A friend took me here for dinner. We went again a few weeks later. Both experiences were satisfactory. The service is super friendly, the menu is extensive and the dining room is clean. I ordered Butter Chicken both times and my friend ordered Chicken Tikka Masala -- we're both basic. They're standard Indian Entrees, but it seems Signature India makes them spicier than most other places. Don't forget Garlic Naan on the side! Is it the best Indian out there, no, but it's pretty good for the Midwest. They have the creamiest Mango Lassi's as well, but they're tiny for the price. Everytime I went grocery shopping at Pan Asia, I would eat at Signature India if I was in the mood for Indian food. They have a pretty small space with no decoration. I don't drink tap water so I really like that they give customers complimentary bottled water. They also have Indian style pastries and a good selection of breads. Must try item - pistachio cake. I took my friends from out of town here a few weeks ago and they loved it. Service was good and attentive. If you have high tolerance in spicy food, the Chicken Pepper Fry is definitely for you. It's delicious and very spicy. The Chili Chicken dish is pretty good too, but not as spicy as the Chicken Pepper Fry. I also liked the chicken tikka masala. I usually ordered butter/garlic naan to dip with the sauce because I didn't like the rice here. Rice was not aromatic spiced, and kinda dry. We also got the Signature India Special Chicken Biryani which including flavorful and tender bone-in chicken with chicken 65 pieces on top. Signature India is a more of a casual spot located near the Manchester Walmart/Costco, across from Pan Asia. The space is relatively small with minimal decorations but staff is friendly and the bathrooms are very clean. My boyfriend and I went here with a friend with dietary restrictions. This is her favorite Indian spot near Saint Louis since it's reportedly very authentic and serves halal. (Her family is from India and this is her dad's favorite.) There is a wide selection on the menu from dosas to even baked goods -- I haven't personally gotten to try these yet but were told the pistachio cakes are very good. We got garlic naan, onion pakora, chicken with pepper fry, chicken tikka masala, navratna korma, and the boneless chicken biryani (they also have a bone-in option). It appears to be very authentic indeed -- I had a hard time tasting much since it was incredibly spicy even when requesting the lowest possible spice level. (The food came out pretty fast for how much we ordered so not sure if the curries are made ahead of time so they were unable to adjust the spice?). Everything with the exception of the onion pakora and naan was spicy. I had also ordered an aloo paratha (but they accidentally served us an extra naan instead). We ended up being overstuffed so I didn't mind. The chicken tikka I could tell was delicious with soft chicken. The navratna korma (veggie korma with cashews) was also flavorful with the sauce but my boyfriend and I needed lots and lots of rice for both. The chicken pepper fry was basically like eating fireballs XD but my friend loved this dish. My boyfriend's favorite was the biryani (also very, very spicy). However, the waiters here are very nice! They gave us all free mango lassi because they saw we were struggling. The mango lassi was the perfect amount of mango sweetness and very much needed yogurt to help with the flavorful spice. We took home the chicken biryani to mix with more white rice at home and I could tell it was very flavorful with generous portions of meat. I am probably a wimp, but just to note to be careful if you have low spice tolerance like me! My friend loved everything here. The Indian food here is good. One of my favorite Indian dish that I like is the goat biryani. We also ordered garlic naan and curry chicken. One other dish that is fried bread type with dip was filling. Despite only two tables with customers at the time, it was a little time before we had staff to come and take our orders. This could be due to the other customers at the other table because they seems to have specific requests. Went late on a Friday evening for dosas again. This time I also ordered Veg Pakoras from Appetizer menu -- as expected, it came AFTER our dosa orders. Hubby got the Signature Special dosa that I got last time (looks like pizza!) and ate most of it before my Dosa came. We didn't feel Pakora was worth the cost, as it was mostly battered strings and tiny bits of unrecognizable veg -- think of Americans' Thanksgiving topping French Fried Onions. I ordered Paper Dosa, which came on 2 plates. I took some dosa home, along with the sambar. I didn't know Aloo Masala wasn't included but could be ordered at extra cost -- their menu only lists dosa, no descriptions or what can be added. Next time I'll just order Masala dosa (includes Aloo masala). read more

hmm...I think I'll have to give this place four stars. The thing they do best is what you'd expect out of a restaurant - they have really good food. Very happy with the food we ordered, it was great, the butter chicken was some of the best I've had, the chicken korma was a nice, somewhat spicy dish, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the na'an was also quite good. But the experience on the whole was a little lacking. Let me explain: There is close to 0 decor. It sort of reminds me of one of those strip-mall chinese restaurants but with pretty much bare walls. There are a few things here and there but it doesn't give you the indian restaurant feel that you might be used to. The service I found to be very slow. There is very little multi-tasking. Everyone and everything is in a specific order. We ordered two diet cokes (you get a bottle of water when you sit down....we saw no one else with anything else to drink) and instead of bringing the two cans on his next pass we waited until it was our table's turn to get serviced on the next go around. No big deal. But everything seemed to be on a schedule. Lastly, the service wasn't personable. It was all very business, not so much smiles and salutations. Delicious and worth the drive from CWE! I came across Signature India after having finished dinner at the next door Nippon Tei. It was past 9pm and signature India was still bustling and packed with people, so we knew this is legittttt. We couldn't help but go inside to peruse the menu and bakery. We promptly went for lunch the next day. We had the signature special chicken biryani, lamb curry, and naan. Service was fast and friendly. The biryani was absolutely delicious! It was topped with their popular "chicken 65" - which is addictive on its own. The rice had a great spice kick, and was complemented by the yogurt on the side. The goat curry was also well made. The meat was off the bone tender and flavorful. But in the end, the biryani stole the show for us. We had another full meal's worth of food leftover to take home between the two of us. We asked for some recommendations on their bakery items and picked up a few to go. They were all delicious. Quite a few other patrons ordered the dosas while we were there. We have been to a lot of the Indian restaurants on Manchester, but Signature India! We went on a Saturday night and decided to dine in. It was busy, which is a great sign! We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala (which we have learned is really a British dish), Vegetable Samosas, Dal Palak (lentils with spinach), and the Vegetable Manchurian. The Samosas came first with some of that delicious green dipping sauce (I don't know what it is called :-)). They were tasty! We enjoyed them and so did our 3 year old son! The main dishes were good, and we liked the Tikka the best. It was prepared with good sauce, chicken was not too bad, and loved the added vegetables (pepper and onion). Lentils are always a hit, but the spinach overtook this dish (Dal Palak) to the point where there was almost too much for us. Our new dish for the evening that we had never tried, was the Vegetable Manchurian. The overall flavor was okay, but the spiciness is what made it good. Every dish paired well with the Basmati Rice and Naan, which I feel is a must to have both to compliment Indian food. Overall, the Samosas and Chicken Tikka Masala were the hit of the night. If we were to try Signature India again, we would definitely order different dishes and the Biryani! read more

We moved from University City a while back and were regular patrons at House of India and have been missing it! Fortunately, our new neighborhood has a LOT of Indian restaurants so we've been able to try many different spots. We got the craving on Sunday and decided t9 check out Signature India. We ordered the samosas, which came highly recommended here on Yelp, and yes, the dipping sauces were outstanding! We ordered the bread basket and the Kashmiri paratha (all yummy), along with chicken tikka masala and Navaratan Korma. Both were good, but the korma was a LOT spicier than I've typically had and enjoyed. We really liked the experience and the food (though I will probably skip the korma going forward, simply because I enjoy a more mild version, as a counterbalance to spicier dishes we get). We had plenty to take home to make another meal. As a very nice surprise they sent us home with a sample of 2 of their cakes from the bakery side of the business. We WILL be back for cake as it was delicious! The restaurant isn't heavily decorated with an Indian theme as other reviewers mention, but we are there for the food and so that isn't a big deal to me. I had the opportunity to use the ladies room and it was super clean, which I really appreciate! Give them a shot when you're on Manchester and in the mood for Indian. read more

I am obsessed with the chutney. I thought their dosas were OK, mainly because I don't like mine very thin and I thought the masala could've used more seasoning. One of my Indian clients had recommended this restaurant, and I had since been looking for an opportunity to indulge in this restaurant's offerings. I had mine delivered with Uber Eats. I have been craving a good curry puff for the longest time, and I ordered the chicken tikka puff. I can only say that I was in heaven as I savored the dish. It is made of delectable chicken tikka pieces (perfectly sized and not at all chunky to overpower the delicate dish) in a very fresh, extremely flaky puff pastry. The combination of the taste, freshness and size of the puff was astoundingly delightful. To me, samosas cannot compare to this puff. I ordered two main courses, so that I could sample both, and eat them over the next few days. I was eyeing the ulavacharu biryanis, curious about the taste of horse gram incorporated in the biryani, something I've never tried before. Instead, I opted for the shrimp biryani that came with a thick and cool raita, and my usual go to in any Indian restaurant, lamb korma, which came with a side of basmati rice. The biryani basmati rice was fluffy, light, and coated with just enough ghee, and spiced well. The shrimp was medium sized, did not have any powdery texture, was well cooked but not rubbery, flavorful with its garam masala. The spice level was perfect for my palette, just right so that it was not overpowering, and I could actually taste the different levels of the masala of the dish. read more

Wow. I've been trying to "visit" local independent restaurants during this stupid COVID mess, and I can't believe that it took me this much time and a darn pandemic for me to find Signature India. This place prepares absolutely FANTASTIC food, and managed to present it appealingly even packaged up for delivery. (Yeah, I'm really lazy and did DoorDash instead of picking up myself.) I ordered vegetable samosas (perfect combination of crispy and creamy and just enough spice), a lovely garlic naan, and a navaratan korma that was just absolutely gorgeous. I'm feeling proud of myself for having saved some of everything for lunch tomorrow. If you're a fan of Indian and are out here in West County, you need to try Signature India. A friend wanted to go out for Indian food and I had tried once before. Totally worth the drive! The place was packed with families, and we were able to get the last 2 top. My friend wanted to try the chicken curry, and the waiter was quite helpful letting us know it would be really spicy (hot). He recommended the chicken korma, and she loved it! Flavorful but not hot. I had the chicken biryani. Also wonderful. Tasty. And plentiful. Garlic naan had a nice char with buttery garlic flavor. We loved watching the kids and families while enjoying our lunch. It did take some time to get the check, but we were in no rush. The restaurant is attached to a bakery and we stopped by after our meal.to oggle the truly beautiful dessert display with tiramisu, mango/pineapple and other delicacies. We asked rhe person at the counter which was his favorite and he said butterscotch. Being full, we opted not to buy dessert today, but if i need desserts, i would order these treats. I am not the target market for this restaurant, so take my opinions with a grain of salt. Excellent food (5/5), but understaffed so service and order handling/timing is lacking at the moment (3/5). This is Indian food with an emphasis on South Indian specialties. They also have a beautiful variety of cakes and baked goods. I had Chicken 65, Bisi Bele Bath, and Dum Ka Murgh alongside garlic naan. Also ordered chicken tikka naan, but there was a mixup and I got an onion kulcha or naan instead (still very tasty) - the owner offered to replace my chicken tikka naan the next time I come in, which I happily accepted. Chicken 65 was mildly spicy and very flavorful! I may have to get it every time from now on. Bisi Bele Bath was delicious and a massive portion with good chunks of vegetable. Dum Ka Murgh was one of the best things I'd eaten since moving back to STL. The combination of onion, sour, and spice had me eating until I was stuffed! Got a few cake bars to try. They were beautifully prepared but could use a bit more flavor in the filling. Saw a few dosas go to people eating in and will be back to try them soon. read more

It was OK. I'll elaborate... ISC brought me here, so this was a group dining experience. Staff seemed a little taken aback by 13 Yelpers (maybe unprepared) but definitely made aware prior to our arrival. Clearly understaffed, our server did his best. Although it wasn't quite on point, he was running from one side of the restaurant to the other serving, bussing, prepping takeout orders, ringing customers and answering the telephone. Once we finically got our orders in, it didn't take long for food to start rolling out. They forgot several servings of rice, making it impossible for many of us to eat our meals. Indian just isn't complete without the rice or naan. Anywho, I ordered the Mushroom Matter. It never arrived. Another dish arrived that was clearly not Mushroom Matter. I advised the server, he examined my dish, apologized for the error and stated a Mushroom Matter would be out in 5 minutes. Fast forward 10 minutes... no Mushroom Matter. I'm filling up on naan & samplings from from dining partners. Fast forward 15 minutes....no Mushroom Matter. I'm ready to go, disappointed and completely full. It's also getting late & I've lost the desire to eat. I caution the sever that I'm no longer interested in the Mushroom Matter. He pleads the meal is almost ready, already prepared, on its way out. Fast forward 5 minutes...no Mushroom Matter. Again, I advise the server to cash me out. He returns with Mushroom Matter. I ask for a takeout container and the check. This dining experience was a slight disaster simply because I didn't eat my desired meal and communicating my disappointment to the server was to no avail. What saved Signature India was my company. We had about 12 and it seemed the size of the group was a bit overwhelming. Some orders were not accurate. Ordered the samosas, garlic naan, and butter chicken mild. There were four samosas to an order. It was good. Standard potatoes and peas. Not too greasy. The garlic naan was tasty. The butter chicken was very flavorful but a bit more heat than other places. Plenty of chicken. Sauce was a good consistency, not too thick, not too runny. The corn app was delicious. Tasty, crispy texture but not dry. The Califlower app was also good but extremely spicy. They have a huge bakery area and options. I didn't have any but it looked good. Food was solid.
