Just the facts, ma'am. Bought a tree for 30% off in late fall last year - around $125. No buds in the spring and called in March about returning. Told it won't bud until late May and wait. It's June and no buds. Took pictures to nursery and 'she' said, no it's a goner. Since it's over 6 months we'll give you 50% of what you paid towards another tree (which is not 30% off). So, sell me a dead tree; tell me to wait over the six month waiting period for getting only 50% towards a new tree; and tell me I can then buy a new tree at full price less the 50% from discounted dead tree which is about the same price as first tree. Not sure if this is a scam but not paying more money for the possibility of getting another dead tree. Much less what type business practice is this? read more

Be very wary of this landscape company. They have questionable ethics and poor policy, in my opinion. I ordered $2,400+ worth of landscaping to be installed at my home. The installation was completed and within a week, 6 of the plants were dying. See photos. I called several times and were told to "give it a week or two". They continued to get worse. I received the final bill, having placed a substantial deposit previously. I was hesitant to pay the final portion because of the dying plants and their unwillingness to help me. I called again and told them I wasn't paying for those plants because they looked awful. The owner finally called me back. He was curt and argumentative, refusing to address the issue until the bill was paid in full. We argued, at times heated, about whether I should have to pay for dead plants. He showed up the next day and removed the dying plants, saying that they were not dying and that he would resell them to someone else. See photos and judge for yourself. Tom left my garden bed with the holes and other dead branches. I would strongly recommend NOT using this landscape company. Their policies are suspect and their customer service is absolutely awful. Don't trust them or their warranty, as other posts have stated. read more

Silver Cliff Landscaping in my opinion are awful and a ripoff. We purchased nearly $1400.00 worth of trees from them and twice within our warranty period we had Tom come out and look at them. He claims these are "healthy trees" they just need fertilizer. We bought fertilizer that he recommended from Silver Cliff and watered as instructed and they got worse. The second time he came out he claimed they are healthy and would not replace or refund. I had a different landscaper look at them and he claimed they are not healthy and said we would be lucky if they ever got better. We got another fertilizer he recommended and still no growth. I highly recommend you stay away from Silver Cliff and go elsewhere for your landscaping needs. read more

We've always received excellent service, both on-site and over the phone. We've purchased several trees and shrubs from them and they've always been healthy and none have died - something I can't say for the countless trees and shrubs we've bought at Walmart and Lowes. Their prices aren't low, but they seem in line with most other nurseries in the area. Their mulch prices are reasonable and delivery has been fast and cheap - and I've always received what seemed like the amount I ordered. read more

We have used Silver Cliff Landscaping several times and have been impressed every time. We decided several months ago to add more trees to the yard. I called the company and asked that they let me know when new trees were available. I received a very nice call from the company, letting me know that new trees had been recently harvested. We were able to go and pick the trees that we would like to have. It was only a matter of days before some nice young gentleman came to our house to plant them. I highly recommend this company. People who live in Richmond, KY should shop local to promote our community. read more

I spent close to 900 dollars to have them plant 3 trees and mulch the landscaping that they did last year, this spring. They put about an inch of mulch over weeds and crabgrass that had come up this spring. Every single landscaping company that I've ever used before, cleaned all the weeds up before they put new mulch down. We are now having to pull weeds as they come through the new mulch.I'll find a new landscaping company from now on. read more

I manage an east coast tree breeding organization, so we plant thousands of trees across 16 states, and we buy a lot of mulch from a lot of landscape companies. This spring I called Silver Cliff and ordered 4 1/2 yards of mulch for a project in Richmond KY. When I got to the site there was 1 1/2 yards of mulch sitting there. When I called to ask where the other 3 yards of mulch was they told me that they only promised it would be "approximately" 4 1/2 yards and they felt the amount they gave me was sufficient. I'm a professional at this and I sure as heck know the difference between 4 1/2 yards and 1 1/2 yards, but just to be fair I had a few other professionals (including landscapers and arboretum sups) to weigh in. They all 100% agree I got ripped off big time (though, the estimates ranged from 1 yard estimates to 2 1/2 yard estimates, so take it with a grain of salt ). Either way, it wasn't even close to what I paid for. I recommend you Find another source for mulch. We now buy our mulch in Lexington. There are a few outfits whom are honest and reasonably priced. read more

I purchased a home in September 2016 and decided to have Silver Cliff clean up and re-do the landscaping in March 2017. I chose to use them because my Mom, Sister and Cousin had used them in the past and there are not a lot of local landscape companies. I paid to have the old landscaping and roots removed, new plants installed and mulch. I had a bad experience from the beginning. When I called to make the appointment and met with the owner they assured me they could get to me right away because I had called to early in the season. It was two weeks later before they completed the job. I have had nothing but problems ever since. Two weeks after the new plants were installed I had weeds and grass returning. When I called the owner to complain he told me to come to his business and purchase a $6.00 bottle of round -up. I tried to explain that this would not resolve the issue of grass and weeds returning. Since I did not get a resolution I went to the BBB. They did agree to give me a free weed application, but would not agree to address the issue of very little mulch (that I paid $500 for), drain pipes exposed, old landscaping re-growing, etc. My father even attempted to resolve the issue, but their only response was the job was adequate. For the amount of money spent, $4,500, I would have expected a higher quality of service. I am not satisfied. The plants appear to be healthy, but the rest of the job was not adequate. I am sad to say I will never use them again and will not recommend them to my friends or family. read more
