This weekend was our annual Swedish Christmas gathering and Grace & Rob provided us with the perfect venue. 20 adults and 6 children from 1-11 years old just don't fit at anyone's house anymore, so we reached out to take over the B&B for a day. The common rooms are spacious enough that we all were able to easily mingle for appetizers while the kids played and enjoyed themselves. The dining room handily accommodated our buffet line and seating for our Smorgasbord. Every step of the way, the owners were there if we wanted anything. The restoration of this home into a B&B is ongoing and it is very tasteful. Can't wait to see the next stage! We all loved our rooms. They were quiet and comfortable after our long event. We were in the Austin and Ruth Suite. I easily could stay here for weeks! The cabinetry is amazing, the bathroom larger than some bedrooms and the sitting area was very enticing. And our breakfast was delicious! From the pitchers of juice and water, the homemade granola with yogurt and apples, the scrumptious French toast with Vermont maple syrup... A perfect ending to our gathering that allowed us to wind down before heading on our way.

*severe gluten, onion, garlic allergy* Last night I had…read moredinner here with my family visiting from Florida. My husband and I triple checked with the waitress that if I ate the 'gluten free Riverton pizza' would I be safe? She assured me multiple times yes that I would be. When I asked "is it baked in a separate pizza oven?" She replied "do not worry about cross contamination". She basically dodged the answer 'no' it wouldn't be in separate gluten free oven. But I took her word for it because I am a server also at the Belden house and mews, in litchfield. We are trained to take allergies seriously. If the answer was that 'sorry it's in the same oven as regular pizza' I would have gotten a salad to be safe. But again, I trusted that there was no cross contamination. However, I immediately got sick after one slice, had to cut dinner short, went home and immediately went to bed cutting my visit short with my out of town relatives. I'm just very disappointed that she didn't take my allergy seriously resulting in my evening being ruined when a simple solution of me getting a salad instead would have been better. This happened last night (Friday 8/14 at 6p.m.) I just hope next time when someone has an allergy she takes it seriously. I live right in town half a mile from the inn and now I can't eat there ever again.

Right when I walked in Lorraine greeted me and showed me around, offered me some freshly made brownies and we chatted over the deliciousness. The bathroom attached was amazing. I had a nice soak before dinner and drinks. Lorraine and her husband live there and are amazing hosts. The bed and breakfast is only about 10 minutes away from Bradley Airport and in the quaint town of Suffield. They have a grocery and some restaurants across the street, but little traffic in the neighborhood. It's such a great getaway spot. Breakfast in the morning was also SPECTACULAR. Blueberry pancakes, bacon and eggs, with a fruit salad to start. Lorraine really treats you like family when you stay here. I would be honored to be a guest here again. Thanks so much Lorraine! The rooms were extremely clean and spacious, each having their own full bath. The owners, Bob and Maggie, made the wedding and our stay that much more enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed having coffee and breakfast with Bob and Maggie in the morning. If you are going to stay in the area try The Inn at Mount Pleasant and enjoy the ambiance and views of the countryside as much as we did!

Kay is a marvelous cook, and with Don's beehive out back, her breakfasts were hearty and fresh. Plenty of gourmet teas (brewed in your own individual teapot!) and a variety of sweet and savory made the morning meal stand out. We drove around Litchfield and surrounding areas. Hiking is plentiful, and can also recommend the Hickory Stick Bookshop in Washington. We had a late lunch at the Market Place Tavern (built in an old jail!) and loved their selection of drinks, apps, and entrees. Back at the Inn, enjoyed restful sleep both nights. Over the weekend, we finally redeemed our certificate and had the best time! This is definitely my new favorite spot for an afternoon tea experience. The portions were hearty and I actually left full, unlike other tea experiences I've been to in the past. The owner, Kay, goes above and beyond to take care of your group, and everything is made from scratch by her. The sandwiches feature ingredients grown right in their garden (the cucumber sandwich on rye with her homemade dill spread is delicious!), and the angel biscuits were so fluffy. She prepares everything day of or minutes before, so you're getting it all as fresh as possible, and you can taste the difference! The list of teas is extensive. Kay was nice enough to even give us a tour of the inn, and we will absolutely be recommending them to our friends and family traveling in from out of town. I'll be keeping Plume House in mind as a spot to have a shower as well!

I did not read any of the reviews about how people felt about the actual food, but our drinks were on a special list, and they were quite delicious. Would I take another trip back here just to try the food because everybody was so special in this beautiful New England space, absolutely.
