After a 3 hour power shop in the mall, I got hungry and was craving a burger. Now burgers aren't something I typically go for while in the PI, I typically forego Jollibee's burgers, refused to eat at McDonald's, and I was very disappointed with Wendy's during a past visit. Stopped into ArmyNavy and was I ever happy I did.
Ordered the single California burger without their California sauce (asked what it was and was told it was mayo, ketchup, and pickles which I assumed meant relish, sounds a lot like the special sauce on a Big Mac which I dislike) but instead asked for plain mayo and ketchup. I also ordered the Freedom Fries and Libertea. It was a bit busy when I stopped in, so I waited about 10-15 minutes for my order, no big deal, it was totally worth the wait. You ever have a burger so juicy that it covers your face and trickles down your arm too? You know, the five napkin burger? Yeah, that's the California burger. As I was waiting for my burger I worried that my burger was going to come out well done (cardboard) since I wasn't asked how I would like it cooked, I'm glad that was not the case. It was perfect! The fries....oh the fries! Anyone who knows me will tell you I dislike potatoes. I especially dislike crinkle fries, steak fries, any thick cut fries, blech! The freedom fries were thin, very crispy, and well seasoned. No ketchup required! I ate every last one of them. The reason for the 4 stars was the Libertea. I can't place my finger on it but there was a very unpleasant saccharine aftertaste to it, reminds me of Sweet & Low. I tried my best to drink it but after a few sips, I had to stop. I just couldn't with the tea. I hate that I waited until the last two days of my vacation to eat here, I will definitely be thinking of their burger and fries for a long time to come. I look forward to my next visit. read more
