If you aren't familiar with shops like this, I can totally see how this would be off-putting. So - buyer beware on that point. John at the counter couldn't have been easier to deal with. Well well well! I can't say it any better: this is your go to shop if you are looking for an honest advice, repair or maintenance for your car. I brought my first Camaro for a muffler job. It was well done. This year i have a newer model Camaro .. i didn't hesitate to come back to this same shop. I always leave as a happy customer. Truly, it's not easy that you find someone you can trust and get good service. This shop doesn't stop impressing me. The gentleman in charge is always kind, smiling, knowledgeable, offering you choices, and not pushy at all. It happen to me that we did a cat delete and i drove off and the next day i had a check engine light probably because of a small exhaust leak. He nicely said bring back and we will look it up and we'll make sure satisfaction is guaranteed. GUESS WHAT? They made a small adjustment in 10 min without any wait. A good friend of mine recommended Muffler Man due to their reputation and fantastic work. I wanted to have a resonator installed, which would be supplied by myself. John and the boys were very accommodating and were able to get my vehicle on the hoist to see if this was possible, sure enough, it was. I went in for some muffler tip and hanger extensions. The work performed appeared to be good, the pricing was fair, and the gentleman behind the counter was pleasant. The fellow who did the work, however, was a little rougher around the edges than one would expect, and given his responsibilities in customer interaction, would likely benefit from basic lessons in politeness, tact, and professionalism that any mother would pass onto a toddler. While guiding me onto the lift, he became dissatisfied with the angle with which I was turning my wheels, and said to me something along the lines of: "Hey, you just have to be f__king turning your wheel a little; there's no need to be f__king cranking it like that!" I bit my tongue. I had already driven out here, waited 20 minutes for my turn, and wanted to get the job over with, so I kept my mouth shut and completed loading the car onto the lift. After all, mouthing him off wouldn't do any favors to the work quality. Through forced politeness on my end, the welder eventually became friendly. His work, unlike his manners, seemed good. It seemed the welder lept up off the wrong side of bed and stubbed his toe after realizing a terrible drunken mistake from the bar the previous night, because his overly-crude behavior was beyond off-putting, and would likely have turned many other customers away. After hearing about my experience, my friends who have had work done at this shop have also expressed dissatisfaction at this welder's (lack of) customer interaction skills, an opinion that also appears to be shared by others through Yelp and Google reviews. It would do the owner some good to have a(nother) talk with this guy about the basics of customer interaction, and advise him to keep bar talk at the bar. read more

For 3 days, my car was making extremely loud noise whenever I pressed my gas paddle. I worry and worry and hope it won't cost me several hundred dollar to change my muffler. I drove passed Kingsway and saw their big sign "Muffler Man". I decided to stop by and talk to these people. I like the man that I talked to. He's got a long hair and looked very experience. He offered me for a free inspection and jack up my car. He identified my problem right away and gave me a precise quote and time. My muffler pipe broke off into two pieces, so they had to cut it and reconnect it. Total quote is $65 and 30 minutes. That looks like a big job to me, and I was thrill to learn they can get it done in 30 minutes. I didn't even make appointment. I took a walk in the area and got a coffee at 7-11. I want to rushed back to take the work in process photo. To my surprised, my car was already done!! I went to the front office and was totally impressed with their speed, work, and honesty. This shop had been there for 44 years! That's before I even existed in this world. And the current owner is the 2nd generation owner. Cars may had changed with all these fancy electronics. The "muffler" had been pretty much the same! I highly recommend this place!! This place definitely deserve a 5 stars rating!! read more

Went to this shop to get a muffler put on my truck. Old / taller mechanic immediately started yelling and swearing at me as he attempts to guide me onto the vehicle hoist. He then continues swearing under his breath as I'm driving onto the hoist. He then rudely asks me "what do you want". Absolutely shocked at how he is speaking to me, I politely explain what I want done. He then responds with "il see what I can do, but I can't promise it will look nice" ????? Extremely rude and unprofessional throughout the entire interaction. Made me feel like I was 2 feet tall. Hands down the most disrespectful / ignorant costumer service I have EVER experienced. i took my vehicle in because of the exhaust noise and it getting into the cabin. they hoisted it for free to take a look. they told me it needed a new front exhaust and that i would have to look for the part on my own since it's an older vehicle. 2000$ for the part. took it to another mechanic and said the O2 sensor dislodged and they fixed it and welded a bit of hairline cracks and this fixed the problem. yes the fix may not be as good as a new part but at least give me the option . read more

Unlike many shops that will find a broken part and simply replace it, these guys will pull out the torch and actually repair it if possible at great savings to their customers. I've been here with two or three different vehicles over the years and wouldn't go anywhere else as long as I live reasonably close. (I live in downtown Vancouver these days and it's worth the trip to the Burnaby/New Westminster border). I will never forget the day I brought in my Toyota FJ Cruiser after a weekend of rough off-roading. I was sure I had punched a hole somewhere in the exhaust system. They put it up on the hoist, used a stethoscope attached to a piece of tubing to listen, and told me there was nothing wrong. I mused about purchasing an aftermarket exhaust system (which I would have bought from them) and while they didn't refuse they recommended strongly against it. They told me to leave the system I had on the vehicle until it fell apart, concluding that if all exhaust systems were made like the one I had, they've have to find another line of work. Point being that I was ready to hand them my money and they were honest enough to tell me I didn't need what I was thinking about buying. read more

This place is a wonderful small independent garage that just doesn't really exist anymore with all the dealerships and franchise garages taking over the majority of the automotive repair business. Joe was a wonderful help in me fixing my four inch exhaust pipe. MUFFLER MAN IS ONE OF THE ONLY PLACES IN VANCOUVER THAT CAN EXPAND A 4" PIPE. This is important because a lot of diesel trucks can run pipes this big but no franchise shop that does exhaust can bend or expand a four inch shop. The cost to do this was very inexpensive I'm too embarrassed to write in how much I was actually charged. But it was very inexpensive. They were very quick with the repairs and I was served immediately. This is one of those small time shops that cut, weld, repair, bent and can custom make an exhaust system. It's worth coming here to fix your car. read more

I bought an used car with an obnoxiously loud exhaust. Seller gave me the stock muffler. I needed the mufflers switched. I went to Budget Brake Muffler (245 E 2 Ave). Budget said they cannot switch it, and recommended I buy an entire new exhaust system. Parts and labour will be $800. Muffler Man had great reviews so I drove across the city to check it out. They switched the loud and stock mufflers under 30min for $100. No problem. Honest guys! Great customer service too. Joe is upfront with costs, tell you what's what and why, friendly, approachable. Needed exhaust work, specifically the resonator and pipe assembly for my MX6. The Walker part for this is no longer produced, so after speaking with John earlier in the week and based on these reviews, I went to John's Mufflerman this morning and arrived early as suggested. Got my car on the lift, left it running, and he checked out the exhaust system for leaks etc. He took the time to show me what else was happening and since the flanges on both sides of the Cat were also deteriorating, made suggestions which I agreed to. The cost difference was nominal. His guy cut out the old and welded in a new resonator and pipes as needed. Took about 45 minutes and it was done...and probably saved more time and hassle overall if I did find the Walker part. I couldn't be happier with the results and the tab. All for under $250.00. I have visited the Kingsway shop on Jan 25, 2021 with my 2019 Mustang GT. I wanted the performance OEM exhaust installed on to my Car. That I have provided to them. When I got there there was no introduction of any kind. I had to ask to turn the heater on outside due to Covid you cannot stay inside. After trying to tell the Forman what I wanted to be done he did not say anything and he also walked away from the conversation twice with out any explanation. when I tried to tell what I want he replied we know what we are doing we need no instructions. Again I told him I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job. At that point I should have just got my exhaust back and leave. In any case some thing that I have asked was not done because he was never listening in the first place. Ones the car was done I was never showed the actual work that was done or how it looks now. When the car was on the ground I looked at the exhaust and one side was lower that the other, when I mentioned him and the worker both replied at the same time it is not us it is the exhaust hanger. LOL. My car is a 2019 Mustang GT with 10000KM. I don't believe that only one exhaust hanger was worn out not the other. This guy have no service etiquette at all. I will never go back there again I redder get a ticket for a broken muffler. read more

Initially went in with an exhaust leak and an annoying rattle. John first suggested the rattle might be related to the exhaust leak. They repaired the leak (welded in a section of pipe to replace leaking flange) and gave me a 35% seniors discount so I was out the door for just over $100. Drove off and the rattle was still there. Came back and John gave it a 15 second test drive and said it sounded like a suspension problem and I would need to book an appointment to put it up on the hoist and inspect it (which I got 2 days later) as all his hoists were in use. Came back, his mechanic test drove it, put it up on the hoist and found the problem. John immediately told me it was not a safety issue, showed me the loose sway bars and a minor leak in a strut. As I am not keeping the car much longer (15 year old Murano), I chose to not have it repaired and live with the rattle. No pressure, basically agreed he would do the same and wished me a good day and best of all no charge. Would definitely recommend this shop. read more

I had to ship a car across Canada and no one in Vancouver had garage space to house my newly bought vehicle. I realized I wanted to modify my car to be louder anyway, so I started looking for reputable shops and found TONS of positive reviews on multiple car forums for Muffler Man. I called up Joe and explained the situation and he had absolutely no problem accepting my car from a shipping company (which is almost always annoying), doing the modification and holding the car for me for a few days before I could pick it up. I almost never leave reviews for places, but they really went above and beyond the call of duty to help me out for what was really not a very expensive job! "No" would have been easier for them. Top notch service, Excellent Pricing, and a trustworthy staff. If I need any more custom exhaust work done, I'll make the drive up from the states to do it here. Muffler Man is such a life/wallet saver! I was quoted over $1200 by another car repair shop to totally replace my exhaust system when my car's tailpipe detached from its muffler. When I told them that it was way over my budget they recommended going to the Muffler Man. I drove my car there on a Saturday morning, was told it would be a three hour wait to get to my car (they were already so busy, at 9am and rightly so!), and then I was given a phone call a couple of hours later saying that the repair would be $110 plus tax and would take 45 minutes. It is a first come first serve basis but when you go first thing in the morning you are guaranteed repairs. I had a repair that was quoted $1000 by another shop but these mechanics saved me by giving me the right recommendations to save money. Outstanding. Great friendly staff and great work. Went there with an exhaust leak in my aftermarket cat-back exhaust without an appointment and they got me in right away. Fixed the issue within 20 min. Could have charged me double and I would have happily paid. Very reasonable. Later that night noticed a rattle. Went back the next day and the mid pipe resonator was resting on the body. Again no appointment but the got me in right away and I was out of there in 15 min and at no charge and all fixed up. I had a rattle from my exhaust that was driving me insane. My local shop was sure it was the catalytic converters and quoted me over a grand to replace them. I didn't quite trust their diagnosis and took it to Joe after reading the reviews. Lef tthe car and two hours later it was sorted -- broken retainer bolt on a muffler bracket. They showed me the underside & muffler also starting to rust. It was first come first serve. I was there Saturday 830 & they said it will be done in 1/2 hr. These guys were recommended to me by another car repair place that didn't have the equipment needed to fix a kink in my exhaust pipe. Muffler Man are experts and have all the right equipment, for a reasonable price - once they got started they were very fast and friendly. The only down side is that they don't take appointments, it's first come first serve. So at 8am when they open you may find 6 people already waiting ahead of you - because this is a good place, and people know it. So if you can drop off your car in the morning and just pick it up later, this will work fine for you, but if you need to wait for something, it's definitely less convenient, and the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5. Totally understand it makes sense for the business not to make appointments, because they don't really have any idea how long each repair will take - but it's still less convenient for customers. However, with their excellent work quality and their reasonable prices, they clearly have no lack of customers regardless. Would definitely recommend this place for muffler and exhaust work. And, there are a couple cafes within walking distance while you wait. read more

First time, I had a bit of rust and instead of replacing my whole exhaust as a repair shop had said, my friend recommended me muffler man. They were able to cut/weld a piece in and it costs me under $50. This second time 2 years, a mechanic said I needed to replace my exhaust when it was making sounds. Joe again, got it done under $150 to replace my flex pipe.. This is a must go place to check up for anything exhaust related! read more
