amazing and the restaurant ambience was out of this world. The food however, was only mediocre and extremely overpriced. They are living on the name rather than actual quality of food. We had the burrata, Which was very small portion and salty. The pumpkin soup was very interesting and tasty. The ribeye was cooked nicely however the actual cut was relatively fatty. To top things off, the restaurant want to to charge $24 to pick us up for taxi service even though we were staying at one of the resorts less than 1 mile away. read more
