This place is truly excellent. I have never been here before. I called the other day to find out if they could replace the plastic/rubber like piece that sits on your nose when wearing your glasses. They said they could do it for free. I went in today and was greeted immediately. They replaced BOTH pieces (even though only one was missing) and they even cleaned my glasses for me! Office staff is not personable. Called to get information and although they don't take my in network insurance I do have out of network insurance and they didn't even entertain trying to help me. Now I sit here struggling to find someone to help my son with vision therapy who does participate with our insurance plan. It's saddens me that they are so quick to dismiss on the phone without going that extra step to find out that I do have out of network insurance. Long time patient and drive a silly distance to continue. Dr. Meltzer fixed my daughters eyes. She had difficulty reading in school and therapy made a big difference. She reads for pleasure now after hating it!..my son constantly pokes his eyes on things and they have helped him with sports goggles, contacts and glasses since he was 5 years old- a constant win with this office. We continue to go because the quality of eye exams with all the doctors- better than any other eye doctor we have tried. For me, Dr M took care of my eyes during brutal rounds of chemotherapy (who new eyecare was super important then?) After that, they suggested computer glasses and WHAT a difference- I can work without itchy sore eyes or headaches. They even refill my eyeglass cleaner. I came in with a bag of glasses yesterday and was helped by Trisha. I remember her from the old office-loved her then and love her now- and she was a joy to work with. She had my glasses adjusted with cool efficiency and even helped me order a new pair of glasses- the first glasses that I actually think look nice on me! Its a drive but for my eyes-well of course -they are worth it.. The glasses are not as cheap as Sam's BUT they also don't fall apart, hurt my temples -and I can "see" the difference in the lenses- I think we have been with them for 20 years now and can't imagine leaving. read more

I've been going to Eye Vision Associates and using Dr Gnadt for about eight years. I go annually for my dilated eye exam and to get a new contact lens prescription. There really isn't a more organized or well-run place. You can make your annual exam for the following year before you even walk out the door. I like this service, because otherwise I certainly wouldn't remember. Dr Gnadt is the kindest and most dedicated of doctors. I never feel rushed although a full visit with screenings, lens fittings etc can take about two hours, so don't plan on being somewhere else right away. read more

Just walked out of this place. Hear me out y'all. I had an appointment for my daughter originally at 4:45pm. My husband and I received a call in the morning that they have a doctor coming in so instead of coming in at 4:45pm to come in at 3:45pm. Then, they call back and say if we can come in at 4:15pm instead because the doctor is running behind schedule. We arrive right on time and we wait. Our daughter is like any other 16 month old baby that gets bored in matter of minutes so she's walking around trying to distract her boredom and there's nothing really that she can do around this place, so my husband and I take turns walking around with her. It was 4:55pm and we are still waiting. We hear another child that came after us be called inside. I asked the assistant we were here since 4:15pm when are we going to get called and the assistant's response was that another doctor will see her and that they have 3 doctors inside. My thought is, 3 doctors and they're calling others after us, it just doesn't make sense to me or maybe she didn't explain herself well, but again that's not acceptable because we have been waiting this long to hear there are only 3 doctors.. anyways, my daughter was getting more uncomfortable every minute that passed by and she began to yell because she wanted to walk around some more but there were more people coming inside. We just tried to keep her calm and it wasn't working up until this point. We get up to talk to the front desk and ask them what's going on and also to tell them we are disappointed with them because they have us waiting this long while we could of just came in at our original appointment time. They have the audacity to say that they called us earlier for courtesy to let us know there's a doctor that can see our daughter and would be better to come in earlier than our regular appointment time. That it's not their fault the doctor had an emergency and every patient receives special treatment that's why the doctor takes long, so we would also receive that same treatment time lot and we should be called in 5 minutes. Which is insane how she can magically assume that we will be called in exactly 5 minutes (what an accurate time) as she just sat there making this response without even asking the doctor or assistant if it would actually take 5 minutes for us to be called. I just responded with ok because honestly at this point it didn't make sense to have a discussion while my daughter is most uncomfortable than my husband and I surrounded with more and more people waiting to be called. We decided to wait those 5 minutes but like I mentioned earlier, my daughter wasn't happy and my husband and I couldn't wait any longer, so we decide to leave and tell the front desk to just cancel our appointment. They lost 3 patients today, they clearly showed us how they couldn't care any less, while they just watched us go and not try and find a solution for us. Truly disappointed and hope they establish a better timeframe system for other patients especially for little ones like my daughter. read more

I have had nothing but issues with my last 3 visits to this office for my family. The first issue was with my daughter's frames. They were ordered in the wrong color twice and took forever to come in the correct color. The office staff was rude and unhelpful. They continued to blame VSP for the problem. The second issue was with my glasses and the coating on them. I waited 4 weeks and still got the wrong lenses. I was assured all of these problems would be addressed and the service would be improving. They were in the midst of a move and clearly not focused on customers. The most recent issue was today with my husband's glasses. They misinformed us about our insurance information and even after we questioned the person in the front twice about the glasses the information was still wrong. We went back to clear up the issue and no was available to help. My husband is getting migraines and vertigo and his glasses are now on hold. Nothing at this point has been resolved. Don't waste your time. Staff is unhelpful and unknowledgeable. read more

This was a disheartening experience to say the least. The series of problems that had little resolution other than me going into the office yet again, 9 times and counting in 4 months. Starting with the prescription being wrong, the lens coating giving a purple tint (which I was told was not going to be) and most of all the stretching and bending on my frames that I opted to use to save myself some money. The "team" at Eye Vision insists on continuing to heat up and fit my frames, and then blame the problems and delay in services on everyone else in the office. They do not call when the glasses, or lenses are in, or return the call on the status of anything. I would not recommend this office and its unprofessional overpriced service to anyone. S- read more

This is such an amazing practice with a wonderful and talented group of doctors. My favorite is Dr. Meltzer, who has gone above and beyond for my family and I. My two year old has taken a particular liking to him and she hates most doctors! I cannot say enough about how wonderful this practice is. I started with Dr. Cohen back in 2003 due to vestibular issues. Joanne worked with me through vision therapy, and she is the best. I've been seeing Dr. Meltzer for the last few years after Dr. Cohen retired. He is without a doubt one of the most caring doctors I've ever been to. He takes very good care of me! In fact, I have since moved out of New York, but I will continue seeing him when I come back for visits. That's how wonderful he is!! read more

Avoid the dispensary! Though the eye docs are great at this practice, don't buy your glasses or lenses from their dispensary. You will, of course, be "gently pressured" to do so. But they took my money to make sunglasses which were clearly made with the wrong prescription, and they NEVER made good on their mistake. I am out hundreds of dollars for those glasses, and still without sunglasses. They simply refused to either correct their error or refund my money. The folks in the dispensary are not entirely competent, more intent on selling product than make sure your eye health is preserved. There are many eye health practices on LI, you can do better elsewhere. read more

Dr. Tamburro gave a very thorough exam, and helped me solve the problem of ongoing undiagnosed headaches with a pair of glasses. I started at Eye Vision Associates seeing Dr. Cohen who is now retired. He brought me so far! My eyes were a mess with double vision as a result of a Traumatic brain Injury. Now I see Dr. Meltzer so my vision is monitored very well. I've had problems with contact lenses and Dr. Meltzer has been doing everything he can to help. I took my children here per a refferal of a friend.He raved about the doctors and the ataff. Although I will say the doctor was amazing, kind and interactive with my children, the staff left much to be desired. Ihad originally scheduled the apt at 2pm in order to make it to another doctor appt at 5. I left ample travel time in between apts. However, about a wk after scheduling the apt I recieved the paperwork and a gentile reminder of their 230 apt. I dismissed it thinking there were two kids maybe they just wrote the second apt down. When it came to the day of ...I recieved a twxt message saying my aot was at 3pm. I arrived at 2pm ready tobask questions about the time and the recoetionist was rude and insisted I had heard wrong. We did get seen after almost an hr wait*not fum with 3 kids ). As I said the docotor was very thorough and gave us eye med samples for thw kids to cut costs. Hopefully next time there will be less confusion as I realy did like the attentive care. read more

I have been wearing glasses and contacts for 20 years, and this was by far the most thorough eye exam I have ever received. Dr. McGovern was extremely professional and friendly. He listened to my concerns and was very helpful. I didn't feel like the appointment was being rushed or that I didn't matter. I never write reviews but everyone should know about Eye Vision Associates and Dr. Gnadt. I had been going to the "mall" optometrist for years. Same exam every year. Same equipment every year. This year I wanted contact lenses that would actually work and be comfortable. Completely different eye exam with Dr. Gnadt with equipment I had never even seen before. I had so many annoying eye issues for years that were never explained by my prior optometrist. After the preliminary exam by the assistant, Dr. Gnadt walked in and asked me if anyone ever told me I had an eye condition. It explained so much. She told me I probably had the condition since I was in my early 20s. She also told me it runs in families. My daughter has a lot of the same issues so I will be bringing her to Dr. Gnadt too. Because of my newly diagnosed medical condition, I did not have to pay a penny for my contact lenses. They are now completely covered by the medical insurance portion of my vision coverage. I highly recommend Dr. Gnadt and her staff. read more
