Do you perform other services besides end of life care ? My father is 91 and needs his toenails cared for.

Hello Debbie, I am sorry but I don't believe we can help here. Silver Linings Hospice is an end of life care provider, so we have Nurses and a Doctor that oversees the healthcare needs of the elderly often times in the last stages of life. I would… Read more

The past couple…read moreof years have been a formidable and agonizing fight, with many close calls and crisis after crisis. But now she faces the final chapter. Thank you, Porter Hospice At The Johnson Center, for loving my mom and making her feel so special and important in the last few pages of her life here on earth! Everyone has been so caring, helpful and amazing! My mom is finally at peace, knowing she is not alone, because not only does she have her family and friends, but now she also has her Porter Hospice Team, who have become her family, too! This is a gift in which we will be forever grateful! It takes very strong, yet compassionate people to work in a Hospice environment. May God bless you and your families for the time, sacrifice and heartache you all face daily. We are so very honored and thankful to have our mom in your care! My mom came to Porter Hospice at this location after several health issues left her with a terminal…read moreprognosis. She stayed here for 8 days total. Her room had windows that actually opened, and a bird feeder with various birds and other wildlife outside kept her entertained. The room provided ample seating for visitors and there were other common areas and outdoor areas where families could gather. Most spectacularly, the entire group of staff and volunteers here is amazing. Joan gave us a tour initially, and she has been volunteering here for 18 years! Terry, the chaplain, visits all guests on a regular basis and offers support to families. Nurses including (but not limited to) Jill, Jamie, Laura, Allison, Jenny, Amy, and Margie we're so kind and caring. CNAs including (but not limited to) Mary and Shanon were outstanding. They responded to my mom's need right away and made her feel like a guest rather than a patient. Dr. Mush (Mushinski) gave us all a clear understanding of what to expect and added humor and compassion. The volunteers that monitor the front desk keep tabs on everyone coming and going. They check to make sure you're on the "approved visitors" list so no one unexpected enters the room. One day, when my dad and I arrived, the volunteer at the front desk told us Mom was getting her hair washed! The volunteer knew about my mom and cared about what was happening with her. Mom's condition actually improved while she was at this hospice facility because of the peacefulness of the place and the care from the staff. Sadly, it couldn't reverse her situation, but it gave us several great days to share memories and have heartfelt conversations. I can't express enough how wonderful this place and these people have been for our family.

I'm surprised at many of the comments…read more My mom has been under the hospice care of Agape now going on a year. They have been of service while she was at Libby Bortz Assisted Living (awesome facility) and now as the Manor on Marston (another awesome facility). Dealing with end of life isn't easy and emotions run high. Moving loved ones into and out of assisted facilities is stressful on everyone. Managing everyone's expectations isn't easy. The staff from Agape has done and continues to do an outstanding job balancing all these things. Yes, things go a bit wrong, someone may forget something etc, but it's how you handle and correct the mis steps that speaks to your true intent and here, Agape, is excellent. They have been honest if they miss something and they appropriately and mindfully push back when needed to the family when in the best interest of the patient. The staff from nursing, personal care, PT, volunteers, Chaplin's, visiting animals, etc have been amazing. My mom has nothing but praise for each. She looks forward to each of their visits as they are way more than just medical visits. Please keep in mind the difficult situation when thinking about an evaluation. When I place myself in their shoes or my moms, they are an outstanding, dedicated team of caregivers who truly care. What more can as for?

Their staff, across the board, greeted us with only compassion and kindness. Kerry M. was our vet and she walked us through every step, educated us, was patient, and was so kind to Iverson and us. I had to cancel the first appointment because I was not ready to say goodbye. They offer a cancellation window up to 4 hours before your appointment and allow you to carry over your deposit to when you reschedule, with no extra fee. So thankful for this understanding. The cost may feel steep, but the in-home service is so so worth it. Iverson had his last meal while the pain meds were administered. It was a distraction where he didn't even notice. He felt safe and comfortable in his home, surrounded by family and on his favorite couch. He was then given a sedation medicine where he drifted into a nap on my chest. When the final medicine was given, he felt no pain as he crossed the rainbow bridge. I have heard horror stories from other in home service companies. I had 3 friends use Caring Pathways and that is why we went with them. I am so grateful and thankful that we chose to work with Caring Pathways. It helps with acceptance and closure and provides a peaceful passing. I will forever recommend them to other family and friends who need to say goodbye to a family pet member.
