As he was about to pay me, he got a text on his phone. He stated he had made a mistake and offered me $100 less. I passed. Time wasted. I asked Levi what would be appropriate feedback based on our interaction and he said for me to do what I needed to do. Our interaction to that point was quite friendly. This changed rather quickly. Any business that crawfishes on a deal after coming to an agreement is not to be trusted. This is a very bad way of doing business. Thanks Levi, for encouraging me to leave this feedback.

But what really stood out to me wasn't the prices, it was the character of the people working there. While I was checking out, an older woman came in trying to pawn some of her late husband's tools. She was a mother and newly widowed, and you could tell it wasn't an easy moment for her. At first, the staff didn't know the full situation, but once they understood what she was going through, they immediately stepped up in a way you just don't see often anymore. They offered to nearly double their original offer close to 100% more. From what I could tell, they absolutely paid more than the tools were worth, but they did it purely out of kindness and compassion. That kind of integrity and heart is rare these days. For what this review is worth, I truly hope they receive tenfold in blessings for the way they treated her.

If you advertise on a marketplace where custom usually dictates the first "I'll take it" gets it unless flagged as first come first serve, it's pretty underhanded to sell it out from someone that wasted his time gas and lunch break to get over for a product that you sold. Would not recommend these people to my enemies if that's their standard model.

Today (6/4/26) I sold a 100oz bar for $6500 when the price was $73.90/oz. It was 10:30, and they don't open til 12 during the week, but they let me in anyway. Then they quoted me $6500, and I agreed to that price without checking. Upon closer inspection, that is only 89% of the spot price -- I realized that I shouldn't have taken that price; I should have done my due diligence and looked elsewhere. I think my first impression of Tulsa Gold & Gems is that they are an honest company that "makes a little profit on a lot of sales". But now I'm not convinced that they live by that mantra. 89% is well below what most buyers will pay. Yes the staff is very friendly. But even though they are on my side of town, from now on I will not just bee-line it to this establishment; I will check prices and make sure I am well informed before thinking of selling to them. I do not consider my most recent experience to fit with my expectations of competitive buyback value; it left a bad taste in my mouth.
