I stopped into Silk Road Textiles for the first time yesterday with friends. As soon as I entered the store, I felt like I had entered a room of paradise. The yarn selection was amazing, and even though I haven't sewn anything for several years, the fabrics stirred that sewing desire once again. This is a store that I will visit again and again, as I found the quality and value of the products worth the trip. Talking with the staff, who are all extremely pleasant and helpful, I was pleasantly surprised that the owner and I had attended school together and were in the same high school graduating class. As a quilter, they have curated a great collection of Kaffe, batiks, blenders, and more but you've got to come for the limited and obscure collections of Japanese double weave, cotton crepes, canvas, aboriginal, and African fabrics. Loved it! read more

I visited today and that proved to be a terrible idea. Such is existence, however, they can easily replace customers and I'll remember to check out yarn.com or some other shop instead, so no great loss. Surely, their selection isn't unique. Note: They don't much care for people wearing facegaurds (despite those being in compliance with whatever mandates there are), have little in the way of online shopping (really), and isn't particularly "accessible". So, if you have certain conditions, find some other place. read more

Silk Road Textiles is a great alternative to your typical chain craft store. They have good pricing, a wide variety of yarns and needles, and super cool, unique fabrics. They also offer classes for both adults and children and have a calendar filled with events on their website. This is a great community craft store, staffed with friendly and knowledgable people who can help you with any stage of your project. Pro-tip: there is a nice sized parking lot behind the store, so you don't have to worry about on-street parking on Hamilton Ave. read more

What a unique store. It has Textiles for sewing or quilting and a variety of yarns for knitting or textile projects. I have never been to a store like this where I have really loved most of the stuff there, I have fairly eclectic taste. But there fabrics there are beautiful, and they have really beautiful yarn. I am looking into learning to sew again, and after I do that I will go back there for fabric. My sister-in-law is really into knitting. I went here with her and she found a really cool pattern for making felted bowls and bought stuff to make them, The yarn she bought was really unique and the bowls will look really nice. read more

I LOVE this store!!! I'm relatively new to knitting. I have taken classes here over the past year as well as private lessons to help me expand beyond knitting a basic scarf. Staff here is wonderful. I went in after meeting the owner at another business in the college hill business district. The owner stayed she was a retired teacher who was passionate about quilting and fiber arts who started a business. The layout of the store was nice and colorful. There are quilt and batik examples for you craftspeople. For artist like me there are silk and satin scarves available that you can walk out of the store wearing or take home and add designs to. My wife is into fashion so a Michael C original is in order! What makes this place great is that folks come from around the country (and Canada) just to participate in the store programming and to collect rows for quilts. They offer classes that rotate every season that include knitting,quilting,crocheting, garment making, felting, fiber dyeing and loom weaving! The classes are taught by nationally known, certified instructor that add to the quality of the experience. I've been to the shop 3 times and have always had a good experience. The folks are knowledgeable and work with folks of all experience levels and skill sets. They also offer a series of short kids camps and classes. If your a creative/crafty type this is definitely a place you want to check out. There are local eateries just next door of you work up an appetite shopping! read more

I've come to enjoy this shop. The staff is really friendly and the knitting group that meets on Thursday evenings is very welcoming. I don't sew, but the fabrics they sell make me wish I wanted to. I'm a hard core knitter and love their selection of high quality yarns. The yarn selection is a bit smaller than what you would see in a shop that was fully dedicated to yarn, but what they do have is mouth watering! It's really worth a visit! read more

Excellent selection of beautiful fabrics and unusual yarns. Friendly service. Only problem: you will leave with more than you intended to buy, since there are many gorgeous items! The hours are good. The yarn and fabric are all high quality and very beautiful. In addition, there are various tools, books, and patterns to assist your creativity, and they have classes, too. If I could give this business 10 stars, I would! What a wonderful, hidden gem on the northwest side of Cincinnati! I love it here. I am a crocheter, and was looking for a place to buy premium yarn and other supplies, and be able to meet up with fellow crocheters and yarn enthusiasts. They offer a knitting and yarn meetup every Thursday night, and once a month they have a sip and stitch group. I attended last Thursday's group, and it was great! From the first visit, I was greeted with very enthusiastic associates! The owner is also very welcoming and friendly! This store carries everything for the fiber arts lovers...from sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting, classes and then some! I can't believe it's been here for four years, and I didn't know it! It's been one week since I discovered Silk Roads, and I have been in there 3 times :) I bought some great yarn, and wonderful exotic new hooks.
