Canadian Tire - 149$ plus tax, my dealership at Dueck GM terminal ave. - 140$ plus tax, some other local automotive shops (I live in Port Coquitlam) gave you the read for free then wanted to charge you 80$ for diagnostics. Well Deckers ran the code scanner then did diagnostics and realized it was an on board computer glitch (most likely caused when the cars system needs updating) plus a small evap leak. They reset the flashing vsc off, traction and engine light then recommended that I take it more seriously if it happens again. "So what do I owe you?", I asked as I started mental cringing at the thought of forking over a hundred dollars for a less than fifteen minute job that turned out to be a glitching computer...... ready? --- 40$. Nuff said, Deckers now has a customer for life. I immediately tried to book an appointment to change my back breaks with them but the serviceman Mike took a peek with a flashlight and told me the pads were at about 30% so wait 2 more oil changes then come see him..... I have had my Mitsubishi' brakes fixed somewhere else which they were not good enough to replace the brakes perfectly. Brought my car into Raj after being recommended him by another mechanic I know…read more I was smelling smoke in my car and Raj said it was probably the flex joint when I dropped it in. Apart from the smell the car was driving perfectly. He quoted me 400-500 to fix it and said I would have the car back in a day. The next day I called Raj to ask for a pick up time. He said he was really busy and my car was still sitting in the yard but he would have it done by EOD. I called him later that day, he said the car was still sitting in the yard and he wouldnt get to it until the next day. At this point I was annoyed but he said it would be done by noon the next day so I said OK. The next day before noon I rang to make sure the car was ready. Again Raj said he was busy and hadnt gotten to it. I needed the car so was very frustrated. He said it would be done by 5pm. He called me at 4:50pm saying the car was ready and to come out. When I got to the shop it appeared my car was still being worked on. Raj had pulled out the filters of my car and the sparkplugs. He said it all needed to be repaired and I needed an oil change. I was shocked as I hadnt given him permission to pull anything from my car. He said he would have to replace the sparkplugs and do an oil change. Also the original work was now more expensive than he thought and overall the work would be 1200 dollars. So 800 more than originally quoted and 2 days late. It took him 2 more hours to finish the work and then I finally got the car back. I am a first time car owner and I am sure Raj was just trying to take advantage of me. I have no experience with mechanics but I know this is not normal even in general customer service. It was all a show he was saying how bad my filters were, how the spark plugs needed replacing and oil was leaking into them. I will attached photos so everyone can see how ridiculous his claims were. Would not recommend ever and would really advise everyone to avoid this place at all costs.
