My daughter and I stopped in this very quaint town on our way home from a road trip to stay at this B&B and wow, it was absolutely stunning! It is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. Every detail is perfection!! We stayed in the Jane Robbins room and loved every second of it. Everything was so luxurious down to the towels and robes! Breakfast looked as good as it tasted, we only wish we could have eaten more. Olga was very informative and sweet and we told her when we were leaving that we can't wait to return! This Bed & Breakfast was absolutely DIVINE! Great hosts and the house is straight out of a FAIRYTALE! When I arrived, the owner Dmitriy answered the door and gave me a tour of the entire house and provided some information on the history of the homes complete restoration. I stayed in early November so Halloween decorations were still up and the fall vibe with the pumpkin decorations really added to the ambience. This place was truly a dream, like a night in a museum -- very pristine, the most comfortable bedding, there were other guests but everyone was quiet and respectful. Also the breakfast, AMAZING -- fresh and elaborate fruit cup, yummy pancakes, fresh squeezed orange juice! I wish I could have come back for Christmas but there is always next year!! read more

Immaculate setting...with service to boot! Wow. As beautiful as the photos are...they simply don't do this place justice. The Silas Robbins house is an excellent place for a getaway, a surprise gift for a romantic partner...or how I used it: as a meeting place to WOW a client. I reserved one of their library rooms for a private multi-hour meeting...and he too was blown away by the setting. When I walked into the Silas Robbins house for the first time, I was overtaken by the immaculate design, the richness of its history and the countless little details (furnishings, art, service touches). Short version - beautiful house, excellent hosts, great breakfast. We loved it and will be back. You should definitely stay here. Long version - as you pull up, you're blown away by how beautiful it is. This house is also in a great location that allows you to walk to the little shops in Old Wethersfield. We were met my Olga, one of the owners, and she was lovely. She gave us a full tour (and we even got to peek in the other rooms that didn't have guests). There's even a space to work out in the basement, along with an ice maker and a fridge with soda for the guests. The whole house is stunning, restored to how it would have looked back in the day. Each room is beautiful and they all have updated and modern showers. I thought it was a nice touch that there were two luggage holders in our room, so we could both unpack without having to put a suitcase on the bed. We had bottled water in the room, along with an ice bucket and a wine bottle opener. It's worth noting that the curtains in our room weren't light blocking, so if you're sensitive to light keep that in mind. Each evening they put out some snacks but we were really looking forward to breakfast. Dmitriy handled breakfast and it was wonderful. He was so attentive and topped off everyone's water and coffee. I had made a cup of tea and he materialised with a fresh pot for me. That was so nice! Breakfast starts off with a wonderful glass full of cut fruit. Then he brought out the next course of eggs, bacon and toast. And finally these little pancakes with home made whipped cream and syrup. They were light and fluffy and the best pancakes I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and stay here. You won't regret it. read more

My wife and I just visited the Silas W Robbins house in Old Whethersfield. It's a completely restored 1855 Victorian and is now a delightful B&B that to is a sight to behold. The owners (John and Shireen) have done a remarkable job over the past 8 years in restoration, and the whole house is a history lesson on Victorian style, craftsmanship and lifestyle. For those who love details in woodworking, garden spaces, and the sheer mastery of the 1800's artisans this house is a must see. And on top of that the owners are gracious hosts and the 5 guest rooms (all with private baths) are designed and decorated for comfort and a relaxing stay. read more

Incredible! From the moment we walked up, being greeted at the door, to the moment we left there was nothing less than perfection. Dimitry goes above and beyond for guests. Always making sure things all needs are taken care of. He walked us through the history of the house upon arrival, took care of menus and recommended dinner locations. Breakfast was chef prepared, 3 courses, excellent flavors, perfect service (Dimitry, of course) and incredible attention to detail. Checking out was extremely convenient. We were shocked at how beautiful this house is. Dmitri is an amazing host and we couldn't get over the delicious breakfast he made and served for us! Every detail on this house is perfect. This is by far the best B&B I've ever stayed in. Definitely worth every penny spent. And you should take a walk around the neighborhood and see the homes, many of which were built in the 1700's. This was a wonderful B&B to stay at. The work and craftsmanship was one of if not the best we have seen, inside and out. The woodwork, mounding, plaster, finish work, painting, decor was 1st class. The Inn keepers were very hospitable, friendly, accommodating and served a wonderful fulfilling breakfast. The breakfast setup was done in class, crystal glassware, fine dinning table cloth. We were given a tour of the house and a brief history. The grounds were well done. It was Christmas time so the home was decorated for the season, 5 uniquely decorated trees. Rooms were all decorated with time period pieces. If you like homes built in the 1800s you must stay here. read more

Outstanding B&B in a large handsome Second Empire mansion on a huge landscaped lot in a very charming small town, Wethersfield, a suburb of Hartford. Ornate restored interior, grand public rooms and staircases, with large bedrooms and well done baths. Owners, Olga & Dimitry, could not be better hosts, doing wonderful breakfasts. No one ever loses weight here. We have stayed in many B&B's over the years, and this is among the best. read more

My husband and I just spent our anniversary at the Silas W. Ribbins House in the Silas W. Ribbins. I was absolutely prefect. The history of the house is very interesting and painstaking renovation taken on by the Innkeepers, John & Shireen Aforismo, is just remarkable. Not a single detail was overlooked! The house is warm and inviting the breakfast was delicious. The one thing that really blew my mind was the cleanliness. If I could give them 10 stars I would. My husband and I stayed here during our wedding weekend- we got married at the Webb Barn just around the corner. The house is gorgeous. The renovation the new owners did is absolutely incredible. John and Shireen are absolutely amazing hosts, they are there if you need them but not on top of you like some other B&B owners can be! They were so welcoming and they made us the best breakfasts while we were there! My husband and I looked forward to getting up just to eat. Like another reviewer mentioned the house is so clean and just every detail is perfect. Since it rained on the wedding day we had our family meet us at the B&B to take pictures on the 3rd floor, what used to be a banquet hall. We cannot recommend this B&B enough, we will most likely be returning every year for our anniversary. The town it sits in is so charming and adorable, really just an amazing time we had! We stayed in the Jane Robbins Room and it was gorgeous with the blue paints and the amazing tub in the bathroom. I literally picked the room for the tub. We stayed 2 days and I took a bath BOTH days! This in is a real gem! Both inside and out the property has been lovingly restored to extraordinary level. We've stayed at many Inns throughout the years, but this has to be one of the very best we'd had the pleasure to stay in. Each room was restored to its original grandeur, with detailed moldings, windows, fireplaces and furnishings. We stayed in the Silas Robbins Room which had beautiful floor to ceiling windows and a comfortable antique bed and beautiful bathroom. The breakfast was also incredible. The Inn keeps very nice. The 3.5 stars are for the beautiful place that it is. (I can't choose 3.5 stars here). Breathtaking inside and out with the selection of antiques and seasonal decorations, classic Autumn scene outside (leaves falling, squirrels on the porch), candle in the window, garden, comfortable bed, immaculately clean. Convenient location off highway and near historical walk and sites. Breakfast was the best I'd ever had, before the delicious meal you are served an eloquent dish of fruit, the best coffee. The girl serving us breakfast in the morning was very sweet and her service was excellent. Staying here was like staying in a museum and if you like old places and things, this is the place for you. I'm leaving out 1.5 stars because of the lack of friendliness from the hosts. Although it was nice that we were able to choose a room, shown how to work the shade, and they were not rude - we found the hosts unfriendly. I immediately got a "snooty" vibe yet was asked "any food allergies?" When we replied yes about a dairy allergy, we were told ok. However the next morning that was forgotten. All dairy was served. I was not greeted hello in the morning by neither host, in fact, I actually had to say hello to him first, he wouldn't even look at me. As we were ready to check out, we got "do you have your credit card?" right away. Never once "how was your night/stay". Never did they come to breakfast to ask how we were/our stay was, only the hired help was there. Also after we were given the room and the key for the night, we were never told how or where to contact the hosts incase they were needed. They never said goodbye after we checked in and just left. They never said "if you need anything..." I feel that I have the right to criticize in this way because of how we felt (ignored) - and because I have traveled all over the world and all over the USA and have stayed at countless B&Bs and never encountered this type of chilly reception and vibe. I give the hosts credit for the restoration of the house, which is remarkable, and I wanted to tell them that. I'm someone who has lived and backpacked in Europe, UK, Ireland, New England for over two years and I know how I'm usually treated. Also, whenever i've stayed at a B&B they ask what foods I like. Although they asked us if pancakes were ok, they didn't tell us they were just going to put cranberries in the pancakes without asking, and just automatically served us sausage and bacon on the plate without asking. I gave my husband the food I didn't want to eat and he gave me his food he didn't want to eat (we traded) so that the food wasn't wasted. I thought this was odd, usually I'm asked what I want at B&Bs so that nothing is wasted. I had to ask for margarine not butter as they forgot about the dairy allergy. But I loved the house, it was quiet and peaceful, we certainly had our space, and I don't regret my stay. read more
