The office is disgusting. Chairs ripped, wall paper falling down, bathroom dirty with no soap in dispenser, front desk rude, elevator you take your life in your hands best to walk up the stairs. The absolute worst coordinated office and staff ever. Everytime i go there its backed up and overbooked where your constantly in 3 different waiting rooms for minimum a 1hr if your lucky. This office & business is awful! In the past week my father had 2 appts that we received the appt card and show up to appointment to find he is not in computer for that appointment. They had to fit us in making him wait over 2 hrs at 87 yrs old. Go to second appt AGAIN his appointment not in computer!!! One time, let it go things happen, but a second time!! The office manager was not helpful not giving an answer or reason why this happen AGAIN!! Horrible patient care! They just don't care or concerned just want money! The conversations that going on in the office is completely inappropriate. The wait is extremely long and the waiting room is packed. The office is very unsanitary !!! The office and building smells musty and like mold. I had to reschedule my family member's appointment due to the lack of communication with the front staff. I had asked if the doctor was coming due to waiting over an hour and another doctor was not helpful at all as if she couldn't be bothered. I overheard her regarding a patient that was coming in scheduled incorrectly complaining about it. I would have definitely given this a 5 if I was rating it only on the doctor. Doctor Karl is knowledgeable, kind and is patient with his patients. They do take insurance. The negative was that it was crowded and the wait was long. read more

SightMD NY -- Bay Shore 375, New York - Ophthalmologists Near Me - Bay Shore, New York

UNORGANIZED, UNATTENTIVE, UNSANITARY. I had an appointment scheduled for 3:25pm with Dr. Nichols for a chalazion removal. Being led from one waiting room to another I did not see the doctor until 5pm at which point he spoke to the nurse for 2 minutes and walked out of the room. The nurse smeared lidocane on my eyelid and told me to go back to the waiting room. Another 20 minutes later I am in the "operating" room waiting another 15 minutes for the doctor to show. Finally the procedure. Dr. Nichols had no bedside manner. The few times I tried to speak he talked right over me addressing the nurse. 5 minutes and all was done and with the words " You'll be fine in a day" the doc walked out. There was no post operative care given or questions answered. The nurse told me the medicine was sent to the pharmacy and instructions will be on the bottles. That is it. I was not told what to expect after or how to care for the wound. To top it all off right after the procedure the nurse failed to take her gloves off which were very visibly covered in my blood. She handled my chart, the pen and ALL of the equipment she was putting back on the shelves to use on other patients with those gloves on. I would never recommend SightMD or Dr. Nichols nor will I ever consider coming back. read more

Long waits no matter when the appointment is scheduled or who you are seeing. They insist on full screening even if you are there for a sty! I assume this is for insurance purposes. If it has been a year or more since you were screened this is considered good medicine. Dr Marcantonio is very nice and spent a lot of time with me. He is an optometrist not an MD but he is very thorough and presumably would refer to MD if needed. read more

I came here with an eye infection which an eye doctor should be able to cure. Instead I was used to pad their paycheck by being brought back every few days for over a month and constantly having to buy new medications. I now have scarring on my eye since they took so long to cure me. read more

Bay Shore location only Not at all wheelchair accessible Elevator is old and has a manual door that is heavy. The elevator is too small for a wheelchair and if you can't transfer out of the wheelchair you can't reach any of the machines for any medical tests. Also my appointment was 3 hours long. Bayshore Office I was notably impressed by the professionalism and care shown by Dr. Lewen and his Staff yesterday. The wait was not long and the Staff was considerate and helpful. Dr Lewen was cordial and followed up my work-up with detailed information regarding the tests he had performed on my eyes, as well as patiently answering my concerns. It was in stark contrast to another Ophthalmology office I went to last week and subsequently left feeling like a number, being treated with little to no concern for my well-being.
