I didn't realize how much I missed Mexican food, until our friends brought us to Iguanas…read more I grew up in Southern California which happens to border Mexico; hence the great multitude of Hispanics that reside there (Spanish is California's second most spoken language). I LOVE Mexican food! However, the "Mexican" food I grew up eating was actually Americanized Mexican food, and that's what you will find at Iguanas. Surprise, surprise the owner is American. Did I call that one or what?! When you walk in the door, you're met with lively Mexican music playing in the background. Feel free to seat yourself. Staff are wearing pretty embroidered blouses, speak English and greet you with "Hola" (Hello). They are friendly and hardworking. I TRIED: - Nachos - was topped with olives and pickled sliced jalapeño peppers served with spicy nacho cheese sauce on the side. The chips were thin and crispy. They tasted like they were made in house: a perfect start to our meal. - Mahi mahi was underwhelming: sauce on top didn't compliment it well, and the garlic chips were overpowering. - Beef Fajita - came with delicious Mexican rice, grilled onions and bell peppers and flour tortillas. This was served hot on a sizzling platter. Meat was tender; we enjoyed this dish. - Puerco (pork tenderloin) Vera Cruz - tasted awful, hubby thought it tasted fishy. I wouldn't recommend this. - Chicken Enchilada came with Mexican rice and refried beans - the sauce was lacking heat, as evidenced by the brown color (it should be red); but it was a tasty. Refried beans were on the runny side. Mexican rice was DELISH! - Shredded beef taco (a la carte) came with pico de gallo: I added their salsa instead. It was a good size and filled with tender beef YUMMY! - Iced tea was frothy, it was ok - Virgin Piña Colada - thick and frothy, it was decent Iguanas just relocated from their building on Don Juico Ave, so everything is brand spanking new. It's hard to miss, look for the bright yellow building on Fil-Am Friendship Hwy between the bridge and McDonalds. I love the vibrant colors of yellow, green and red that are used in their decor, makes for a photogenic background. If you look on top of the aircon units you can even grab Mexican hats to wear for your pictures. If you are chilled by their strong aircon, you can grab a serape (blanket) from the corner by the bathrooms. Food that sticks to your bones, good portions and reasonably priced OH YEAH! I can't believe we've finally found Mexican food here that reminds us of home. My tastebuds have been deprived for way too long, bring me one of everything on the menu!

It's supposed to be open 24 hrs but when we come here they don't want to serve us most of the menu they say they're out of this but when we come back in 2 hours the next shift isn't out of anything this has happened many times and it's quite frustrating not to mention many times they're closed except the doors aren't locked the lights are not off and the sign is on what the heck is going on here. We're driving all the way from Itogon about 9 kilometers only to get disappointed. Tonight the only thing you can order is classic burger and guess what fries is not available ! How can you eat burgers without fries? I think they just don't want to work ! WTF! We almost don't want to come back if they will treat us like this. It was no like this before ! The management should check! If you can't serve atleast 80% of your menu .... just do t open! Sent from my iPhone

I always passed by this place from a distance so I never saw what was inside. In my head, this was like a random Philippine Navy or Army recruiting station located in a busy restaurant area of Camp John Hay. On this most recent trip to Baguio I finally walked close by ArmyNavy. I was totally wrong! It turns out that ArmyNavy is actually a fast food restaurant that serves up delicious food. Haha! The menu is quite long! They serve up burgers, mexican-style dishes, chicken and filipino breakfast. On my first visit I ordered their pinoy breakfast burrito. The burrito had spanish rice, fried egg and chicken adobo flakes. This burrito was so rich but soooooo good! Try it with a side of sour cream. On another visit I tried their fried chicken. The leg and thigh pieces were really juicy and the skin crisp. I was really surprised at how delicious the chicken was. Unfortunately the white gravy paired with the chicken was a bit too peppery. Another miss was the stuffed chocolate croissant with the vanilla ice cream. It looked great in the picture but it fell apart quickly and the croissant was kind of stale. Overall, solid fast food restaurant chain in the Philippines. Personally, I thought this place was much better than the uber-popular Jolibee chain. Check them out!

I call myself a first world foodie to remind me that no matter how many stars align for my experiences, they are a million stars for some in this world. Save yourself and stop here. The huge drain pictured is where I came across a family of 6 Somalian refugees encamped just 2 days earlier. Eating, sleeping there. No amount of money I gave them was enough. It's since been roped off. So tonight, my meal was a million stars comparatively. From my Yelp perspective? 5 stars. These were some delicious, spicey Filipino/Korean seasoned crunchy tacos. Almost kimchi, almost adobo. Trust me, completely amazing. Curly fries reminded me of Arby's. The sweet tea, by Libertea. By itself would beat most teas in the south USA. Service, standard Pinoy, but that in itself is super dooper amazeballs. No way to describe it. Some put in 14 hr days $4 a shift. Basically .29 usd per/hr. Plus tips. Perspective. Take care folks. What can I say. I'm all about finding a bargain even if it means doing a little "ukay-ukay." And it'll be an experience, for sure. So, Big Bro, GodNiece and I came through a tad bit early. (Every vendor was still setting up when we got there) so we got to kinda walk around (what I was told was) Session road and did a little exploring. (We even discovered a store that had these beautiful giant pythons! Whoa!) And then: opening hour. The entire area was simply bustling once their prearranged opening hours began. Boy was it crowded. We started on one end of the street where one can find a spread of Filipino street food: fish balls, chicharron, dim sum, porridge, soup, etc... we had a few to start us off prior to our bargain hunting. I found a SF 49ers sweater for P300PHP (around $6.) It was a must have because it wasn't a fake. (I would know. I already have something similar.) GodNiece found a sweater jacket worth $85US (her boyfriend who is in the US just got one) for the bargain price of P350PHP ($7.) It was a steal. (FUN FACT: Most clothing items hail from abroad. If you have an eye for it AND some patience, you will find some good buys here in this night market!) We walked through the entire thing and found even more good eats on the other end. (No, childhood friend refused to come.) It could use better lighting and spacing out between vendors. Otherwise, it was fun! I'd do it again given the chance!

At night most of the traffic is rerouted and this street turns into a night market! I've been to Bangkok's and Bali's night markets, but this is the first one I have been to in The Philippines. There were plenty of vendors selling clothes, electronics, and accessories! Some of the stuff here are much better in quality than some of the things I got in Bangkok and it was cheaper as well. We only did a little bit of shopping because we wanted to check out the food vendors which were all located towards the end of the market. The street foods were so good and cheap! skewers for 40 cents USD each and fresh coconut juice for 30 cents USD! I also saw several international street food choices as well (Chinese, Thai, American, Mexican, and Middle Eastern) as we walked through the market. Cheap delicious foods and bargain shopping are always a plus in my book!
