I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I really appreciated that offer and may take them up on that next time since Providence is still a much closer drive than upstate New York. I guess what really fascinated me about this place more than the wines stocked on the shelves was the fact that this used to be a purveyor/architect's office/storage where they stored their blueprints. As such, the shelves where all these simple fine wines rest on were once holding blueprints for buildings nearby. It made the whole store look extremely unique and similar to a library that had books up to the ceiling. I'll definitely be back to visit when in the area again. He said that he had not seen that label in a while...and he then told me that the website had not been updated in years and they were trying to take it down.... Mai tai, old fashioned, margarita, cosmopolitan, White Russian, mojito... all for $3.99 a can. I'm obsessssssed. I got 2 of the espresso martinis & 2 of the mojitos. Also stopped by the entrance to try the reposado & blanco tequilas from G4 with a very nice gentleman guiding my tasting experience. Happy Friday!

It's a bright space, it's not a dingy corner liquor store. I judge the Jäger). I personally think you'll get a really bad hangover from a lot of the options here (esp. the wine), but the craft beer selection is surprisingly good and I love the mix-a-six. What I don't like about this place is that sometimes the pricing seems out of whack with alternatives, the price labeling can be better (there's been times I'd have to wait in line to get the register to scan an item to understand cost), and the parking situation can be a major cluster with patrons haphazardly blocking the road and private lot (common sense people, TRIPLE parking on the street and sidewalk and/or blocking the lot entrance in your car is rude!). I like Reyes Liquors just fine, I just wouldn't feel compelled to make a special visit if I wasn't already in the neighborhood.
