Picked up food from silver spoon on Canada Day - July 1st. We picked up seeks kabab (4 kababs for $16), 1 lb of chicken angara ($13/lb) 1 large veal qorma, 1 large chicken tikka masala and 1 palak paneer, and 6 naans. Large meat curries are $13/each and large veg curry is $10/each. Saturday special is: buy large curry and you get 1 naan free, so technically we should be getting 3 naans free with our order. However, yesterday being Canada Day, they changed their special to: buy large curry and no free naans. Most places have Canada Day specials where you get extra stuff but Silver Spoon was being greedy and did the opposite and is charging customers extra. Review of food: Seeks kababs - flavour was good but they were way over-cooked and definitely NOT worth $4/each. Not juicy and tender at all. They was dry and hard. Veal qorma was full of bones - hardly any meat but flavour was good. If you're a meat eater, don't get this. Chicken tikka masala - 8 small bite-sized boneless chicken in a large oily serving - instead of chicken, they filled it with a lot of onions. So you get fooled thinking that your curry is full of chicken, when in fact, it's full of big onion wedges and some peppers. Btw - I've never heard of chicken tikka masala having veggies in there - isn't that chicken jalfrezi? So again, if you're a meat eater, pass on this dish - there's no chicken in here. Chicken angara was good but their prices have gone up from $10 to $13/lb. Naans were very disappointing as they didn't seem fresh at all. On the front, there is a "People Love Us on Yelp" sticker. Parking is easy to find, but you kind if get into a mini parking traffic jam when tons of people are there buying lunch. The staff are very friendly and the lineup is clear and organized. The menu items are clearly written on the board at the top of the counter and over on the side as well. Their items are a little spicy, samosas are a little more expensive than your Samosa King or Babu. One of my favourites are the chicken kabob (go grab it on Mondays because they have a special on Mondays). It's basically a wrap, with the kabobs as sausages? (or what appears to taste like sausages). If you grab it on a different weekday it's $1 - $2 more, so GOGOGO on Mondays!! There's always a queue for their food, go early or you may find that the dish that you wanted to eat for dinner has run out. I've been going to Silver Spoon since they first opened their doors - back when the public-facing part of the restaurant was basically a tiny room with a counter and a cash register. The food has remained consistently good over the years and this is why I've remained a loyal customer. Over the past several years, with the exception of one younger gentleman who always interacts very politely and respectfully with customers, the level of customer service has drastically plummeted. The other staff members who take the orders seem to treat customers with disdain and are oftentimes borderline disrespectful. I have always been a courteous and pleasant customer and so I have no idea why this is the case. If certain staff members feel that interacting with or "serving" customers is beneath them, they should find something else to do with their time. In the food services/hospitality industry, rudeness/poor customer service is inexcusable (or in any other industry for that matter) and so I will not be spending any more of my money at either of the Silver Spoon locations. read more
